ahh man thats so nice. i really like orchestral stuff like that. here's what he's said so far about the album:
• It will be roughly as long as One Year Older, possibly longer
• [His] instrumental palette of choice is the orchestra, no electronic trickery for the most part
• There is a large amount of continuity between tracks; a handful of themes weave their way throughout the entire album
• The music tells a story
• None of this album sounds like any Homestuck music [he has] released so far, to the point where [he thinks] some people may be surprised [he] made it
• here are no remixes of Homestuck themes outside of a few quotations and about a minute of one track devoted to Sarabande
• Most importantly, the Squiddles theme is hidden somewhere very sneakily

I'm sure it will be good, but I really want to see something that isn't more goddamn piano albums.

Before I sound like an asshole, which I'm sure I already do, the music is still great, I'd just like to hear some variety in the instruments used and a change in the genre that these albums are going for. I'm sure I'm phrasing this badly.

i will never go to a homestuck convention because every jade cosplay looks like my ex (glasses and all) and i know my ex likes to cosplay (but i don't know if she likes homestuck).

A lot of the new albums lack the certain charm the older ones had for me.
In an attempt to make everything sound more grandiose, the songs are starting to blend together. I like to call this Hans Zimmer syndrome. There's no doubt Hans makes amazing music. But it all sorta "blends together". They're also reusing melodies and themes from other songs, whereas older tunes were completely new. Remakes or homages can be great, but the albums come out so frequently that they get stale a whole lot faster.
Black is one of my favorite songs. It's simple, it was fresh, and it culminated in the rise of a villain we had been watching for quite some time (and who would also be [B]the[/B] villain for quite a bit more). Davesprite is an example of a more recent song that I really like. They took classic Homestuck melodies, redid them and composed them in the classic retro style Homestuck had been using forever.
Don't get me wrong, I love the music team. They're really good at what they do. The orchestra stuff just gets stale after awhile. Like the songs are trying to be grander than the content they're made for?

I kind of agree with this. The thing is, Rosetti stated very clearly that [B]there be very, very little use of melodies and quotations from other Homestuck songs[/B]. This will hopefully keep it fresh. From what I gather from the preview, it's going to be a very unique album.
Now, this could be my major hard-on for orchestral music talking, but I think the orchestral albums and songs fit quite well. For example, a taste for adventure was very awesome and fitting for the 2nd part of [S] Jane: Enter. The songs have their place in the comic. Don't get me wrong, I also love the old, way more electronic-style songs. But its nice to have a mixture of both.
