It's just the nature of mspa to increase intensity even while moving down.
Falling in a more hardboiled manner so to speak
act 7 will focus on introducing all 48 players of the squiddles session and it will last 5 years

No, we didn't see any imps until after John had entered the medium. And even then, we only saw their eyes in a window until John started ignoring them

Also given the paradoxial nature of the game it could be that they were imps before the prototyping simply because the game knew it was going to be prototyped as it was

Another reason we didn't see much of the session could be blamed on Roxy. Her class (Rogue) takes her element (void) and applies it to those around her. Resulting in quite a few things about the session being obscured (An effect of void) to us, the readers.
I guess you could say that act was over in a flash
