Yeah it sounds like a lot of these people are just agreeing with this girl cause they don't like going to school
Everyone likes school, they just hate the way they teach you and look down on you. School needs to be fun, but it's usually droning on and on about the same damn thing you learned last year. They need to make it exciting and exhilarating, they need to show how you would apply it in the real world instead of writing it on a piece of paper. Hell, you could learn about the all the things in school on the damn internet and you could probably finish it faster!
My reaction. So much truth.
This bitch knows what's up. Specifically why I dropped out of High School. Now I am in Ford ASSET so I don't have to slave through this kind of crap. All I do is what I need to know, no useless shit.
This girl will go very far. incredible...
She speaks truth. These are facts that apply to all public schooling systems in first world countries I know of. The only sad part is that this realisation will, like realisations tend to do, not change anything. Speaking it out in front of an audience on a special ecation is quite a task, but people will sleep over it and then come to the conclusion that this is how things go. We all know it, we all accept it. We are used to accepting these kinds of things. We live in an age where industrialisation has forged huge concerns with enough money and economic influence to overcome even our gouvernments. We stand before barriers that we cannot and will not break. We will not break them because we accept everything, because we are incouraged to distract ourselves. Thinks for yourdelf how many hours you spent discussing and researching video games, music, pop culture, movies, how many arguments you had about consoles, operating systems, religion, guns, fiction. now compare that how much time you spent REALLY looking deeply into our economy, society and gouvernment. we are given the impression of freedom by handing us an insane amount of distraction from our broken system. we will only talk, discuss or fight but never change anything. we won't do anything because we hornestly don't really care. we can only wait until the whole thing with all its flaws collapses and hope something better will come after it. Wow, this realisation makes me want to hang myself everytime, I must go do stupid pointless shit.
I honestly don't know how you all agree with this. She talks about brainwashing and "corporate America dumbing down its youth to a sub standard". She pretty much spit out rebellious jargon against schooling and whatnot, probably because she's angry that she's the only one that got high grades, yet most others passed as well. She says that people who doodle in class will become artists. Every day I see people in class doodling, yet they're not any sort of artistical excellence. Some others may write poems or lyrics, but again a lot of the people I see do it purely out of teen angst, and even if there's a few that actually put effort into it, the chances of them being able to create a stable career and provide for a family off of music alone is slim. Her saying that school conforms you to a plain standard is just annoying. High school has multiple division of english, math, science, etc. and electives to teach kids based on what THEY want to learn. If someone doesn't give a shit about learning, then that's there problem. Let them squander away their chance at actually being able to do something useful in their life and having a stable lifestyle. And sports isn't an easy backdoor exit as most people claim it to be. Out of all the people in the country that try to get a position in a sports team, only a few actually make it out. It's so hysterical that she, of all people, would give such a ludicrous speech like that. She has an opportunity to aspire towards any path she wants in life, instead she just sits there and whine and complain about the school system that brought her to her high seat in the first place.

I think the education system in England is good, but I think there should be more room for people who can show they are dedicated or skilled in a subject area.
You are all wanting something out of school that it was never meant to give and there's no way it can.

It annoys me to no end that some schools/teachers don't really put much effort into teaching certain fields. Even if they say that "it's saved for college", they should at least give you some sort of introductory course, just so you're completely satisfied with your decision. Luckily, my school doesn't do this, and has a strong engineering (and a few small computer) department.
Really well said
public schooling is a joke
It's better then teaching ourselves?
She definetely requires more experience with regards to her public speaking. The way she spoke annoyed me to the Nth degree.

The established schooling system exists today almost exclusively as a remnant of the last few centuries where the sole purpose of school was exactly that. It's not a conspiracy, it's the sad truth.
I bet people would have pulled her off stage if she wasn't valedictorian. She seems like a very intelligent girl, and very enlightened as well. Too bad her words will fall on deaf ears. More power to her.
Also I kind of feel like you guys agree with her just because you don't like school.
It's possible that they don't like school for the very same reasons that she brought up in that video. It's kind of something that we can all agree on, regardless of how well we do in school.
