Actually for me it makes it even more badass/terrifying(In an "I'm reading this story and holy shit" kind of way) that Caliborn turns into fucking THAT. first of all a villain being imposing doesn't inherently make him/her a good villain (look at all the trash ANCIENT EVIL HAS AWOKEN over the years)
second of all he IS imposing, he can erase characters permanently from the story (the only one who can do that), he just now has more personality to him than "ooga booga monster" and a character that physically can't grow up and mature is probably the best antagonist for a story about growing up and maturing
is he the best villain in HS?? no that would be Scratch but LE still comes really close
