if the lyrics is the only thing that expresses any kind of emotion in a song it isn't really worth listening to, you'd be better off just reading the lyrics instead :v:

To be a good listener of music, I reckon you have to make up in your head how you should be listening to it.

For example, Folk stuff mostly requires strong lyrical content, therefore you would need to understand what is conveyed through the lyrics for better effect.

Metal in general tends to be a "thrilling" genre for me than anything else. Kind of a recharge when you hear it.

It's the becoming accustomed to how you should listen to it thats the hard part.

Problem is sometimes the lyrics and the feel clash. Especially with less experienced bands. They get the guitarwork all right, the vocal tone fits, but the lyrics ultimately degrade the feel.

I'm trying to play a little away from What's Going On now. It probably is his all round masterpiece in terms of commercially judging it, but is it his most soulful, personal, emotional and expressive album?
