I see Tom Cruise continues to dramatically run away from things. Guy runs from shit more than any other actor.
Born On The 4th of July, Eyes Wide Shut, Rain Man, Vanilla Sky, A Few Good Men, The Firm, The Color Of Money, Valkyrie...
Also Magnolia.
so they turned a dangerous yet cheerful adventure film to a generic hollywood action-drama booooooo
I can't see it being much worse than the most recent, 3rd film. I remember watching the first one as a kid and that scene with the scarabs scared the shit out of me
Bring back the old cast =(
Pretty sure Boris Karloff has been dead for a while.
Shit I blinked and missed the whole teaser.
Can we balance this out by making a cheesy comedy reboot of Mission Impossible starring Brendan Fraser? :vs:
I miss Arnold Vosloo, no matter if he was terrible at acting or not, he was awesome in the mummy, also loved Boiling Point aswell
Fraser made the mummy good And a few other actors whose names I can't remember
Fraser made the mummy good And a few other actors whose names I can't remember
John Hannah (Jonathan) near single-handedly provided nearly all the comedic moments in all three movies, and is my favorite character from the series
I am very surprised by people here shitting on Tom Cruise all the time, what the hell people ? I'm guessing the average Facepuncher is probably too young to even know about his best movies. He is 54 years old and made many great and critically acclaimed movies for 30 years already; Born On The 4th of July, Eyes Wide Shut, Rain Man, Vanilla Sky, A Few Good Men, The Firm, The Color Of Money, Valkyrie... The people criticizing him might want to widen their own horizons, check out his other films and learn why he is such a well know actor and still relevant after all these years. I do agree some of his newer movies are similar, it's mostly action or sci-fi. But then again, that is the current state of Hollywood. Drama and thrillers are not getting into headlines like they used to.
Was bored and read some stuff about him, apparently in the mummy 2 he fucked his back up really bad and wasn't able to do his own stunts anymore and also allegedly became addicted to painkillers for a while. I imagine those two things made him put on a bunch of weight (plus the stress of the divorce) poor guy
I wonder if this will be canonically connected to battlefield earth.
Sorry no, mummy doesn't exist without Fraser
Yes it does.
Pretty sure Boris Karloff has been dead for a while.
Doesn't that make him more suited for the movie?
bring HIM BACK!
Tom Cruise was also good in Edge of Tomorrow, I really enjoyed that movie. I though the first Mission: Impossible was good too, as was Ghost Protocol. EDIT: really the problem with Cruise is that he's kind of fucking nuts in real life, but I think he's a fairly good actor when he gets the right role.
As RLM pointed out, hes pretty much Tom Cruise in every movie he does with little variation. It works when the role fits but I think hes overrated as an actor tbh.

You really should check out his older films. Just scroll through the thread for recommendations. You might as well limit Harrison Ford to Han Solo and Indiana Jones and say he is the same guy in every movie, ignoring all the amazing drama movies and thrillers he made during the years. Or judge his entire career by the last 10 years where he didn't make anything as important as when he was in his primes.
