I'm really not in the mood to go find my rant about it, but trust me. Whatever you think your worst fear is, you're wrong. There's something far, far worse. Usually it's so incredibly dark and evil and vile that your conscious self just rejects it. This fear has never crossed your mind, you wouldn't even have nightmares about it. But believe me. It's there, and it's not something you want to uncover. It stays with you for days, sometimes weeks. I needed three days of therapy after I tried it, and I didn't sleep for a week.
Help! I think I had my first lucid dream? This bit is weird because I look at my hands and it looks like the effect you get when you look at one of your fingers up close but on all my fingers...
Yeah, you had a lucid dream. The part that I bolded is important because that's one of the easiest (and best) ways to check if you're dreaming. if that happens, then you're almost guaranteed to be dreaming (or you have terrible eyesight and didn't wear glasses). If you start at your hands and concentrate, you can make them vivid, which makes the rest of the dream vivid as well. Also, closing your eyes and spinning in a circle slowly while looking down seems to work, but the hands thing is better. Just look at your hands and tell them to become clearer and in-focus. Dude, you still haven't update the op. Will that still happen?
Was it a family member or a girlfriend? Betting it was one of the two.
... Family member :frown:
... Family member :frown:
Girlfriend's almost WORSE. I don't want to sound bad saying that, but it's true. It's a different kind of relationship.
Dude, you still haven't update the op. Will that still happen?
Yeah. Writing it now, but I've got a job and I'm busy. :<
Girlfriend's almost WORSE. I don't want to sound bad saying that, but it's true. It's a different kind of relationship.
The detail of it all was just gruesome, dare I recall the story.
The detail of it all was just gruesome, dare I recall the story.
Do it if you want, but god knows I'm not telling mine again. It was probably similar, though.
Helplessly watching the death of ___?
yep.
yep.
Fucking sucks man
I hate this, i can kick myself out of a dream and wake myself up but i just cannot seem to achieve lucidity any more.
Girlfriend's almost WORSE. I don't want to sound bad saying that, but it's true. It's a different kind of relationship. Yeah. Writing it now, but I've got a job and I'm busy. :<
Is it always someone dying?
Is it always someone dying?
If that's your biggest fear. I don't know if it's biggest fear, unless you're constantly afraid your family will die, which most people aren't. I think your brain runs through many varying bad situations and finds the one that causes the most trauma. Like a supercomputer, and instead of finding your most conscious fear such as spiders and whatnot, it finds the worst case scenario using information stored in your brain. One part of me knows it's a bad idea. And the other part is curious. And I'm so stupid and OCD that might be the first thing I ask it, purposely or not. But I'm still wondering, if it's hard to recall dreams, how did you guys remember what you saw? Did you instantly wake up so the memory was fresh? Or was it so terrifying you couldn't get it out of your mind? When I think of past dreams, the only ones I can recall for more than a year are my nightmares. I can only remember normal dreams for a few months at most. [editline]11:22PM[/editline] I'm also wondering, is it like real life where you have your thoughts and your voice. Where you can think something but not say it? Or will I ask it the moment the thought runs through my mind? If so, I probably shouldn't be talking to my subconscious anytime soon.
Am I the only one that get's "real life" dreams? By that I mean my dreams relate to my real life, kinda like an extension of the day, or a different choice in the day. I don't get any other dreams, it's kinda hard to explain. My dreams usually take place dependent on the context, for example if it's about the film I saw a few days ago it'll most likely take place in the cinema. One I had a few days ago (I remember this one really well, not sure why) was an almost re enactment of when I went to the cinema, but I was with different friends strangely. Also, on thursday I stood on my DS, breaking it. That night I dreamed playing my DS and it was fixed (Wario Ware DIY, I remember the title screen) I know I haven't explained that very well, but it's kinda hard seeming as I don't remember my dreams very well. I've just found it weir din discussions in dreams and people talk about these crazy dreams, such as the one with seven cows in it, and I get my reality(sort of) dreams.
I tried to WILD last night. I went to bed at 12:15AM and set my cell phone to wake me up at 4:45AM. When I woke up, I went to the bathroom and went back to bed and tried to relax, but after ~30 minutes I started feeling tense and couldn't relax :sigh:
Easy enough to notice dream signs and become lucid if everything is normal, that consistency will allow you to pin-point dream signs.
I don't have dream signs though, I've written down all of my dreams since last month, The only re-occurrence I have had is going to school, which isn't reliable since I will be going back soon, and I only have a dream about school every week or so.

For me, I've been starting to notice that I sometimes don't have reoccurring objects, but reoccurring "ideas." Like, I'll just be in a place that I don't want to be, or someone is suggesting that I should do something that I don't want to do. Stuff like that. You just have to analyze your dreams and your journal thoroughly.
We need to go deeper...
Zinayzen, for a while I've wanted to ask something. I've been SO close to lucidity quite a few times, and I've been trying for the better part of summer. I'm still having trouble with it though, and after a week's vacation I'm entirely out of practice. I barely even remember my dreams again. (Of note I ran out of bananas to have before bed, which may have something to do with it.) Really, I think I'd be fine if I could get started, but therein lies the problem. I just can't begin lucid dreaming, and I have a feeling it's just how I'm going about it. So if you don't mind me asking, how did you get started yourself? You seem experienced to the point of doing it for several years, so whatever you did seems rather effective.
Sorry to shit up the thread, I'd just like an answer and the thread went fast again.
Right, I saw this thread yesterday night and decided that i'd post the dream I had. Enjoy reading some fucked up shit. Most of the places in the story are in my town, I could draw a map of all of this in MS Paint. It started off in an airsoft match on the green outside my house with a friend, then we saw someone on the enemy team and I shot, but I had ran out of ammo (in real life atm I don't have any bbs either and I'm going to a game tomorrow) then we were both hit and we went up the road. For some reason or another Vladmir Putin was there, we exchanged words and I said that I have always wanted to say hello, everyone from the airsoft game (most of the people at the place I go to are russian) crowded around and we all listened to him talk. Now I was in a room with old friends and people I haven't seen before, as if it was a group for some sort of youth club, one thing I notice in my dream is that there is a sofa and a girl lying face down on the sofa (asleep probably) in nothing but underwear. I think in my dream we all started laughing at this. The next part is fuzzy and I'm in a room with a roommate, one thing I notice is he's pretty badass, he was something like Zyzz but I don't think he was supposed to be. We talk somethings of which I can't remember. I went outside for some reason or another, on the way to a small supermarket, one of my best mates from primary school is there we say hello and talk, he starts joke fighting with me and I fight back, but because I can't throw a punch properly he laughs, and I say "Teach me" There is also a girl I like there. Now I'm in a shop, I snuck into the back room and left the door open so I wouldn't be seen going back, I got some sort of object and hid as I saw a staff going through the door and closing it, I thought I was screwed, but I opened the door and the man at the counter noticed but didn't seem to care and I got away. The man at the counter was someone who runs a chipper not too far from my estate, the second man I have no clue. I remember a hot girl being somewhere in this but not enough to make it out. Now I am going on the way up to my estate, I don't remember much of this, but the way up seems a lot more different, like it would be in a city, all I remember was there was a girl and something happened. This time I'm outside my friends house with my three mates who i'm going with to the game on Sunday, but none of us own the house, it's a different friends house. We are all dressed in our gear heading to the airsoft game at my estate (it's not there in real life, it's a place 30 minutes drive away) We are walking on one side of a chain linked fence, 2 guys and 1 girl catch up and one of the guys starts making fun, even though my AK has no magazine in it I point it at him and say I'm going to shoot and he's like calm down, I then notice my trigger and pistol grip is gone, I look on the ground behind me and there it is, he starts laughing and I point out to him that some of this is made of plastic, bad shit. We get to my estate and we have a break just inside, it's night time in this scenario but it's 10AM, I say to them that 11 we're going to it, one of them retardedly says "hurry not long left!" and starts running towards my house, I get him to stop and say that we have a fucking hour left. And so we walk, again parts of this estate are much bigger and more city like than they are in real life. As we walk by a house a guy makes fun of my friend, I can't remember the reason why but he's shorter than your average man, this might be why. We walk up the hill. I think this is where I wake up.

I really, really suggest you keep a dream journal. It sounds stupid but it works. Once you wake up, lay in bed for a minute just trying to remember anything you can. Then write that stuff down. it doesn't have to be words, even, pictures and diagrams work. It doesn't have to be full sentences, either, you're the only one reading it. The entire point is A: to train your brain to remember dreams, B: to notice a dream sign if you can, and C: because it helps identify patterns in dreams. other than that, it's just practice like I said. It takes a LONG time to get good at it, so don't get discouraged right away.
So a would it make my memory of my dream clearer and as well as remembering more of it?
So a would it make my memory of my dream clearer and as well as remembering more of it?
yeah, basically. like when you don't have any recall at all, you won't remember any of it. After a while, you'll remember bits and pieces, and after a while, you'll remember the whole thing. after a LONG while, you'll remember multiple dreams a night. but it'll never be as vivid as a lucid dream. i still don't always remember a dream i had that night. usually i have a flashback at like 4:30pm and then write it down later that night. it doesn't always come to you immediately.
Hooray! I had my first lucid dream. :keke: Thanks for the tips OP.
Hooray! I had my first lucid dream. :keke: Thanks for the tips OP.
I had like a 20 second lucid dream and I looked in a mirror because someone here said you shouldn't do that in a lucid dream. It was horrible :ohdear: I'm not being a dick here, but what I saw was a dead version of myself facing me. It was moving as I moved, but it was very surreal as the face looked older and mutated sort of. I stared right at it then woke up, thinking some freaky things. I suggest when you "know" that you dreaming, if you recognize where you are, find a mirror, because it is very freaky :v:
Hmm, I'm going to start a nice diary on pen and paper seeing that my battery is dead and I cant type enough on my phones memo app (80 or so chars wtf). It also allows me to draw images of it.
I had a lucid dream once. The best thing to do so you know you're dreaming is try to flick a light switch. Nothing will happen if you're in a dream. I pretty much just make my house crumble apart. I kept falling and I eventually started floating upwards towards the sky. then I woke up to take a shit.
I dont get my hypnagogic image. Its just random blobs that moves around then implodes. Doesn't seem to form any Landscape at all. Then everything dissapears. Later on it comes back. Once I swore I saw a pedobear, :v:
I had such a fucking cool lucid dream last night. It's so amazing to know that you're dreaming when the world around you looks like real life.
