this is pointless as fuck
Was really hoping they'd have the TF2 remix of Seven Nations Army like in the original trailer I so wanted to hear a full version of that. Besides all that it was awesome! my only real complain (once again music) the music felt a bit lack luster near the end when [sp]the heavy stood infront of the train and the medic ubered him[/sp] the music kind of dipped down and was far less bombastic than what i think it should have been. other then that it was fucking awesome, going to get one of those posters too.
This is where they got the majority of it, though it doesn't contain some elements.
The opinions here are completely different from the ones on the TF2 section thread.
The opinions here are completely different from the ones on the TF2 section thread.
That's because they overhyped the fuck out of it and expected something way better than what was actually possible.
That's because they overhyped the fuck out of it and expected something way better than what was actually possible.
Too be honest, everyones angry the fact a load of hats didnt get in, or the fact a map which was promised didn't get in, and it's all valves fault (from what i've gathered).
I'm glad they didn't attempt voice acting, or splicing together TF2 voice clips. Nothing worse than seeing a good SFM video with pre-pubecent voiceactors pretending to be TF2 characters :v:
ANYTHING is better than amateur voice acting, for one I'm actually glad there's just none. Though it seems pretty pointless to just drop the opportunity of having the actors avaliable for you like that. Why the hell would you do that? Taking the silent route to seem quirky or artsy is getting old.
I saw Ed Harrison and Leri Greer named in the credits. Not surprised this was such high quality.
Pretty cool stuff Custom assets were great music was great The sound mixing or lack thereof really deteriorates from it. The animation, while you can tell they put a shitload of work into it, looked like it needed to be refined a bit more, but it's definitely better than like 90% of everything else made in SFM. It's really really nice to see a big SFM project like this with high ambition. I love seeing very ambitious fan-made things get done. Gives other's inspiration and hope for higher standards.
That's because they overhyped the fuck out of it and expected something way better than what was actually possible.
Not really, we were basically promised two things: Some cosmetics and a new map. Nobody expected any more than that. Then Valve removed the only part of the update anyone cared about, the map. The community team working on the map worked really hard over it, and at the last minute Valve told them "Yeah fuck off we can't be arsed" and cut it, throwing away all their work and leaving the update lackluster. The other thing that people are pissed about is that Valve has tried to move the spotlight away from the EotL team's work, and is instead trying to push their dumb $5 pay-to-win minigame where you collect rubber ducks from corpses. Not that the minigame actually gives any items or real entertainment value, they basically just think we're all a bunch of morons who'll pay for anything if it means we get to watch a meaningless experience bar go up. I get that a company's goal is to make money, but if they could maybe show that they respect their customers just a tiny bit that would be nice. Everybody loves the short, don't get me wrong, it's just that Valve really fucking dropped the ball on the update side of things, cutting out the best parts of the update that the community EotL team produced, and replacing it with their own money-grubbing bullshit.
It's okay that there wasn't actual voice acting, but there were so many instances where I expected the characters to make some sort of sound that could have easily been taken from the game. Overall, it's still gorgeous.
When the Heavy turns back to the Medic at the end, before playing chess, I expected him to just use the stock sound "THANK YOU, DOCTOR!"
The opinions here are completely different from the ones on the TF2 section thread.
No? Everybody at the TF2 section loves the video. People are pissed about the update being just some money grab duck shit, and some hats.
No read the post many were either overhyped & disappointed or giving shit to the movie because of the update being shit.
Link to the original trailer music. Don't know how to embed soundcloud, sorry :/
remove s from https and use tags.
the animation is smooth but nothing happens at all. they send a train with explosives. the mercenaries looks at the train as it goes and then it stops and BANG congrats on wasting time
Anyone got a pdf of the poster for this short?
the animation is smooth but nothing happens at all. they send a train with explosives. the mercenaries looks at the train as it goes and then it stops and BANG congrats on wasting time
To be honest, i expected that those bombs were nukes, not just the standard explosion from tf2. Because of all that tension building up through the whole video.....
They look like payloads from, well, Payload maps
this is pointless as fuck

the animation is smooth but nothing happens at all. they send a train with explosives. the mercenaries looks at the train as it goes and then it stops and BANG congrats on wasting time
This is the dumbest thing I've heard all day
The plot was basically a dramatised match of Payload, but what's the problem with that?
the animation is smooth but nothing happens at all. they send a train with explosives. the mercenaries looks at the train as it goes and then it stops and BANG congrats on wasting time
Why bother doing anything?
this is pointless as fuck
Oh okay.
congrats on wasting time
