Let's look into Pink Floyd for example. Their most musically complex stuff is not popular as compared to their simplest work. Sometimes people see musicians pour their heart out through their instruments, that is why it happens. Nowadays people have gotten a bit dull so they would rather hear a good "beat" rather than a force of artistry. :smug:
