fuckin hollywood making movies people want to see fuckin putting a concerted effort to expand the subject matter while staying true to the source material i mean gat DAMN
Indeed.
I just saw something on wikipedia that there are rumors of Kurt Russel having a role in this. Maybe he'll be the downed Air Force pilot
Well given the entire point of the original Red Dawn was fighting a hopeless war in which a guy got his little brother killed and failed completely in resistance, I'd say it'll have some undertone. The Soviets won in the end of Red Dawn, but in the end Colonel Bella lost faith in the cause after seeing his men killing children and let the last two living Wolverines escape to die in peace.
I don't recall the movie ever making it clear whether they live or die, and furthermore, who even won the war. They only say in the epilogue "In time, this war, like all wars ended." Although, since Partisan rock was turned into a monument, I'd assume the US won, or at least took back that part of their homeland.
last i checked the USSR isnt around any more. jeez where have you been?
Would you like a Dumb or a Bad reading rating?
Weren't Nicaragua part of the invasion too in the orignal?
It's mentioned, but they never show any scenes about it. I think at one point Colonel Bella states that he fought in said Nicaraguan revolution
I really wanna see this. I hope it turns out as good. And contributing to the argument, I think the Chinese are cooler than the USSR.
Chinese and their fucking HUMVEE rip-offs.
I hate them having HUMVEE's but if I see them in Deuce and a halfs (M35A2) I'm goin to flip shit just because I love them so much and don't want the commies to have them lol
Actually the Chinese do have replica Humvees: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PRC_HMMWVs [editline]04:43PM[/editline] AM General HMMWV (ours, duh) Shenyang Aircraft Corporation SFQ2040: Dongfeng Motors EQ2050
I would prefer to see this in movie form instead. :25 and 1:12 Also the Chinese logo looks like something that would be in Command and Conquer.

Did you expect to see the PRC flag? I did too.

Most notably, the mayor's car(Pictured below) was repainted and used as a staff car. You can also see a Chevrolet Blazer being used by a Russian patrol: Also, many of the trucks appear to be former American military trucks: Originally, I thought that the budget prevented them from mocking them up as Russian-made vehicles, but later in the movie, you can catch a glimpse of Land-Rovers mocked up as Russian UAZ's. This proves not only that they have a big enough budget to modify a vehicle like that and maybe give it 3 seconds of screen time, but also that the use of American-made vehicles is deliberate for the sake of the setting. That poor Deuce and a half :( and yea I know why they do it but I just like it better when the use the standard vehicles of their respective country.
I never noticed but it makes sense and it makes me love the movie a bit more. There aren't alot of war movies that are accurate but this one was one of them. [editline]11:19PM[/editline] Also a World in Conflict movie would kick so much ass.
I can't wait to see communism prevail. Even if it's for a moment.
It's funny. Everytime you discuss communism and communist countries, you always use the "THERE IS NO COMMUNIST COUNTRIES" argument, but now when communism can shine, even in a movie, you don't seem to have a problem with it.

However, it is just a movie. Even if the motives behind it are not necessarily honorable, it would still be appealing to see the idea you stand behind be portrayed as a successful one. Even if it just a facade for a more imperialist cause, it's still nice to watch if that's the political idea that you follow.
p sure hes joking bro
nice avatar
China better not control all of America in this movie. It has to be a failing invasion like the original for it to be any good. They better not screw it up with modern day ideals either like they did with the day the earth stood still.
MY favorite part of the original was when the teacher walks outside and gets fucked up by a paratrooper.
This is all true. Both in the new and old the invaders make use of American military and civilian vehicles and equipment, as it's very hard to sneak Type-99/T-80 onto a mock civilian aircraft. Infact, much of the equipment in the new film is purposely American equipment with the PLA Occupation flag-star slapped on. Also, the Russians will play a role, as some of the actors are playing Russians. That's the guy playing Russian Colonel Ivanoff. In Russian gear.
Propaganda must be working, part of me is rooting for China despite the fact that I kinda live here.
The Russians better be against the Chinese or I'll- Well fuck it, China's gone and invaded, breaking every fucking rule of common sense, why not screw with world politics a bit more.
Propaganda must be working, part of me is rooting for China despite the fact that I kinda live here.
You dirty Commie sympathizing liberal.
What choo talkin about? China and Russia are best buds now.
The Original Red Dawn: Before starting work on the movie, the cast underwent a realistic intensive eight-week military training course. During that time, production crews designed and built special combat vehicles in Newhall, California. Among their "army" were 15 Soviet armored vehicles (including a ZSU-23-4 "Shilka" mobile antiaircraft gun, several T-72 main battle tanks, and various BMP, BMD and BTR armored personnel carriers), several Yak-38 "Forger" vertical take-off and landing Soviet Naval aircraft (the Soviet Navy flag is clearly visible on the side of the air intake), and three Mi-24 "Hind-A" helicopter gunships (improvised from Aérospatiale Pumas). Soldier Of Fortune magazine reported that the movie's Soviet T-72 tank was such a precise replica that "while it was being carted around Los Angeles, two CIA officers followed it to the studio and wanted to know where it had come from". Five of the 36 parachutists who took part in the invasion scene early in the film were injured when high winds blew them as far as one mile off target. Parachutist Jim Fisher, wearing a Soviet paratrooper uniform including full Soviet insignia and including an AKM Assault Rifle, landed in a tree and found himself calling out to local rescuers including armed citizens and police: "Don’t shoot, don’t shoot! I am not a Russian soldier!"
You know what would be worse? If he landed in a military base XD
i've started to like the kid from drake and josh ever since i saw him in the wackness good movie
I just watched the original, was pretty good.
From what I hear (read: know) this is being shot in Michigan. Not in Detroit but a couple miles away... right by my house. Fuck yeah.
Which city might that be?
