Without the pause between changing comic pages it kind of loses some of it's comedic timing.
I know the image is old as hell and has been posted here before, but I love the fact that this makes perfect sense in Homestuck.

that's the whole point that it is a homestuck image but literally nobody but homestuck peeps would recognize it as such
and even then from the amount of paying attention to the story that most homestuck fans do I don't think a lot of them would get the whole joke because it was from a part of the story where Dirk wasn't aping after Jake's dick

Nope, Hussie said before that update in his Reddit AMA that the Rage symbol was designed a specifically after Violent J's make-up.
