If they were real Spetsnaz, the kids would have killed by a backflipping hacthet attack.
In Red Dawn: the Spetsnaz, Russia's most elite and among the best in the world, walk into a trap and die without making any effort at stealth or tactics.
In Real Life: the Spetsnaz would've killed the kids before they could even think up a plan.
As right as you are, you have to remember it's hollywood
But they made no effort at all in the scene. They acted like there was going to be a cool battle scene, but all it was were lambs walking into a butchery.
I think the plot should be about the chinese going south to australia and then hitting canada. Then they invade africa and south america but america fight them in the atlantic and the centrla americas.
Who in their right mind cast Josh Peck in one of the leading roles?
I also wouldn't be surprised if there was a plowing scene with one of the girls.
I am watching the first one now and I am wondering, why are the Soviets speaking Spanish? I was told it took place in Texas or somewhere in the South US so I can only assume that story wise the Soviets used Mexico as an access point.
[editline]04:48PM[/editline]
Okay now I get it, they worked with the Cubans.
I wonder if in the remake, the kid in the middle will wear an Avatar hat.
Or just another starwars hat to keep it old school :slick:
But the original was great and i think the new one will be decent as well. Im stoked for the new tron though.
the only good thing to come out of the cold war was communism.
I hope the Chinese are shown to act with intelligence in the movie. The biggest problem with the first one was the sheer stupidity of the Red Army.
If the Chinese use skillful squad tactics and fight using their brains, and are beaten only by clever guerilla tactics and forest skirmish moves, I may watch it. In the first one, a few high schoolers went Rambo on professional Soviet soldiers, hence it was bullshit. But guerilla tactics can do some surprising things. In WWII, the French Resistance, made of an army who couldn't even put up the slightest fight in the War, killed untold tens if not hundreds of thousands of professional German soldiers using guerilla warfare.
I think you missed the entire point of the movie.
Since it's 2010 a more realistic reboot would be better tho.

Everyone knows it was made solely for propaganda. It's just those who think it had no propaganda purposes make me rage.
My dad and I were discussing this movie today. I was like "Dad, how in gods name do High Schoolers know how to defeat Russian tanks and use said weaponry?" His response? "I don't know but this movie is bullshit" Then he turned off the TV

Holy shit. Your dad sounds like he has....a brain.
To be honest, even with all of my firearms and to-be-bought firearms, I wouldn't stand a chance vs. an invading military. I doubt anyone would.
Yeah, taking 100 starving, demoralized, ill, near-surrendered-already Germans is quite a feat.
Those are Soviets, not Americans. Everyone knows the Soviets did some badass things in Stalingrad. I remember reading of one guy who got into a fist fight with a Waffen-SS soldier in the houses. He almost instantly overpowered him and threw him out a window to his death.
Your aren't the only ones.

120 British, 80 of whom were not wounded.
When did I say Britain was any better?

If I remember correctly, your soldiers frequently got massacred by Indians, who in smaller numbers, overwhelmed you.
You try fighting off 4,000 Zulus with some slow-reloading rifles and a very tiny camp. Let's see you win.

I'd have to loot resources from their soldiers then, 10 round mags of .223 won't go too far, but this place is really open, and unfortunately;
The Navy's largest complex is China Lake, California, which covers 1.1 million acres (4500 km²) of land, or approximately 1/3 of the United States Navy's total land holdings.
They'd probably have considerably more armor and firepower in this area
The first one was pretty awful, and yet I'm excited for the sequel.

Mostly just tossed in to prey on people's fear of immigrants.
We watched this in Spanish last year because our teacher gets distracted easily and someone mentioned it. If this is made right, It'll be awesome. I just want to know why I haven't heard anything on it.
ahaha this movie has just received a rather large face-lift despite being finished for awhile now, in order to try and make more money from it.
Villains changed from Chinese to North Koreans, apparently by using digital effects to change any chinese related stuff to north korean stuff, and changing the opening.

So why North Korea? China sounds more interesting than North Korea.

The guy who wrote Red Dawn also wrote the backstory of Homefront. Homefront is without a doubt, "Red Dawn: The Video Game"

Of course it is. I haven't played it yet but it looks like the only difference is the fact the main characters aren't high schoolers (a bit more believable).

Hahahahahahahahah how about no. The french resistance was very low-profile during german occupation and every time they organized an ambush on a convoy, germans searched the entire region and practically burned the forest until no-one could survive there. Only when the Operation Overlord begun they started the large-scale guerrila actions, but even then they suffered large casualties and the Paris would have been razed to the ground hadn't the General of the Panzer division further south decided not to enter the city to stop the uprising.
Guerrila actions isn't about going all rambo and blowing shit up while burning enemy bases and shit, you get slaughtered that way before you manage to do anything effective.

Kinda makes sense given the current situation of America, and the fact that China isn't really that hostile and hell-bent on world conquest.

probably been posted, but there was a Red Dawn reference in Homefront (might have been more, but I didn't notice)

Huh, that's pretty cool.
Red Dawn, storyline-wise, is a pretty great idea, and I plan on reading the book/watching the original.
Go Wolverines :v:
For a movie trying to take itself seriously, this is pathetic. There's no way a unified Korea could occupy numerous Asian countries as well as invade the US.
Imperial Japan, who had roughly the equivalent population of a unified Korea today, were overstretched to the max holding down their conquests. That was nowhere near the amount of territory the Homefront Koreans control. The whole plot is just ridiculous. I probably would have watched this if it was China since that could be somewhat plausible.
I'm pissed about them swapping the Chinese for the Koreans.
The speech is going to be so bad. GLORY FOR *completely different voice* NORTH KOREA!
I'm pretty pissed about the Chinese/Korean swapout too; No freaking way Korea has enough airliners to ferry all their troops and equipment. Besides, a large buildup of that kind would be watched regardless of whether it was in Korea or China. Especially today, ANY civilian airliner or otherwise that operates outside of its permissive flightplan will be intercepted by 2 F-15s or F-16s and shot down if there is any indication of hostile behavior.
Also, good luck finding a group of high schoolers today that will fight for America, let alone know how to use a firearm with any sort of proficiency, ESPECIALLY in Detroit!
