Is going straight into a WILD on the first try uncommon?
Without the whole waking up in the middle of the night part?
It's not uncommon, but it's rare because it's hard to do. Takes discipline.
I can never do WILD. I get freaked out by the random sounds and hallucinations and try to fall asleep.
When I was a kid and I was having a nightmare, I could always wake myself up. I just closed my eyes inside the dream and said to myself "Wake up, wake up, it's just a dream!". Sometimes it took a while, but it always worked. Did I have the chances to get lucid? Or was this already a lucid dream?
I got sleeping problems for some reason. Can't fall asleep for hours but when I do I sleep really good. I usually drink some booze and it works. Is there a way to fall asleep faster without having to fuck up my liver?
Decided to give this a try for the first time last night, sounded really cool.
I got some paper, pen and a flashlight and put it by my bedside ready to write down any dreams that I remember. Anyways as I was lying in bed I remember repeating in my head 'I will remember my dreams' 'I will dream tonight' etc. It was weird as I was drifting off, didn't quite feel right. Anyway, it worked! It wasn't lucid but I dreamed, and I'm obviously obsessed with Lost.
There may be a beginning part of this dream missing, but this is the earilest into the dream I remember. I was a bird of some sort, and me, a friend (No idea who he was) and my wife were trying to hike up this really steep bank, we needed to be at the top for some reason, all I know is that it was important. This steep bank was mostly loose dry dirt so getting a grip was very hard. Anyways I was hopping up (I have no idea why i couldn't have just flown up, I was a bird afterall). But suddenly I was human, and so were my wife and friend, although I'm not sure if I was myself. Anyway my feet kept slipping and sliding and I was on all fours trying to get to the top. My friend was to the right of me a little ahead and my wife was directly infront of me (I'm 18 and single in the real world), next I tried to make a sacrifice or something, I grabbed hold of my wifes feet and pushed her that little bit further to the top, once I had done this I landed on my stomach and started sliding back down to the bottom, although somehow I knew this was going to happen. My friend manages to grab me until I get a grip again and we continue climbing, my wife is nowhere to be seen. I finally reach the top and see my wife waiting for me in the distance (She looked a lot like Sun from lost :/). My friend, walking with me takes a captains hat off my head and goes to give her it, instead, he hands it to me and I give her it, she takes off a hat shes already wearing and puts it on, it was as if i was holding onto the hat for her and i had finally given her it back. I then hug her and she hugs me back (It was like we hadn't seen each other for years or something). Anyway, we walked across this big field at the top off the bank and it was either jets or helicopters flying overhead, that had came to rescue us (?).
The next part of the dream was me and a few other people standing in front of what looked like an army General or Captain. There were lots of soliders by his side and in the background these wierd looking sirens. Best explained as sirens facing a concrete satalite dishes, facing the sky, people directly beneath them controlling them (No noise though). My first guess was a sonic weapon. It was all like a freaky mixture between Avatar and Lost. The next thing I remember is them playing these sonic weapons into things like caves and against cliff edges... with no effect, seemed pointless, probably was. It was as if we were taking part in the showcasing of a top secret weapon. The next thing I remember is John Locke from Lost opening a medical bag and pulling out a medical drip that goes into your arm, and just examining it. Wat.
Then... I remember waking up at about 3AM and writing down my dreams, but this part was flawed, because i went to bed at about 3:30, and I didn't turn on any lights to write the dreams down. It felt real, but I later realised it was a dream too.
When i really woke up, i checked my dream log, nothing was there... it felt very real writing it down. I then did write down my dreams for real.
And that's it, my dream. Hoping there's more to come :D
Bananas help with dream recall right, though you still need to remember to remember your dreams?
I've tried going into a WILD by counting my breath, but I always fall asleep using this technique. Am I doing it wrong, is there something else to it or does the technique have a low succes rate?
i had a fucked up dream
apparently i was the new vice president of america. my town (in NZ) was somewhere near the center of america it appears, as was the town i was in, although it looked like nothing i'd ever seen. anyway, i was being led around a room by my mum, shaking hands with people who were to be like my advisors or helpers or some shit. kind of strange, they were all sitting alone, usually with a phone out, and 2 out of 3-5 were black - one was weddick or w/e his name is from flashforward and the other was.. obama.
so there i am walking around, then some guy takes to the podium and we sit down, then the scene changes to like a long table, we're all sitting, my mum is at the head of the table, i'm on her left side. then a nuclear strike happens -- there's mountains in the distance, and only green fields between here and there. i immediately dive for cover, get everyone else to as well. i have this weird closeup of contrasting sandbags on a huge field of green grass being shaken around and knocked over everywhere. we're all horrified and somehow i'm in the state of being vice president (yeahhhh) and have a feeling of responsibility for these people. i'm also damn scared.
then, we're suddenly in a carpark of some sort. there's a white van, somehow the presidential one, with the driver knocked out for some reason - he wasn't in there when the strike occurred, and me wanting to check on him. as well as this, people that i know from my town are getting out of the garage right beside us, in their own cars, and all getting off to my town which is apparently close by. my mum and i are in our car, and i'm getting her to somehow get near the van by reversing around the carpark (apparently walking doesn't walk :- ( ). then, after we're in some sort of reserved spot of parks, with german flags on them, the van's gone. we're going back to our town with the utmost urgency, we're talking about it heaps. and just as we drive out, and pass into a tunnel, i wake up, thinking: what. the fuck.
Well imma try MILD tonight hopefully i'll spot something out of place and turn lucid like i did before.
How's this for a mantra : During my dream I will remain conscience Good? I need something short. I've only used MILD once and it was unsuccessful because of my lengthy mantra

Usually "I will remember my dreams" is enough, the word DREAM is usually enough to trigger lucidity if you're as experienced as you are.
Tried WILD last night, i was lying on my back with my eyes closed and started counting to 200. I didn't move an inch but i had to keep on swallowing and the lamp next to my bed kept cracking from the heat and that gave me a shock a few times. About 150 seconds in i felt myself floating off, and heard a blasting ringing tune in my ears, i then started repeating 'I'm dreaming' in my head so i would be lucid. My heart was racing for some reason, i could actually hear my own heartbeat and i kept getting hot flushes (It was a very warm night) and the fading stopped. i was back to normal.
I couldn't get it to happen again, i counted to 600 and nothing. I have no idea why my heart was going so fast but i think it was keeping me from dreaming.
[editline]11:52AM[/editline]
I then tried MILD and had about 3-4 dreams, but they weren't lucid.
tried a WILD last night, can't say it was sucessfull but..
i was doing the whole walking down stairs thing, i remember getting to about 80, then i was getting the usual-about-to-fall-asleep stuff that happends in my head (stuff plays out infront of me (not, litrally i mean in my 'minds eye'" and i can hear talking) then, i felt weird all of a sudden, like i was really drunk or light-headed or soemthing and somone was pulling me into it
Then i got excited, freaked out and woke up. >:(

Lucid Dreaming sounds great. I've gotten close once or twice, where I still vaguely remember being lucid for a part of it, but even then I'm not sure whether it was actually lucid dreaming or not.
Being as impatient as I am, I want to achieve lucidity quite quickly. What's the quickest way to get lucid? Or is there any particular one at all? And by quickest way, I mean is there one that doesn't take 3-4 weeks of constant practice to achieve 1 hour of lucidity? Even better would be one I can do tonight.
One last thing, if I ever do get lucid, is it easy to talk to people/your self conscious? I have a couple of questions to ask myself.

Try WILD, or C-WILD. You don't need a whole lot of experience, just the ability to stop yourself freaking out. There's also a chance you will have just forgotten it all in the morning anyway seeing as it's your first time.
Zinayzen are you drunk?
Looks like a lot of things are hard to do when you're having you're first lucid dream (e.g. summoning ppl and stuff).
Does anybody have a tip on what kind of things that are cool AND possible to do when having your lucid-dream debut?

abosutely. why do you ask/
Yesterday I dreamed that someone said I had such a hunchback and it would grow larger and larger, then I said to myself in the dream "This must be a dream", too bad it didn't went lucid...

I'm like that sometimes, I'm really stubborn. All the signs are there, i even think "Is this a dream?" but i shake it off, or nothing happens.
Just to make things clear, if i enter sleep paralysis, i just close my eyes are relax, and i should enter a lucid dream?
I was so close last night but my heart was racing, and as i started to float off i panicked (didn't move though). I really need to find a way to calm myself down, i get too excited.
I dreamed I was following Robert Downey Jr. around a mall and he was acting like my dad, guiding me through the clothing rails in a hurried manner, everything went bright and blurry, and I awoke to my mother ripping the curtains open and loudly exclaiming that it was half past twelve and I should 'wake the fuck up!' I guess I'll never know what dad was going to buy me.
I have a quick question. If, while lucid dreaming, you specifically ask your sub to only TELL you what your biggest fear is, instead of just asking what it is, what will happen?
I don't find all that stuff about SD scary. Is that good? I might try going LD tonight. I've never done it before. Is it a good way to start it is making a box fill of cats in front of me or is that too complicated?
Went on a trip last week with some friends and my dad. had a lucid dream where I started locking doors with my mind, I also tried to image a door on a wall but it never appeared.
Then my dad moved his foot which mine was on top of and woke me up :saddowns:
I also had a dream that I think was based off Perfect Dark.
I had a dream I was at school. It was kinda cool.
I hardly ever remember my dreams.
