I think the hippy has an interesting point. Respect his idiology before you disregard his comments.

Listening to music that's like a ton of other bands is pretty boring. Something new is always interesting and appeal lasts longer than of some generic band.

I'm kind of a hippy, I used to listen to a ton of music that was popular. Now I try to go beyond and listen to things that are listened to by not as many people. I try not to let them overcome me as a person otherwise I would be seen as weird. I accept I'm weird for doing that, but I feel fulfilled. I have much respect for each aspect of those sectors who listen to certain music. Therefore arguing with them about other music is what I avoid. It's demoralising... Let me correct myself, the kid WANTS to be a hippy. In reality he's a kid with a shitton of emotional problems. He is pretty much this "nonconformist" generation of emo. Anything that is critically acclaimed isn't good for him. tldr; hipster.
