I skipped the jntermission on my first read through too
I didn't want to jump so jarringly away from John and co because I was legit enjoying myself with thir little adventure
but I went back and read it soon as I caught up

I started reading Homestuck with the intermission. Then I read acts 1, 2, and 3. Then I read that shit again because it is the best.
Everything else is scrub shit.
Itachi is still cool.
It's not that far-fetched that you'd skip the intermission on your first read-through.
I mean it's not like you know how fucking awesome it is before you actually read it, and the jarring transition away from the main storyline and it's likable characters puts some people off.
I am not one of those people and I read the intermission on my first time through but it's not really that terrible not reading it on the first go, even if it incredibly relevant to the storyline.
