Coulda been ages since then, remember time doesn't go straight in the furthest ring and im pretty sure that goes for dream bubbles too. It's possible he changed and its possible hes just Hussie who knows, I'm kinda leaning more towards Hussie. But I mean, he began a spineless fuck, but on the meteor he had progressed fast that a bit, at least to the point where he fearlessly attacked Vriska. So, it's totally possible he's grown a pair.

I'm still annoyed that Hussie decided to say that the kids are A-racial and defend that statement. The first part isn't about what people draw, but about about a poor decision of that caused a bunch of 'social progressives' to go out and criticize the living shit out of people who see the kids as white because of word of series creator as opposed to what is depicted in canon. people saying that depicting the kids as white is racist are dumb yeah but i think the real meat of the problem that most people have is when people try to say that all of the human characters definitively can't be anything but white, because it's really hard to prove that without resorting to a cultural perception of how a certain race should look and act. sure you have shit like "pink monkeys" but even that can be argued against in a variety of ways.
the ultimate conclusion is who cares. more and more i see alternative racial art of the humans being created, accepted, and celebrated and that's really a wonderful thing that people of many different racial backgrounds can identify so heavily with these characters. you can say hussie's decision was dumb but i'd say it's working pretty well.

But that's the thing, there is a ton of evidence for them being white in canon. White as a ghost, pink moneys, and the blonde thing are all evidence, and pretty solid evidence at that.
I don't have anything against people depicting headcanons, do it all you want, I don't really care and it makes people happy, which is nice, but you didn't need word of god to picture them that way. I just don't see the need to connect racially with the kids, probably since I'm multi/aracial, the kids races just don't matter in the grand scheme of things and people connect with the characters regardless. The tradeoff to that is that it directly contradicts what's in the comic itself and has caused massive shitstorms between the fans who call each other idiots all day because one side has canon in the comic and the other has word of god. It kinda hits home when I see idiots throwing around the racism card when people aren't basing their ideas on race related issues at all, but instead what they've read in the comic. It really just feels like backpedaling by Hussie due to the criticism of not having a diverse cast in the comic, which at one time was this big stupid hot button issue.
It's not so much the race I disagree with, or even that Hussie changed his mind, it's the fact that fans throw around 'racism' like a fucking baseball and peg anyone who brings up evidence to the contrary of their headcanon.

I dunno, I've had the headcannon of the Striders being Albino, the Lalondes being French, Jane/John being your average white kids, Jade being a Pacific Island and Jake being, well, English/British.
