How can you say? It could be 20 characters long for what you know.
A long password does not mean a strong password, depending on the letters and symbols used.
Not that I take this site seriously, but is it really that hard for people to come up with passwords that aren't complete shit? At minimum just use a password manger with a password generator.

so now his content is bad because he's a douche
this is so stupid lol

newsflash pretty much everyone here is a douche
The difference is we all know he is a gigantic douche now.
Being a douche doesnt invalidate an opinion or make them less relevant
Being a douche doesnt invalidate an opinion or make them less relevant
It does make them less likeable and their jokes less enjoyable though. He's an entertainer and his opinion is not as important as his comedic value, which for many is now ruined after finding out what a shithead he really is.
Im out of the loop, how is he a douche?
A long password does not mean a strong password, depending on the letters and symbols used.
256 bit hexadecimal passwords aren't getting cracked any time soon. If they want to spend that long they earned the single account it's the password for.
Can we make posting in these threads just to hate on him bannable, please? At least the "I didn't even watch the video" posts.
I just vary my password up by Year the thing came out, and thing it is, then the same password at the end..
Final Fantasy XIV would be FFXIV2013PASSWORD
Facepunch would be FP2001PASSWORD
Twitter would be T2010PASSWORD
Crunchyroll would be C2009PASSWORD

yeah uh about that, computerphile released this video today

Acted like a complete cunt to Markiplier, insulted the shit out of fans giving constructive criticism (he has very thin skin), called a 16 year old girl who moderated his reddit a whore for leaking the fact he wanted to delete criticism.

I dunno, it's not like he personally insulted me or anything so to be honest I don't really care how he treated somebody else
Im out of the loop, how is he a douche?
would upload drama constantly, drama that quite frankly most people couldn't give a fuck about. plus he was a general cunt.
he was friends with one of the most drama-causing idiots, until he denounced him like way too long after that (I personally don't care about this because I don't really care about keemstar)
people hate him because he's now clickbait. but apparently people aren't allowed to have opinions so if you hate GradeA then you're part of a hivemind!

I was bored and did a quick test with the first password as it is, just as a simple MD5 hash and I actually could not get it cracked with the dive ruleset and rockyou dictionary.
Doesn't say much since you could probably use better rules or dictionaries but was interesting.
Disregarding that you should have long, random passwords with special characters. PW manager helps.
I know a lot of people say long "simple" words stacked together are secure as well but to me it feels like a word combination bruteforce with slight variations could be viable on those. They would only stand against pure bruteforce.

He's an entertainer who gets mad and calls out shit. If one day, that entertainer calls out someone for totally inappropriate reasons, then you can't really take him seriously anymore because he sounds like a manchild.
It's kinda of like a comedian. If you're let's say you're Michael Richards and your entire gimmick is to be crazy, and you start spewing some crazy shit about black people your enjoyment of him is tarnished beyond repair.

I'm a firm believer that people make mistakes and that it shouldn't tarnish everything they do in the future, but that's just me. If someone acts like a dickhead and then drops that shit, I can't really fault them. It's irrelevant.
[editline]14th July 2016[/editline]
It's like another user previously said in this thread, his content is no different than it was when he first started uploading. Except for the drama stuff obviously I think everyone agrees that was boring

keem and grade rode each other's dicks for awhile, and now I can see why. they're both huge fucktools for each other.

This is very true so to combat this add one arbitrary symbol to your phrases. Stuff like $%^&* helps a lot to protect against dictionary attacks. Just stuff a symbol into some random word and it's already much more secure.
I dont know about that.

Guessing a 4 word string with numbers is going to take much longer than guessing a 7 character password. Symbols add the that, even with a dictionary attack.
The goal isn't to make your password uncrackable. If a password database is compromised, that password just needs to maintain integrity until your password can be changed to something else. So even if they do manage to find it, its useless. Hence why you also don't reuse passwords. That's also why salts exist. So even if one is found, they have to start from scratch to compute a different password.
Obviously, pseudo random passwords are best, however, you can't always rely on password managers to remember them for you. Like your Windows login for example or your password manager password. In that case, long phrase passwords win out for memorability.

It pretty much does?
One's character is taken in consideration just as much as their opinions.
I'm not important enough to ever be hacked.
Can someone please explain to me what people are mad at this guy for
I'm not important enough to ever be hacked.
Incredibly bad/dangerous thinking. A lot of "hacking" is done either
A. through large batch exploits (password dumps etc)
or
B. open-ended, non-targeted wardriving by bots
Anyone can be a target no matter how "important" you are because most people have online banking, paypal, etc now and that's a lotta dough just sitting there

This isn't some guy spouting facts or making complex arguments that are irrefutable. It's just a British cunt who was enjoyable until people saw that he could be just as bad as the content he criticized.

some people care about how nice/mean he is, others really could care less and are just looking at the content as is

The thing with that example is that what GradeAUnderA does isn't fact-based. It's entertainment, and usually opinion based. Not saying that he doesn't bring facts into it, but do people watch GradeAUnderA for the facts or the opinions?
Some people aren't going to watch an entertainer who's a dick, especially if their entertainment wasn't that amazing in the first place.

Nothing in this video was made any less true or false by virtue of his opinions or personality. It would be one thing if he was talking about how hypocritical people are or how thin skinned some people are, but someone being a dickhead has no bearing on jokes about cyber-security. It's not like he's some black hat who constantly steals people's shit making fun of the general population's inability to maintain their account's security.
