I mean... That kindof looks disgusting. No seasoning or anything just raw squid flesh? Does it not just taste like oceanwater?
Why does intelligence matter? Dogs are pretty fucking stupid but most people in the west would never treat them this way.
I get the want to eat meat. I enjoy squid as well and that's all fine and dandy, but pointlessly making it suffer over archaic bullshit tradition that supposedly makes it taste better when it is "fresh" (which is kind of true, but fresh doesn't mean "right off the cartilage while still living" it just means not frozen and only a few minutes off the animal at most) which isn't even true.
Like I said, I don't give a shit about actually eating animals. That's the way it was intended; otherwise they would be inedible to humans. I just don't think that violent ripping an animals skin off then carving it into bits while still wiggling is a good thing, and quite frankly I am disgusted that anyone does support it.
Guess what? Animals are alive right before they die. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess you've never wrung a chicken's neck or stuck a pig? They move right up until they die soooo?
Besides, I'm surprised no one is talking about the fact that it's widely accepted scientifically that there's a lack of evidence show invertebrates even feel pain.

Good sushi/sashimi tastes heavenly even without seasoning
Their mortality tastes pretty good.
Squids are sapient, aren't they? It's kind of weird that this is OK. It's like eating dolphins.

From what we know, they are.
I think you need to lay off the Splatoon.
Haven't people died from the suckers latching onto their throat causing them to suffocate?

only if they're too dumb to not use a vinegar sauce or chew it properly.
