Reading through the entire thread, I am now too scared to try to do a wild, also too scared to ask what my biggest fear it. I haven't been able to lucid dream, yet.
The days went slower. This was also the most detailed dream recall I've ever had. I'm gonna take a nap a little bit later.
Wow, that was an epic read. But was the thing IRL you promised your subconsious do do something cryptic or not? And what did that drawing look like? Maybe it has sth. to do with sth. But anyway, I had this dream a couple 'o weeks ago. It was in a town and it was thundering and at night, and me and a couple of other people were hiding for the thunder, but we were also searching for/fleeing from something. At one time, somebody (think it was a girl) said: "we need to go to the town hall!" Me: "What town hall?" Girl: "That town hall!" *cue a large, good-looking building popping up at the end of a road between two houses* Me: "Don't be rediculous, that thing is way too big for this town!" *Cue town hall shrinking, being made from white stone instead of bricks* Me: "that's better." What bugs me is the part about me shrinking the town hall, while not being lucid. What is this?
You still have control over your dreams whether you're lucid or aren't, after all it is your dream.
But was the thing IRL you promised your subconsious do do something cryptic or not?
No it was a simple action that I often thought of doing. [editline]10:56PM[/editline]
Is it possible that if you try to lucid dream too hard, you might not dream? I tried to lucid dream using MILD 5 days ago and for 3 straight nights I couldn't dream. I haven't a clue why but i'm very sure I didn't forget. When I finally decided to try toast and bananas, the dreams came back, but with a twist. I could control a little bit. My dream would make the setting, and I would do everything else, but I couldn't participate. So I made Justin Bieber clones and killed them with Neo wielding a Tech Shotgun thing. Is this partial lucidity or something?
No it isn't possible as you'll always dream unless you're like in your 70's or something. The definition of lucidity is the recognition or awareness that you are dreaming. What you had going on was something purposely set by your subconscious corresponding to some events in your life [editline]11:00PM[/editline] Well I'm gonna take a nap now. See what happens. I'll post here accordingly
My dreams are usually really strange with sci fi themes (my subconscious is a major nerd). I've lucid dreamed naturally for years but stress from RL has been killing my dream recall+ability. In high school I was really into lucid dreaming and had one almost every other day. I posted on dreaming forums but the communities were/became unwelcoming new-age babbling hippies. I wonder when you lucid dream what in your brain isn't taking a time out like normally. (Frontal cortex somewhere and some other patches? idk.) Really cool stuff.
I've seen that before. I highly recommend NOT changing your sleep cycle.
I did. I used to feel really tired at 1:00am. Now I don't get tired until about 6:00am.
inb4: "We need to go deeper"
Reposted because it was awesome then and it's awesome now.
So, after seeing the movie, I realized several things. One, that it will probably be difficult, and two, that it would take a long time to accomplish. But I did it, and here's how. First, I was able to train my subconscious to divide itself into six separate entities, mimicking the characters in Inception. Then it was simple to give each different personalities. I basically just anchored dream characters in different scenarios, which is harder than it sounds. The hardest part was training my brain to develop complex scenarios and scenery without allowing me to consciously know the layout. That is, it would generate a location and I would not know where things were (effectively allowing me to experience it in real time). I did train that, though, and after that it was fairly simple. I started the dream by assembling my team in a field. I had an Architect (looked like Ellen Page), a conman, a computer nerd, the regular guy along for the ride (he died), and a weapons expert for the hell of it. Once we were assembled, I fell asleep in the field and went down into another level (falling asleep in a dream generally leads to a dream within a dream. This is why you can wake up in a dream but still be dreaming.) In this next level, we were in a skyscraper that was in the middle of construction. Our goal was simply to get to the top of the building, where we would find the next clue. (Again, I had no knowledge of anything that was happening, other than where I needed to go. I didn't know the layout of the building, and I didn't know where any enemies would show up, and I didn't know what would happen next). I'll skip the details, but suffice to say we made it to the roof without any casualties or serious injuries. On the roof was simply a bed, just a metal frame and bare mattress (think Fallout 3). I fell asleep on that as well and dropped another layer. This time, we were in a cave of some kind. There was a very low ceiling, but the edges were so far apart that I couldn't see them. In the center of this cave was an old man wearing a suit. He presented me with a puzzle and told me if I solved it I could pass, but otherwise I would be killed. The computer geek tried to object but was promptly vaporized. One down. I looked down at his puzzle and realized it was a Rubiks cube with every side completed except one, which was impossible to solve. I thought about it for a long time, tried every possible combination, then gave up and just shot him in the face. As he fell, he melted and started to spread around the floor. All of a sudden, ten popped up in his place. Then a hundred, and then a thousand, and then we were completely surrounded by creepy old guys in suits. I wondered what to do and then my weapons expert suggested we pop a flare to see just how grim our chances were. As he lit the flare, I realized that it was a terrible idea. As soon as the fire ignited, hundreds of men jumped on him, punching and biting. He was reduced to a red puddle in seconds. My con-man tried to reason with them, and while he seemed to be making progress, it wasn't getting us anywhere. Then I remembered I was dreaming, which was a lucky break. I used dream logic to solve the impossible rubiks cube, and we were allowed to pass to the final level. Again, a bed appeared. I was, however, told to sacrifice two people in order to proceed. I chose the Con-Man and the ordinary guy, because i figured I'd probably need the Architect, dream or not. In the final level, it was just me and the Architect. We were together, standing on a patch of grass no more than 15' x 15'. Surrounding that patch of grass, the universe was falling apart. Planets were on fire, stars were exploding, the moon was crumbling. It was amazing. A bed appeared in the middle of the patch, but it wasn't like the others. It was furnished and looked extremely comfortable. I realized that there was only one thing I could do in that situation. All that existed in the world was me, an Architect (remember, looked like Ellen Page), an exploding universe, and a bed. You can guess what happened next. And then I woke up. (And woke up and woke up and woke up and then actually woke up.) tl;dr inception scenario + sex with ellen page The reason this is such a big deal is because, to my knowledge, nothing like this has been attempted before (with successful results). So I thought I'd share this with you guys. I'll probably get boxes, but whatever. It was cool.
Wow I have a story for you guys. Zinayzen how much of a personality does your subconscious have when you meet with it?
Wow I have a story for you guys. Zinayzen how much of a personality does your subconscious have when you meet with it?
As much as I want it to, really. Usually it's just as logical and robotic as Agent Smith, hence me always referring to him as Smith in our talks. I prefer it that way. I figure if I don't want emotions to get in the way of my decisions, probably shouldn't let them influence my chats. Besides, then it's easy to logically explain certain feelings. (Except love, but that's different).
I might as well start copying my log into the chat box. The thing is, though, that my subconscious' personality is something I would have never expected it to be or thought of it as being. I would have expected fatherly but best friendedly is strange as shit.
I still haven't been able to lucid... :frown:
Eh, you're lucky. I have a fear that when I get to the point of summoning my subconscious, my current bits of paranoia are correct and he's going to end up being a mix of the Joker and Tyler Durden constantly fucking with me and subverting my conscious goals. Hopefully it's my pessimism speaking. Luckily, I'm sure it is. I'll only know once I finally achieve lucidity.
Huge Dream
Amazing. So according to this, You can speak to your subconsciousness outside a dream, It just wont answer?
Reposted because it was awesome then and it's awesome now.
i want to do that
I'm gonna try this now. I've tried before but failed. However this guide seems more indepth. WILD here i come!
Oh yeah. I had my third lucid dream a few days ago. It was amazing. I will copy it to here.
Here is my dream. I got in bed, Not intending to have a dream. I fell asleep and somehow, I was in control without a reality check. I didnt clap and spin because I forgot. Now, The time was 10:00pm, I thought it was real and I had slept a whole day. I said "What the fuck! Why did I wake up at 10:00pm!" The scene changes. Im in the exact same place but it is 3:00pm. I grabbed my nose and tried breathing. I could breathe. I thought fuckyeah.gif. I then close my eyes and try and change the envoirnment. It didnt work. Suddenly im playing "Fallout 3 - voodoo edition" At least that is what I named it just now. It is fallout 3, Im in a yellow room and there is some motherfucking voodoo thing in front of me in game. Suddenly, I am outside, In my front yard to be exact, There is a truck and a girl walks out of it and towards me. My brain knew she was going to hurt me. I thought "I love you! I love you." And she slowly went back in the truck. Then im on the grass in my front yard and there is a desert eagle and maybe some other guns on the grass. I panick, I didnt want to get hurt so I thought "Im invincible if I get shot I dont die." They shoot me, And I say "I cant die, Im terminator." This is when I have a false awakening. I go to the kitchen and tell my mom about my dream. Half way through my explanation my brother shouts down the stairs. He says to my mom "It's because of that prick!" or something. I knew he was aiming it at me. The dream ends, I wake of for real and I think "FUCK YES!"
Obviously I improved the grammar because what I typed looked like this. "twrd angry so i sayi lov her and i think it den she go in car" :v: [editline]02:21AM[/editline]
I'm gonna try this now. I've tried before but failed. However this guide seems more indepth. WILD here i come!
Good luck man
Straight out of my dream journal about an hour ago after I finished writing it. I think it's good knowledge to know that I re read through my dream journal prior to going to taking the nap.
I finally had another lucid dream, it hadn't played out as I expected it to. It started off with me walking down a sidewalk to a red house. My phone was broken, because when I pulled it out the screen was flashing. I was frustrated. I got to the house and rang a door bell. A girl my age answered the door, she looked somewhat familiar. Most likely this girl went to my school, and I only noticed her passing by. The girl invited me in after giving me a kiss. At that point it was clear she was my girlfriend. I walked inside and sat down. The walls were all white, a TV in the middle and a few half couches. She started looking into the sky out the window. "Isn't blue a nice color" she said. I couldn't see her face, I was too concentrated on something else. I replied "Blue's my favorite color." She looked at me smiling "Blue can be good right?" I looked at her. "I'd imagine. Colors aren't bad." The girl laughed. She pulled out a box, skinny, looked like a watch could fit in there. She handed me the box. I pulled the box's compartment to find a pregnancy test. It was blue. I felt my heart sank at this point. The girl looked worried and she waited for my reaction. This is the part that amazes me. I was about to do the nose pinch to check if I was dreaming, but I stopped myself. Nothing else stopped me but myself. I just put my hand down and told her "We'll work through this together." She jumped and ran to me and gave me a big hug followed by a long kiss. It felt nice. She grabbed my hand an walked me outside. There she told me to look into the sky. It looked normal, clouds flying, color was all right. When I turned back to see her she disappeared. I was really confused. I looked around again and suddenly this random guy pops up. He looks at me and says "I'm proud of what you did." Thinking he was referring to the girl I responded "She's a nice girl and I like her, I see no reason to over react." He walked up to me and put his hand on my shoulder. "Not that." he said. I paniced, I thought he was going to do something to me. He put his other hand on my shoulder and told me, looking me straight into the eyes "You're dreaming." I paniced more than before. I tried rubbing my hands together to make sure I wasn't going to fall out of the dream. "Don't worry, you won't wake up" the man said. "hold on" he said again. He lifted my chin and stared me in the eyes. The man changed through many people. One my younger self, the pale girl my mother, father, brother, friends. Finally, the man turned into Ellen Page. "You seem to have the best reaction when I'm Ellen Page, so we'll keep it like that." she said smiling at me. "Are you my-" cut off by her words "Yes, and I am very proud that you allowed me to see your reaction to something like a pregnancy." I looked around to notice the scenery changing. It was now a theatre. Like an opra type stage or something. "I don't remember the last time we had a conversation." I said to her. "We have one everyday, and I know you remember those" she gestured a pen writing "because you write them in your dream journal, i know you read through it before you went to sleep." I acknowledged. "Why did you tell me I was dreaming, I thought you didn't want me to be here, lucidly?" She shook her head. "That's not what I said. I said I don't want you messing around a lot with what I've set up to see how you react to things and help you. You've shown me self control though, because you could have done that reality check and figure out if you were dreaming or not and generally not care for the girl." She picked up a glass and threw it off the balcony into the empty chairs below. "Besides, I'm always talking to you in your dreams, who do you think acts a key role in your dreams most of the time?" I looked at the glass expecting it to break. It didn't. "Fantastic acting by the girl by the way, only saying like 4 words a sentence." I said joking. She giggled "Well you're the one who expects her to talk to you that way when it happens, maybe you're just a terrible actor then?" She gave me a punch to the arm. "This is very awkward I would have never expected you to act like this." I said looking away. "Well I like to get comfortable if that's okay with you." she said looking at the empty stage. "But you have a fully developed personality and you're suppose to be 'the all knowing'" I air quoted when I said that. "I mean when I see people talking to their subconscious on the internet they say it's like talking to your father, or so I read it." She was puzzled. "I really don't know how to answer that." she grabbed a pen and paper and drew a symbol, it looked like this -drawing- "This is the answer, but I don't know how to describe it to you in words." she folded to paper into a plane and tossed it off the balcony. The plane never stopped flying it just flew around. At one point I stared at it and forced it into directions. "Do you remember what I told you a few weeks ago?" she asked. I didn't. (outside note : a few weeks ago I had a dream I was in a thunder storm in the basement of my house) "Let me remind you." The landscape shifted and we were now in a white room. Slowly the world began to construct itself and I was back in an old dream of mine. It was the one with a tornado or something around my house and I was in the basement with my family. "Right there" she pointed to a friend of mine. "That was me." She walked us toward the people. Nobody there realized we were standing. We were ghosts looking at them. "You may not have realized it, I don't think you remembered to right down this part." the dream continued playing like a movie, and then everything became silent and the only people talking was my friend. He said "You have to trust me when I do things sometimes." the words were very distorted but that's what I understood. "You see now that I'd happily invite you here, when I've finished doing my 'research' so to speak. I did now and I'd do it again." The memory stopped and we were now on a lighthouse. The cliff below was very familiar. I personally believe it was the one in my WLD (Week long dream) but I will never know for sure as we were very far. "There's no reason to interupt your sleep time to do something I can do for you. Sure it won't be often but as you can see I can make it last?" I felt it was time to go at this point. "One last thing before I go" I said. "How much power do you really have over my dreams?" She looked at me. Everything started distorting when she started talking. I began to fade, hands, arms. "Only as much as you can comprehend, friend." I stopped and opened my eyes wide to overload myself and wake myself up. It worked. I was now and am in my bed, awake.
I'm gonna draw up the sign that it drew after I get back from an event at my hotel. Maybe you guys could give a different view on it. I don't know whether to keep trying or just stop trying to induce lucidity as often as I do or all together at this point.
How are you all getting lucid dreams so frequently? I've tryed simply laying perfectly still and have gone into sleep paralysis a couple times but never quite got to lucid, I've tried DIELD method with my Ipod waking me up at 3 and falling back asleep, but it does not work.. :frown:
Amazing. So according to this, You can speak to your subconsciousness outside a dream, It just wont answer?
Not exactly. It listens to what I think as I'm processing it through my brain. It also listens to what I say because obviously your brain is telling you to say those things. I've been trying for the last 4 weeks; I've been keeping a dream journal for that entire length of time. I can remember every single one of my dreams each night, but I can't lucid dream at all. I've tried the WILD (WLD? Can't remember) method every single night. I would go to bed, and just close my eyes and lay down. Hours would go past, and I would just see some colors; no funky sleep paralysis, no tingling sensation. Literally, I would do that for hours. I also reality check every hour in real life, but I don't do it in my dream. Basically, what I am trying to say is that I am incredibly disappointed.
solid_jake's dreams sound like something that would happen in a fantasy novel. Awesome stuff I only dreamed of happening to me when I was 12. :frown:
I want to lucid dream so much, I really need to hear what my subconscious has to say. [editline]09:57PM[/editline] What if I set my iPod at 2am or something (when I'm already sleeping for about 2 hours) to play something along the lines of "You're dreaming", to let me know I'm sleeping? or if I set it to Je ne regrette rien to wake up just to fall asleep again?
i think ive done a lucid dream before i was drinking pickle juice with the predator and he stabbed me with a bananna and i woke up crying
That's not a lucid dream. A lucid dream is that you are aware that you were dreaming.
The first time I had a lucid dream I made a worldwide dance party. Needless to say, 'twas quite a night.

I've been doing reality checks since I was eight years old. Little did I know, it would come to some use someday.
I think I may listen to my subconscious and do it everyone once in a while as opposed to often. Hopefully she or it doesn't disappoint me Wow I am reposting like a motherfucker
Make your dream journal into a book. Do it.
Oh please, who would want to read a book of someone elses dreams
