they already remade red dawn, it was called modern warfare 2
Modern Warfare 2 only did because World in Conflict did it, and World in Conflict was a good, semi-independent imagining of an invasion of the continental United States.

Why would they be in the U.S.?
Why would they be in the U.S.?
Because they are part of NATO, and the NATO agreement states that if a member nation is invaded, the others must come to it's aid. So Germany aiding the United States in home defense isn't really far fetched at all.

It takes a couple months to scrape together enough soldiers and equipment to send a significant force of troops across an ocean to aid an ally. Assuming the EU doesn't pussy out and refuse to help completely.

That's what happened in the original. In the predicted alternate reality, the USSR absorbed is eastern European allies and NATO backed out of the conflict, leaving the US and China vs Cuba, the USSR, Nicaragua, Honduras and others. Germany was also unified when the Greens Party took power and disarmed West Germany, although it didn't say if the unification was by force or diplomacy. Either way th whole of Germany ended up communist.

Well if this is ANYTHING like the original, then Europe is under the control of the Green Party/Neutral. That was slightly a ludicrous plot element though. Even if they weren't, with the combined Russian/Chinese alliance Europe would be overrun by the time America is invaded.

I was just saying why they'd be in the US, I didn't say they'd be there instantly.
Oh boy....I would love to see some dead commies. After what they did to us in the DDR...
This comes out the day after my birthday :keke:
Can't wait. Red Dawn was a fantastic movie. Here's to hoping the remake is just as good.
Wolverines!

In the event that this movie sucks:

WOLVERINES!
I wonder how is it gonna end. Just for laughs, I want Russia to run in and throw off the Chinese. Well, maybe off screen if needed (i.e. China invaded, so Chinese troops had to be withdrawn from US).

Wait, the US was Allied with China in the original film?
Wait, the US was Allied with China in the original film?
Yeah but China got nuked by the Russians.
Wait, the US was Allied with China in the original film?
Yes. The film was made during the US-PRC friendship yay yay Soviet-hating powers, UNITE! time period. China was very much anti-USSR because they decided to denounce Stalin, and due to border conflicts and conflicts in Indochina between USSR-backed Vietnam and PRC-backed Cambodia, the two nations were splitting apart. China decided it was a good move to start being friendly with America. Until Mao's death, the two were scratching each other's back and ding-dong-ditching the USSR together, even though they hated everything each other stood for. It would make since that the developers would believe that in 1989 the PRC would ally with America against the USSR. Although, as World in Conflict more accurately portrayed, it was truly more of a coin toss. That issue does not exist currently- Russia and China are each others' best allies, and two of the three founding members of the SCO- Asia's answer to NATO. The Russians would aid the Chinese if anything, unless the film does a little alternate history/future prediction.
So will they have there Type 95s?
Or will it follow the misconception that china use AK47s?

There have been some games (i think, i've seen em with chinese somewhere) where the Chinese use the AK-101 but like you said, might be alternate history somewhere.
Don't they use the Type-95?

QBZ-95, Type 81, Type-56 Carbine (SKS) and the Type-56 Rifle (AK-47) are the current service rifles.
News: The movie is still slated for release but has been pushed back until an undetermined date in 2011.

Please God, cancel this travesty before it goes any further.
Justin Bieber apparently plays one of the Wolverines in the remake.
But seriously, I hated the first Red Dawn. God I hope the Chinese/communists win this time.
