It doesn't have a mind of it's own, it has your mind. If you ask it something trivial (Like, let's say, do you believe in god) it would answer honestly and sometimes you may not like the answer. If you ask it something that you already know, like 2 + 2, it'll answer 4, since you know this.
That doesn't mean that it won't answer and do things independantly, it will. I go on adventures with my sub and it acts on it's own.

When I said mind of it's own, I mean more acts at it's own will. Like, nothing I think consciously when I ask a question affects it's answer. But that's extremely weird, I'm interested to know what my own subconscious would be like. Do they take on your own personality, or is it just an emotionless thing?

It depends, really. It's basically the manifestation of your pure self, so what personality it shows (or even if it does) reflects something inside you that you want to be shown.
For example, mine typically resembles Agent Smith from the Matrix (not anymore, due to a rather unfortunate incident). It looks like this for a couple reasons, but mainly just because it's logical and I appreciate logic.
Jake's, as another example, is a horny Ellen Page who loves to jump his bones. that means he's lonely.
Basically it'll just take whatever form it wants, but there's always a reason behind it. Sometimes you just won't know what that reason is right away.

My sub's personality is a tomgirl esque in the form of ellen page which I guess corresponds to my liking of going on adventures with her.
Zin however is a logical serious personality with little emotion and built soley on logic, in the form of himself resembling agent smith.
The difference between our subs is he chose to have his that way, mine just kinda went with it

Alternatively, toast banana bread. It tastes weird, but it's good for LDing.
My idea takes the swing off the banana flavor and removes the need for a beverage because you're drinking it.
ON TOP OF THAT, it's storable in the fridge without getting bad
