This reminds me of when I was studying abroad in Tokyo last summer, eating in a Chinese restaurant (go figure). I was with a dorm mate of mine, a huge 5'8 Nigerian man who stood out way more than I did but was a really soft-spoken dude. Suddenly a troupe of what looks like a combination of Americans and Canadians (we could tell from the outrageous amounts of flags stuck to all of them) marches in, shouts, barely uses Japanese to the waiters, demands English menus (in English, of course) and leaves 20-30 minutes later with only half of their food eaten, something that's kinda a no no in restaurants there.
I thought not finishing your meal was considered polite in that part of the world, probably mistaking with another country.
Should be posted in the "This Idiot Deserved It" thread, needs to be revived

No, it's actually considered an insult because it's assumed you're saying the food isn't good enough.

Yeah I'm probably mixing up with another part of Asia
Was he on some sort of drug? Jesus christ, what has our world come to?
Literally every single american stereotype (other than obesity) put into a single person

"tell her to keep her hands off me"
literally right after slapping her on the ass

In Japan, when I eat my homestay families meals, I eat everything, to the last grain of rice.

Ahh yes Japanese culture.
Where slurping your soup is the correct way to do things.
It seriously makes me sad when selfish pricks like this go out into the world and act like they deserve everything because "freedums", leaving a bad imprint in the minds of people they come across and thus fueling the fire to call Americans selfish. I wish we could just do away with boundaries and nationalities when it comes to narcissism and just get down to the niddy-griddy and recognize when there is some one who is just a general prick, and not look at them as a reflection of their country or anyone elses country.
Then again, I'm a paranoid motherfucker. I don't know how people think. I've also never left the country, and I've always wanted to. So seeing people abuse such a great gift like this pisses me off.
if getting your ass slapped like that is being molested
then i could've had a bunch of lawsuits filed

Seeing this, and from the looks on the other people in the restaurant, me and my friend ate literally all of our food, barely spoke a word, and then tipped the waiter (tipping is generally not expected in Japan). My friend, braver than I was, mumbled a brief "sorry" before we left.
And that was the first time both my and my friend truly felt like minorities in another country. Bonding moment ahoy!
they should align to the country they are in, not have the country they are in align to them
seriously, fuck those guys

Not exactly..
But in the case of wine for example, leaving a little bit of wine in the bottom of your glass tells that the wine was good, and most importantly that you are not an uncivilized drunkard.
As for the meal, as a customer it is within your rights to refuse the meal completely if you feel it was badly prepared or cooked, or if it really doesn't satisfy you. A good restaurant should/would accommodate to even the most demanding or unusual needs of their customers.
Seems a bit weird that someone would have their phone out and be recording him, unless he's done it multiple times
This is russia, they have cameras EVERYWHERE.

I'm very confused, why is that?
Yeah I'm probably mixing up with another part of Asia
China.
You're supposed to leave a little morsel on your plate to signify that the food made you full.

I've been taught that. I'm not sure why you found it very confusing..
But you see, in fancier restaurants, you are not there to get drunk, you know?

So what? It's trivial cultural difference, I see nothing wrong with it

It signals that the wine was fulfilling or something like that.
