The youtube copyright system is so messed up. It's, for the most part, automated, and also for the most part, unenforced. However, I think the main problem is how blown out of proportion the whole issue is. I can understand the need to defend copyright when things are published for profit or otherwise negatively impact the market for the item in question. However, most youtube users aren't publishing for profit, nor are their works negatively impacting the market for whatever media is used. There are some exceptions, and in those cases I'm on the copyright holder's side. I just don't agree that my entire video should be muted because I used 30 seconds of a dragonforce song at the end of a TF2 machinima I've made no profit from.

YouTube removed one of my Let's Play videos for some reason, so I just filed a complaint or whatever and it was back, no questions asked.
