I haven't seen a single GOOD funny show using a live audience/laugh track since Seinfeld.
Cory in the House.
Checkmate.
I see people say this a lot, there's NO FUCKING WAY that that not a laugh track.
The show is fucking made for laugh tracks with all the pauses, that is now a live audience.
you realize if it were an audience they would still pause to let them finish laughing and not interrupt
The funny thing about this show is from about Season 2 I began to realize the nerd humor was poorly done (I know, shoot me, but I did enjoy the first season or so). My parents loved it up until recently as well.
I think what changed is that Chuck Lorre (sp?) doesn't know what he wants to do with the characters. Sometimes Leanord is confident, sometimes he's so shy it's amazing he doesn't live under a rock. And I don't even know what to say about Sheldon. His sexist "antics" in the last episode kind of made me cringe, and didn't even seem to fit with his character.
I guess they just ran out of ideas for character development?
It is filmed in front of a live audience, but yeah they definitely add more laughs in post.

It sounds like they used a laugh track in those bloopers, too. :v:
At a few points, like 8:13, you can tell it's definitely real.

That wasn't an audience member; that was a crew person laughing obnoxiously behind her (which is why she turns around and makes the scene a blooper). The audience is in front of her.
I miss the days of the Drew Carey Show and Seinfeld with believable, minimal use of canned laughter and more of a focus on a live audience.
You do realize the show would be nothing without laughing in the background. Live shows have signs that light up at moments when the writers want people to laugh, whether the jokes are funny or not since laughing is contagious to people watching.
This show is trash and unfunny, you should feel bad for watching it.

Shit sorry bro I guess I should like exactly what you like. Can you give me a list?
What would this show be without Penny...
Potentially entertaining.
I don't get it, do people here like the show or is everybody in here being sarcastic?
Personally I don't like it and I don't care if other people like it, but I thought everybody on FP hated BBT, and I can't tell if everybody in this thread is just taking the piss ha.

Honestly, there's some things I like, (And a lot I don't) but there isn't much on TV anymore that I can sit down with my folks and watch together.
So I just roll with it. (Although that last episode where they had the car stolen was really, really, cringe worthy)

They kinda shot themselves in the foot introducing love interests for the two other characters, despite being simple characters themselves, it shows that Penny is the most one dimensional character ever. Her character trait is "I'm dumb."
That's it. That's all she's in the plot to do.

It's a bloody sit com, not Breaking Bad.

7:45 - 8:10
Is that proof enough for it being live?
That wasn't an audience member; that was a crew person laughing obnoxiously behind her (which is why she turns around and makes the scene a blooper). The audience is in front of her.
If you watch at the 7:45-sequence you'll see that the dude that corrects her comes from the same direction she points in when she mentions the audience and why couldn't she react the way same to an audience member laughing?

The laughing actually sounds like it overlaps between the scenes.
It's a bloody sit com, not Breaking Bad.
When we have shows like 30 Rock, Community, Parks and Rec, and How I Met Your Mother setting a standard for decent comedy, it's just absolute shit compared to them
It's a bloody sit com, not Breaking Bad.
Arrested Development does everything right and it's a sitcom.
Guys, I understand questioning the shows quality and comparing it, but really, this is getting out of hand. You guys are debating whether or not its filmed in front of a live audience, for heavens sake. Just leave the thread to those who do enjoy the show and wanna talk about it. I don't mean "dont say anything bad about it just gtfo" but it's just getting ridiculous. Let these people enjoy the show, if you don't, fine, but there's not much point in saying what's already been said 100 times.

Your point being? As long as it's funny it doesn't matter. Sit coms don't need amazing characters, it just helps. I'm not holding up TBBT as the holy grail of comedy because it isn't. It's just nowhere near as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

The main problem is that it relies on boring stereotypes that aren't funny.

I don't care much for the characters, just the jokes. I find a lot of them funny.
The main problem is that it relies on boring stereotypes that aren't funny.
That aren't funny to you. C'mon, with the amount of viewers TBBT gets, you can't honestly say that the jokes it makes aren't funny when clearly there's a large amount of people enjoying them.
I haven't even watched a full episode of TBBT and I don't have an opinion on it, but this is just getting silly. Most of your arguments are completely subjective, which doesn't work well.

That argument isn't valid when two and a half men is popular.
And before anyone says it yes I am aware that they have the same creators.

What argument? It's completely understandable to like two and a half men and dislike TBBT, they're the same creators sure but that doesn't suddenly make them the same in quality. Different premise, stories, characters, you can like one but not the other, it's still completely subjective and to spread around the fact that you don't like it as a fact that it is a terrible show is just a silly thing to do.
