some rap about killing/destroying/raping/mutilating
odd future
People are always complaining about power metal being cheesy, rap being about bitches/drugs/money, death metal being about killing/destroying/raping/mutilating and all that
I personally like those kinds of aspects of every genre, I think it's hilarious and very fun to listen to
People take things too seriously

Half the death metal bands I have don't even have songs about killing and rape and all that jazz. I swear people only think that death metal is about that because of Cannibal Corpse.
And necrophagist, Viraemia, Guttural Secrete etc. etc.
Blame all the brutal death bands.

What's wrong with Necrophagist :colbert:
Also the biggest one to blame is Death.
Awesome as they were, come on...just look at the album/song titles.
Nothings wrong with necrophagist, just saying with songs like mutilate the stillborn they sometimes fit the br00tal cookie monster band bracket.

Sounds like a fun experience for the whole family to me :v:
Oh it totally is. My parents start killing pigs when I put on Necrophagist.
no opinions
i don't think it's about opinions, but about the guy not knowing the greats and then assuming that lil' wayne is the undisputed best.
also Bieber is objectively a horrible drummer. he can't drum for shit and still acts like he can.
I wish people would stop talking about Bieber.
All he does is induce troll fests, with comments like, THE PEOPLE WHO HATE HIM ARE JEALOUS.
i'm not trying to start a flamewar about it or something, but i can't stand the people calling him a good drummer, or even a decent one.

To be fair it was only their first album and demos
Half the death metal bands I have don't even have songs about killing and rape and all that jazz. I swear people only think that death metal is about that because of Cannibal Corpse.
I know that not all death metal bands write songs about killing and rape
What I'm really saying is I don't really get why people will so often use "death metal is just about fucking corpses and burning churches" as a reason why death metal is bad or why any genre is bad because it's only about xing x and doing x to x. I mean, firstly, what the lyrics are about is hardly a way to judge the music, but I don't understand why people always view lyrics that actually are about bathing in fermented baby blood is such a terrible thing
I mean, hell, lots of classic rock is about bitches, money, and drugs, and people will love it. The same people will then turn around and talk about how rap is a load of shit and just black people shouting about making drug deals and swimming in pools of money and I lost my train of thought and no longer know where the hell I'm going with this so I'll stop now
I don't think generalising any genre should be acceptable. I have grown out of stereotyping genres, it's just dull.
aren't genres basically there for generalising, generally being able to describe what you like or don't.

Not for me it ain't. I'm not stereotypical :smug:

And morons wishing for his death.
"You gotta respect rebecca black"
Can I respect her with my fist in her mouth?

i'm sorry but that makes absolutely no sense.
i'm sorry but that makes absolutely no sense.
If I were stereotypical, it would be easier for me to latch onto a genre of music. It's foolishness because that is not what I'm about. For example, Dream Pop is something people would be surprised for me to listen to. The people who make the music would fit the stereotype that it can create.
Get the drift?

i usually try to ignore subsub genres as much, generalise them, makes it easier to distinguish music, because that's kind of the point with genres isn't it. because at some point every band has his own kind of genre, especially the electronic guys are great at this, techno southern hip pop.

Each artist having a unique style is a given, but it's becoming more socially awkward to talk openly about music.
I talk to a few black guys about rnb and hip hop, then I'm overheard by people I usually talk to about metal... Looks of confusion is what I get.

You can, it's the way she's made a complete tit of the music industry.

Too old

of course they have their unique style, but thats besides a genre,
and i don't exactly know what your second point has to do with it, but i heartily agree with it nonetheless.
