Actually that's a point, if we use a blog site we can use our own handle and not pay a cent.
Blogspot/blogger is pretty good, I have a sort of abandoned blog on it. Managed to remove all of the frills that come with it, since I wanted something independent looking, which is what we'd be going for.
http://makoskydub.blogspot.com - Just as an idea of how clean you can get it.
Edit: Actually forget that, I like the idea of having a .com to represent us, far better.
For blogging, I prefer Tumblr. The layout is simple and the interface is easy peasy.
But buying a domain would be preferable. At 11 bux a year, I'm fairly sure we can work with that.
10 bucks is nothing, if no one can throw in I can cover the entire thing. The cost isn't that big of a deal.
Yeah if someone pays I'll be able to do the design it with a buddy of mine who might want to get involved.
Well then we've got a good thing going here.
You guys are rad and I look forward to doing this with you.
Once we get our first collab project done, I'll purchase the domain. I'm sure I can scrounge up enough for it unless you guys want to help out, then just get at me when the project is done.
And for our whole "message" and "organization", there's no limit to how many people can be involved, so if you guys want to contribute to it in the future, keep following this thread.
This gon' be gud.

I'll go 50/50 with you man.
The more people that contribute, the smaller the contribution gets! Don't be shy everyone!
Edit: I guess it's 1/3 each then

At some point we could get a whole community going.
My friend is pretty good at graffiti art. He goes by the name June or Keeno in Austin TX if anyone has seen his tags. He's been doing more stickers though and the Paint Pens. I'm going to bring him my guitar's pickguard and have him use paint pens on it then spray a clearcoat over it.
I've always loved seeing well executed street art. There's a whole lot of it around Congress Ave; which is our bigger "strip." There was an old abandoned movie theater that has a great mural all over one of the walls (50 ft x 50 ft I think). It's pretty amazing.
One idea:

Pretty crappy, so I'm scrapping it and trying something else
I think that looks pretty cool to be honest.
I'm going to do one where a person is riding a segway except they're holding a handlebar remote and the wheels are their robotic legs

I did a quick sketch of my idea. A depiction of "the machine" as a giant robot, extending a dollar, with a slogan like "The Machine Loves You".
The lighting would be dilineated with either lined hatching or solid black spaces. I'm thinking of adding a tiny bit of of pink and green, just in the "<3" and the dollar, then again there's the issue of cost.
And as for the domain, I'll gladly contribute some money, I could even cover it myself if you guys want.
Another idea would be to have a donation link on our final website to fund the domain as well as using this to split between main contributors who may need the extra money for supplies. Or just a way to fund our marketing campaign.
You know, just for anything we may need. But we might want to hold off on that until we start actually getting views. Just something to think about for the future.
Good idea, course step 1 will be completing this first collab.
Yep.
Well I'm heading to bed. Get your ideas out on paper so we can see what we can come up with. This is going to be radical.

I like this a bit more, what do you guys think?
I might make a better version (this is just a mockup, hence the ridiculous size)
Nice work on the announcement
Could I request that you add a mention of the potential detriment of two-seconds tags and other talentless eyesores that constitute why graffiti is considered "vandalism" in the public eye?
We want authority figures to understand the benefits of such a movement after all, given their current position and our currently non-existent voice

I think It would be more readable if it were at a 3/4 view.
I'll be the aussie one, in the Graffiti capital.
(Melbourne, that is).
I've got a ton of experience, and if anyone wants it, I'll do a startup guide.

I'm going to completely redo it, I was just wondering what you guys thought of the idea

I like the idea and would love to see more.
"Imagine a city where graffiti wasn't illegal, a city where everybody draw whatever they liked. Where every street was awash with a million colours and little phrases. Where standing at a bus stop was never boring. A city that felt like a party where everyone was invited, not just the estate agents and barons of big business. Imagine a city like that and stop leaning against the wall - it's wet. "
I read this in his book- Wall and Piece. I've always loved that Idea.
I've also always wanted to get into street art, but I'm not good at drawing. I've always wanted to make a stencil and spray it everywhere, but I could never think of an idea.
I'd love to join this project.
[editline]21st July 2011[/editline]
Well here's a thought, in this collaborative effort we could use a uniform image, but on top of that for any individual work we do, we could include a URL in or near the piece that links to a page that explains our message. Then any likeminded artist to read it could add it to their own work as well
Just a passing fancy
or we could wheat-paste a QR code that brings you to the site
Not everyone can scan QR though. Plus wear and tear would mess up codes.

ah, didn't think of that.
Messing around with sharpies. This is an un-edited first draft.

Scanner makes it look scragglier than it looks on the paper. I'll do a couple more revisions and then fix it up with photoshop if it fits into our collab.
I'm gonna spend a shit ton of time on the last one and probably cross hatch the entire jacket and tie really slowly to give it color and form without looking like shit
Final version (apart from the slogan):

gonna work on some other ideas now, I'm really liking the stuff you guys are making, it's fantastic
