You just lost all credibility in my mind. You joined a week ago and are making autistic jokes. I went on my spree before it became "gay" to even mention the Fawkes mask. I'm done arguing, thanks.
He's been a facepuncher for over 2 years, actually, mate.
I didn't realize there was a minimum amount of time I had to be on Facepunch to make autistic jokes about a person putting up V masks as their wheatpaste. It's not gay to mention them, but it is gay to consume your time on something like that when you could make something so much cooler. I mean, did you even make the stencil?

I live in a small town and big creative street art isn't as much of an option as it used to be for me. [editline]21st July 2011[/editline] Updating the OP with more relevant information and possibly some tutorials. Give me a while, I'm a bit busy.
I went on a wheat pasting spree a while back and pasted this picture all over my town: It was before it was even gay to mention pedo-bear. am i cool yet guiz [editline]21st July 2011[/editline]
it was more of a fuck with my town kind of thing.
Fuck with your town? What, did you think "What's worse than shitting on these buildings? Oh! V mask!"
I know it's hard, but I think you need to get over it. I was younger then.
I know it's hard, but I think you need to get over it. I was younger then.
I was younger when I made that post, that doesn't excuse it from being shit.
I've been getting more into street art lately. I've wanted to dabble in it, but the fines for it around here are really heavy and I wouldn't be able to effectively pull it off. I've made ONE stencil painting on canvas, but it's nothing special. It was more of an experiment than anything. poop. It was fun to do though. [editline]21st July 2011[/editline] I still have the stencil somewhere.

I'm lucky, because right where I moved is a local hardware store with extremely cheap supplies (sad I don't really have many places to utilize them). I guess I need to be more creative when my only canvases are street signs and tiny walls. By the way, there's a lot of homebrew recipes for street art, it's just a bit time consuming. Much more fun in my opinion though.
Supplies for me aren't the issue really. The issue is the illegality of it lol. If it was legal, I'd be all over it. I'm thinking of my next stencil, but I'm not entirely sure just yet what I want to do.
Do a penis that also happens to be a face.
There's lots of ways to avoid being caught. Spray paints usually one of the harder things to pull off though. Hardware stores usually aren't the way to go about doing it though, i mean, if you have to its ok but they really aren't meant for what you want. What city do you live in Pascall? I've never thought about the fines, I just think about the best ways to not get caught.
San Antonio, TX. And I know there are ways to avoid being caught, but I'm not exactly a pro at them. Not to mention that I still live with family so if I was out at all hours of the night, someone would notice and that wouldn't end well lol. I'll most likely just stick to canvas painting.
You paint? What kind of paintings do you do? If you're at least 18, that makes everything easier, curfew wise. But if not, yeah I feel you, it is kind of a pain. That's a lot of the fun of pulling it off. If you like painting and you're afraid of being caught, you should try wheat pasting. Then you could have everything ready before, and you can practically do those in broad daylight. A good disguise that me and my friends use is a big McDonalds cup full of paste, and a guitar case with the papers in it.
Updated the OP with some more relevant information, made it shorter, took out most of the history stuff, I can throw some of it back in there easily.
Not anything I'm proud of. I mostly just doodle cartoons and do other weird stuff like my Daft Punk Project. And I'm 19. My parents are hideously over protective though. If they found me gone, the cops would be on it in less than 5 minutes. Hoping to move out sometime next year though. I really want to get a big studio space somewhere so I can just do whatever I want and paint and draw and throw colors everywhere.
You should get into wheat pasting. It's much harder to get caught doing it as it's quicker and most people don't even understand what you're doing. There's actually a huge wheatpasting scene in Texas, I think they even made a documentary about it called 'stick em' up'.

Night isn't necessarily the best cover, although it does help greatly if other options are not available. I found that just trying to blend in, pop in and pop out is the best way to go about things. Banksy and a couple of other artists once said that you work better and make better decisions when you're paranoid (paraphrasing). But if you can't find a way to make that work for you definitely keep at the off-street art. Even if it doesn't make it on the streets it's still good art from what I've seen. [editline]21st July 2011[/editline]
A good disguise that me and my friends use is a big McDonalds cup full of paste, and a guitar case with the papers in it.
Never thought of disguising my materials (besides in a shopping bag). I'm more of a plan around getting caught and do it when the situation works best for me kind of guy. Haven't had to run from the cops yet which is a plus. Did get questioned by one after I completed a piece once (not for my art, which is the funny part).
The best disguise is to hide in plain sight. I used to go out in broad daylight dressed up in dickies work clothes with my bucket and brush. People didn't think twice, all they saw was some janitor rubbing some liquid on a wall with a brush.
Well I guess your only hope would be to do it before "curfew" then. Those big mop markers are fun to do doodles with, and they're almost impossible to buff out. It seems like it'd be harder for a girl to do street art though, just because if I were a girl I feel like I would be easier to identify than a boy doing it.

Not many people have access to them but those pasting mops can really add to a professional (if that's what you want to call it) look.
Yeah most likely. I'll just have to see what I can do. Right now my shitty cartoon doodles are my only source of income and that's about 5 bux a month.

And street art definitely isn't a requirement. Just a bit of fun and a way to get a word out sometimes.
A good artist is a good artist but a successful artist is like a successful rock star, very rare. Also, I work better when I'm paranoid, just because I'm on edge, but I definitely don't run from the cops better when I'm paranoid. I know that first hand, you always want to have your route planned out in your head when you're doing something illegal, and pull all the aces you can because you only get one chance to run from that cop. I learned it the hard way when I ran right into a fucking cop one time and got my arm twisted into submission.
Eh it's not so much about compensation. I'll do art regardless if I get money for it or not. I mean, it'd be NICE but it's not a necessity. Doing art for the sake of art is better than doing it solely for the monetary value.
Once an artist gets popular, they usually get type cast too, then you can't do what you want, it's all about the public.
Also, doing small stuff before going out like Space Invader does and THEN pasting it in random places on the street seems a lot less risky than doing huge works. I might try something like that. Small things often get noticed more than large ones sometimes.

Because I'm not so good on the on-the-spot side, I really have to plan around what I want to do. However, in the case of me having to get out of the scene I can manage to think on my feet. I said I've never had to run from cops, doesn't mean I haven't had to hide from them :v: [editline]21st July 2011[/editline]
Also, doing small stuff before going out like Space Invader does and THEN pasting it in random places on the street seems a lot less risky than doing huge works. I have no inspiration but I have no opportunities to do any big art. I prefer to admire the bigger art. [editline]21st July 2011[/editline] Also poll: New OP better, too scarce?
I was confronted by a cop once, he asked me what I was doing with a brush and bucket. I just calmly told him that I was going to go help my friend do work on his house. He just nodded and drove away. Be calm and cool, it's especially important when you're putting a piece up. If you act sketched out, people will pick up on it.
If you have a look out, it's really really useful to have the look out on the cell phone with you, while you have head phones in your phone. Then you just look like you're listening to an iPod, and the look out can be your eyes while you focus and get done quickly. How many pages can a thread have? 70? Is the fashion thread done? Also Agent, sorry about being a dick earlier haha
New OP is good. Although you could have kept the information about Shepherd, Banksy, etc. Just look for more stuff than what's in Exit Through the Gift Shop.
