Rather tahn hundreds, the Zulu king could snap his fingers and instantly summon 20,000+ troops to storm a handful of British. It was 80 serviceable soldiers vs. 4,000 Zulu soldier, several hundred of whom had rifles. It was pretty much a miraculous victory.

I think you could equate that to America's Vietnam of the late 19th, early 20th century. I hardly find anything the British did in Africa to be very proud about actually. Militarily speaking, it just proved how "out of touch" the British military syllabus was so I don't see them being quite spectacular in that regard either.
