Go completely crazy on the Autobahn.
And then stop once you see the gas price
dont go to Amsterdam its a tourist trap. visit one of our other big cities that is not an open sewage system instead.
Why don't you visit Sweden? It's really nice here during the summer if it's not raining! Like Derp Y. Mail said.
You will be dissapointed in Marijampolė, there's nothing to see. Only cities worth seeing in Lithuania is Vilnius (Our capital, ~700 years of history), Kaunas(Old capital), Trakai (try kibinai while you are there, our karaim national food) and Memel (Klaipėda). You can learn more about here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hvq_otYquOU Also, I'm traveling around Europe with friends in June too, I'm going to Visit Poland, Germany, Switzerland, Czech republic. It will be 5 days trip. Any recommendations? I know Germany pretty well since I'm partly German too, but Czech and Switzerland is really a mystery for me.
staying there with a friend so we'll probably visit interesting sites in the area, since he knows it well
this is all the information you need. god speed good sir.
Prostitution is legal in Sweden though, you just can't buy :v:
Drive ? are you mad ?
dont go to Amsterdam its a tourist trap. visit one of our other big cities that is not an open sewage system instead.
Hey, Amsterdam is a pretty nice city. I went there a couple of weeks ago and had a great time without visiting a single coffee shop.
Hey folks. I'm going on a trip across western Europe this summer, and as someone who has never left the states, I'm stoked as fuck. That said, we have a rough outline for the trip (below), but I could use some suggestions. Reccomendations for interesting things to see and do, places to eat, general do's and don'ts, anything is appreciated. Day 1-4 London (Already have a London pass to do the main attractions, as well as tickets to see Spamalot one night.) Day 5 Train to Calais, pick up car, Visit Atlantic Wall Museum(?) Drive to Bayeux Day 6 Normandy Day 7 Drive to Luxembourg Day 8 Diekirch, Luxembourg -Battle of the Bulge Museum Bastogne, Belgium Day 9 Drive to Remagen Drive along Rhine - Castles? Drive to Munster Day 10 Munster Germany - Panzer Museum Drive to Amsterdam Day 11 Amsterdam Day 12 Drive back to Calais, turn in car - train to London, probably have to spend the night and leave next morning So that's the rough outline with a few specifics in there. I'm totally open to any other suggestions.
I have been to almost every single place on your list, and I say it's a great tour that you have put together of north-western Europe. I don't think you can manage to see much more than you have already planned in 12 days, as there are many museums around that area. I advise you to eat something local everywhere you go, so you really get a proper idea of the local cuisine. (so don't just order burgers, or you will be the American turist stereotype.)
Whatever you do don't go to Poland. We don't go to there, anymore. (I myself will have to drive through there to get to Lithuania, where I will be spending two weeks, and I am already starting severe mental and physical training to survive the passing through Poland). [editline]17th April 2013[/editline] On behalf of Prague (CZ) - I live here all my life so I obviously can't distinguish if it's "interesting". I guess it has a bit of historic appeal, but mainly if you stick to the historic centre, don't expect to see a lot of "Czech" stuff. The tourist areas are SWAMPED with tourists, mostly German and Russian, and most of what you see aside of the actual landmarks is cheap novelty bullshit shops that have nothing to do with the country at all. You don't have to worry much about criminal dangers, here, except for pickpocketing. It's quite rare for somebody to get mugged or beaten up, but pickpocketing happens - you just have to be careful about your stuff and you will be pretty safe. [editline]17th April 2013[/editline] If you want to have a slight idea about what the cityline looks like, check that 18 gigapixel panorama that guy did, few years back. It obviously won't give you much of the real feel, but it might be interesting for some.
Only thing I have to say is that there's more to Amsterdam than just the red light district and legal drugs.
Only thing I have to say is that there's more to Amsterdam than just the red light district and legal drugs.
For example, the Sex Museum. Isn't this more entertaining than getting high:
Only thing I have to say is that there's more to Amsterdam than just the red light district and legal drugs.
there's also wooden shoes, right?
there's also wooden shoes, right?
yes, in The Netherlands we all go to our job wearing this
there's also wooden shoes, right?
That's like saying Germans wear lederhosen all the time.

The tourists that swamp are Spaniards, Chinese and japs.
Last year I did a tour of Bavaria and its one of the best places I've been. Bamberg was a big hitter for me as it has a huge cathedral with a dead pope in it and an old palace across the road full of art. The town is full of micro breweries and the smoked beer is killer. The place has a very chilled out vibe and the food is excellent. Bamberg is one of the few really old German towns that the allies didn't damage. The Bavarian royal castles are excellent and Munich is a great party city with plenty to do in the day. I also spent 3 days in the Bavarian alps so I could climb the Zugspitze which is Germany's highest. If you can stomach the hike the trek is breathtaking but if you want an easy ride you can cable car up for 50 euros. Germany is amazing. Oh yes, Brugges in Belgium is excellent too.
brugges is indeed amazing.
I suggest you visit Switzerland or Austria or northern Italy very idyllic landscapes. I once did a roadtrip with a couple of friends from Berlin to Torino in Italy. We had so much fun.
Thanks for the tips guys! Definitely looking at Brugges now. Still looking for some stuff to do in Amsterdam, not going to fuck prostitutes and smoke a bunch of pot with my dad.

Bruges is like a fucking fairytale town

The greenhosue and bulldog are tourist friendly , but also kinda expensive. There are also some nice theathers and squares:Dam, Rembrantsplein and Leidseplein are nice. The zoo artis is also cool. [editline]24th April 2013[/editline] Also go to Brugges. Its really nice. Or it bigger brother which is only an hour away Gent, (Its more grand but less pretty).
If you're going to Neuschwanstein Castle, grab my glove for me. Lost that fucker when I was there a few years back.
don't go to eastern europe if you're driving. you won't come back.
Lesser Europe is a horrible place
I'll be in Scotland and England during the months of September and October. What are some good coach services? I've used MegaBus in the states and liked it and heard it was pretty good in the UK.
