I had a semi-lucid dream the other night. I had a false awakening, and stood staring at my hands. I didnt feel like I was in control, but I was definitely conscious and I knew it was a dream. Immediately I RC'd and had the most surreal experience of my life as I watched my left index finger go through my right palm. Then I woke up.
Over several years I've been getting decreasing amounts of sleep until last year where it dropped to roughly 5 hours each night. I made up for that with 12+ hours at weekends. Then this year, all that lack of sleep caught up with me. I've been falling asleep for about 5 hours whenever I get home and a few months ago I was suddenly exhausted and slept for about 40 hours. It annoys me because it means I have no free time since I'm always asleep. Makes for some awesome/weird as fuck dreams though.
You slept for 2 days?!
I was so close to doing a WILD last night but then my cat jumped on me clawing because I was on his favorite pillow.
I just got back from Mexico. It was great. Give me a couple hours and i'll start replying again.
A few nights ago I dreamed I was a bear tamer. Then a tiny bear bit my dick and I was just like "Nah, it's cool bro," then my dick healed instantly. This repeated itself 40 times, each time with the same outcome. Then I bought "the world's smallest walrus" fell backwards into quicksand and stopped breathing for 3 minutes. In real life. My dreams suck ass. :ohdear:
Sometimes in my dreams I am trying to walk over to reach something like a ball or i am trying to run and dispite my best attempt I can never go faster than a walking pace or the ball rolls away from me just faster than I am walking and it feels so stressful, when I wake up my heart is beating faster than usual. I know it sounds dumb but has anyone else experienced this?
I wish I could record (Or at least remember better) my dreams :saddowns: they're always so good.
HOLY SHIT! I was just reading this thread for the first time and was thinking to myself that I have to try this. Then I read "Next time, count until the buzzing, then just let your thoughts, like. Envelop you." I realised I think I've done this before, when I'm in bed sometimes I'd drift off on purpose into a world of my own. I'm not actually sure if this is lucid dreaming but I'd build a world of my own that I can actually control, it's more just imagining, but I'd get lost in this world and loose track of time. Is this a mild form of lucid dreaming? I'd come out of it randomly at points. Edit: Looking back it doesn't fit the descriptions you give so it's most likely very involved daydreaming
I guess I used to have hypnogagia around the age of six. At least, from what I've read, that's the only possible explanation. I have terrifying memories of scary shit appearing in my room and stuff as I was lying in my bed half-awake, trying to sleep at last... I can recall every reoccurring figure that terrorized me every single night, even if the lights outside the door were on... It was usually nothing but one of the reoccurring figures glancing into my room through the door, or from behind my wardrobe, and i shat my pants. Damn, I'm real glad I could overcome that.
Is there any way to make dreams feel longer? I wake up and can only remember an event that was maybe 2-8 seconds long. It's possible that I'm just not remembering any of the dream other than the last few moments. I've been doing a reality check each time before I go to bed, and I guess I'll start doing the journal.

Was in the middle of a huge sort of destroyed quarry in a desert fighting orcs with these fucking huge calibre guns that fired rounds the size of my fist, wasn't panicked or anything and one pinned me so i stabbed it got up and continued. Fairly standard, I sorta "felt" the orc hit me and me go down but everything looked like it was in a tunnel and sorta distant and I had to try and hold the image really hard or else it all just broke dowm, I was paralysed at the time. What the fuck happened and why was it distant and how do I bring it closer :v:

I don't play WoW :v:
ok so i read the OP and im gonna try this but im skeptical which already puts me off to a bad start

no i mean im skeptical as to whether i can do it
I had an interesting experience with lucid dreaming this morning. I found out about lucid dreaming over a year ago and since then I've tried the WILD technique a few times, with no success. But last night I was reading this thread and thought I'd try it again as I went to sleep. It didn't work, but when I woke up the next morning I tried it yet again. I think I lay still for about ten minutes before I became uncomfortable and turned over. Then I lay there for another twenty minutes before something happened. I can't remember how, but I became aware of a strange noise and pulsating sensation in my head. It kept going away and coming back until something told me to get up. When I opened my eyes, I was still in my bed. I had the feeling I was in a dream but I wasn't sure so I tried to stand up. I remember finding it really difficult to do this and falling over a lot but by the time I left my room, it was much easier to move. By this stage, I was pretty sure I was dreaming so I stepped outside and made my way down the hill behind my house. It didn't occur to me at the time, but certain buildings were out of place and it wasn't cold, despite being winter down here. When I felt the dream fading, I span around and rubbed my hands together, which seemed to work. Then I came across a man with a small poodle. I decided to see if I could make both of them disappear using the method described in the OP:
If they won't go away, focus on them not being there, close your eyes, and spin 360 degrees and open your eyes. They're gone.)
When this didn't work the first time, the poodle started barking and attacked me. Not wanting anything to wake me up, I tried again. This time it worked and the man and the dog simply vanished while I had my back to them. Not wanting to waste any more time, I tried to summon my subconscious mind in the form of a person. I remember hearing distant thunder as the world grew darker before suddenly waking up. The whole thing lasted approximately one minute. While this wasn't my first experience with lucid dreaming, it was certainly my most interesting. I can only remember having two lucid dreams before this, both of which were achieved through performing reality checks. What I don't understand is why my experience with the WILD technique was so inconsistant with those of accounts I've read. First of all, my hypnagogic imagery never advanced beyond monochromatic lines and dots. There was no picture or scene that materialized and granted me passage to my dream. Secondly, I can't remember suddenly hearing the noise in my head. It was like I gradually became aware of it or woke up to it. The third thing, and this has been the case in all of my lucid dreams so far, is the fact that I failed to fully comprehend things like objects not being in their right places. It's almost as if I was drowsy in my own dream. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is the case?
i dreamt about weiners before
Had a dream about playing Mario. I think I should lay off the video games.
So wait, if you want to "ask your subconscious" you have to summon it? because if you HAVE to summon it this makes me feel alot better about lucid dreaming, becuase i dont want to see my subconscious and randomly ask "what is my biggest fear" without even thinking. [editline]06:35AM[/editline] becuase i do that alot.
It seems that what I have to look for in my lucid dreams are my ex being there and us being back together, last night's lucid dream was too realistic and I woke up this morning sweaty and depressed :frown:
I'm pretty sure I'm somniphobic. How would I maybe combat this?
I suck at lucid sex. I always end up being a gentlemen or rejected. One time I went so far that I had to look at internet porn IN MY DREAM because I got rejected. Putting that aside, my best lucid experience was riding my bike in the air, E.T. style.
I had two WILDs last night. First was nice. I woke up at night and went back to sleep, heard buzzing and my body was vibrating strongly. Despite that, I stayed perfectly calm and the sensations settled down. I rose from my bed and felt the sheets fall off my body, then did a reality check by holding my nose and blowing, I could breathe. It was a dream. I imagined myself in a classroom, and I appeared there. Then the classroom door opened, and some dream character dude came in, did a ninja jump kick at my chest causing me to stumble backwards and wake up. Darn. Second wild was one of my creepiest ever. Same thing. I woke up, went back to sleep. Heard buzzing and felt vibrations. But this time, I head a voice. "I'm taking your body", it said. It repeated the same thing over and over again, saying it faster and faster the further I was into the transition stage. It freaked me the fuck out and I woke up before I could get into the lucid.
Had a lucid last night, it was fucking awesome and how i relized it was a dream was pretty cool aswell. I went round my mates (non-lucid) and knocked on his door and saw he had a porch relized to myself that "hang on, he got rid of his porch ages ago" and then turned lucid everytjhing was going pixilated so i thought "shit" and remembered to spin round and clap for some reason i added "Why do they always send the poor" probably i was listening to BYOB from the phone next to me but it worked everything went clear so i thought to myself about things i could do and so i jumped but when i jumped i was going the normal hight so i thought "this is my dream" and was jumping the hight of houses i was so pleased with myself. Later on after i stopped jumping arouind i smashed someones door in and ate their cake why, Just cause and scorpio was standing there eating some of this cake he offered me some so i took it sadly i could not taste anything so i finished it and went back to jumping, while i was jumpimg i relized i was going higher and higher each time until i landed got hit by a car and my mum violently woke me up. So for my first lucid i'd say that was good.
It's almost as if I was drowsy in my own dream. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is the case?
Some people are like that. I can sometimes recognize lucidity by feeling it, because my chest feels weird but I'm really alert. It's hard to explain, but to answer your question, it's probably just the way you do it. Everyone does it in different ways.
I woke up, went back to sleep. Heard buzzing and felt vibrations. But this time, I head a voice. "I'm taking your body", it said. When I tried a WILD a few nights ago , after around 20-30 mintues of lying still I heard a loud buzzing in my left ear. Like there were bees buzzing right next to it. What does this mean? Also after I heard the buzzing I got scared and decided to get up and sleep on my side, but my movements felt very laggy or something.

You'd have likely gotten a WILD. The lagginess was probably partial sleep paralysis. [editline]02:53PM[/editline] And the voice I heard was a hypnagogic hallucination that came with the sleep paralysis that came with the transition stage of awake->sleep.
