Am I alone in thinking that there's finally an American film that doesn't have Russians as the bad guys? They still apparently have to be communist but then if it wasn't I guess it would be a different movie altogether.
man, i came in here expecting some awesome footage of red alert 2 style shit where soviet paratroopers just land in the middle of new york and open fire on the citizens with badass music in the background. first lay down a terror strike and then afterwards just let everyone know who the boss is. the chinese aren't very intimidating in comparison. hopefully it'll go well.
Yeah that's how invasions work, just drop down some troops and open fire on random civilians.
It just wont be the same without Patrick Swayze or Charlie Sheen. I dressed up at Patrick from this movie last Halloween.
Red Dawn was an ok movie, I found myself being unable to know the characters by name even after the 2nd viewing
You can't out do the original. Is this like a new topic? For our parents it was the scary evil commie Russians and for us is the country that makes fucking everything? [editline]01:07AM[/editline]
The Soviets are so much more badass than the Chinese though.
Agree soooooo fucking much. Let the Soviets reign supreme.
The original was little more than pro-Capitalist propaganda, I expect this to be little different.
This is all true. Both in the new and old the invaders make use of American military and civilian vehicles and equipment, as it's very hard to sneak Type-99/T-80 onto a mock civilian aircraft. Infact, much of the equipment in the new film is purposely American equipment with the PLA Occupation flag-star slapped on. Also, the Russians will play a role, as some of the actors are playing Russians. That's the guy playing Russian Colonel Ivanoff. In Russian gear.
Russian's better be on our side.
It probably wouldn't make sense. "Our follow communism comrades are fighting the capitalist pig dog Americans, what should we do?" "Lets help the Americans!"
It probably wouldn't make sense. "Our follow communism comrades are fighting the capitalist pig dog Americans, what should we do?" "Lets help the Americans!"
The Russians aren't communist anymore... But Russia and China have had very good relations since the fall of the Soviet Union. In the event of war, it's anyone's guess who they'd side with. In reality though, Chinese-American relations are a lot better than Soviet-American relations ever were, I don't think there's going to be any sort of Second Cold War.
I heard somewhere on these forums that it'll take place in Detroit. Let us pray this is not the truth.
Detroit's living conditions probably feel right at home to the average Chinese family.
Is that asshole Josh Peck gunna be in it? NO Well If it stays true to the movie that means josh peck will die. yay!
We better see some german soldiers fighting commies! I can dream... No realy.
This looks like it won't be too bad.
Yeah that's how invasions work, just drop down some troops and open fire on random civilians.
Isn't that how the first oner opened up? I remember seeing a clip of how the soviet soldiers shot an RPG into the high school for absolutely no reason, along with gunning down their teacher and a good number of students.
ITT people who don't understand cold war paranoia.

Really what would you do, it was a war for fuck sake.
The original was little more than pro-Capitalist propaganda, I expect this to be little different.
I hope so.
Mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, RD was on of my all time favourite films, and on the other... Well, remake principle, you know?
Also notice that most of them are still searching the dropped supply's. Really what would you do, it was a war for fuck sake.
I didn't imply that they did it intentionally, I only stated that it was how the first Red Dawn Invasion scene opened.
I think this is probably the first time I have seen China being the bad guy to America for a film. There could be an entire list of movies where China is attacking America, I just don't know of any... makes me kinda feel uncomfortable being Chinese...
you should denounce your heritage and embrace the colors that don't run.
Aww yes, I am looking forward to this. Ill probably go watch it for comedic value and in the knowledge that all we need are a few more movies and we'll be getting another wave of 'Duck and Cover' videos. I wonder what country will meet mass hysteria land after China.

Russia and China are like Britain the the US at this point. The SCO practically through the two into a NATO-like alliance. Russia would definitely side with China, especially with how our relations are going in the past five years with the Russians.

Also cold war paranoia, come on. I'm only seventeen and I understand how deep cold war paranoia got. If you were a suspected commie you could get JAILED. In a nation with freedom of speech.
Yeah, in the 1950's.

(see my post on page two)
they already remade red dawn, it was called modern warfare 2
One is a game, one is a movie. Aside from that, MW2 is nothing like Red Dawn...
