Good luck with that man. If you have to, settle for an 88-91, they're a little more boxy but just as expandable of a platform as the EG.
Slapping a quirky Japanese motor in an old rusty El Camino and restoring an El Camino are two different things. This is the former. Fuckton of words
This and most of the paragraph explains everything. The grainy pictures made the cars look alot worse than I thought though.
I'd drive one.
i was about to buy one but some people think their 170k mile 267 v8 caminos are worth $5,500 :colbert:
That's Ok, around here 250K mile 89 Toyota pickups go for $3,000. Even more if they've been rolled a few times. :colbert:

I just need to find one that is MPFI. But the thing I hate is that I would need to convert to hydro tranny, and obd0 to obd2 because I'm gonna swap out my b16a2 into it.
itt 4 bangers are gay Put an ej25 in it :v
itt 4 bangers are gay Put an ej25 in it :v
I really don't have the money to go by a $10k+ Subaru. Plus I think 4 bangers are fun as hell to drive, not the fastest but fun to mess with and cheap.
get an alfa romeo 3L v6 they are godly
I really don't have the money to go by a $10k+ Subaru. Plus I think 4 bangers are fun as hell to drive, not the fastest but fun to mess with and cheap.
@bradley el camino with boxer rumble should prove interesting
Oh god oh god with AWD drivetrain

Find a JDM B16A SiR tranny or use the transmission out of the DA Integra with the B17 or B18A1, they are a direct replacement. As with any B swap in an EF, use a Hasport EF B-series linkage or an SiR OEM linkage. All Si EF's are MPFI so look for an Si shell or one with a bad motor/tranny as it is pretty much a direct swap for a B series, use OBD0 since it is STILL the easiest to tune on. Chip a PM6 with a good B16 VTEC map and run your two wires for your VTEC solenoid and one wire for a new O2. It's a lot easier than swapping to OBD2, which is completely unnecessary, and even converting a DPFI Civic is easy but it'll cost you a couple hundred more for the correct dizzy and all of the stuff to switch the harness over, plus the intake. But definately keep it cable tranny and OBD0, you never know when you might detonate a B series and decide you want to go back to a single slammer, and it's much easier to do so when you're still in the car's OEM configuration. Plus, hydro trannies are a bitch. Leaky clutch lines, master cylinders... At least the only thing a cable can do is snap, and I've yet to have that happen on me because I take good care of my clutch. I put a brand new clutch in my car a year ago and when I did my tranny swap it still looked brand new. '65 Chevelle El Camino WRX STi. Not this time. Maybe when I have a lot of money. Also, MIGHT have a chance to get a 240SX coupe. Depending on how that goes I may end up using the parts I have for it, as the tranny is out and it is a SOHC KA (I have a DOHC KA24DE head). If this happens I'll likely go back domestic for the El Camino, but I might keep it four banger just for kicks. I've been wanting a good 240SX with a title for a while now and the coupe is my favorite body style, so we'll see how it goes. If the KA gets used in a 240, I plan on dropping something domestic but different in the El Camino. I've been thinking about a turbo Iron Duke build, or just turboing a SBC, but I'm wanting to keep with the small engine theme. If all of this goes to plan and I do get the 240, a friend of mine is willing to trade me engines and some cash I think for a V6 I have in another El Camino. He's got a built up iron duke but I'm not sure what all it needs... Would like to use it and a 4-speed or 5-speeed, I think I had a borg warner 5-speed out of an S-10 laying around that I might look into. The only small engine I know of that will fit basically by just bolting it in is the Iron Duke... Does anyone know of something else? Anyways, just an update. The road back across my property is still underwater so I can't get the El Camino out yet. Not sure when it'll dry up, soon hopefully. Otherwise I might have to find some other project until Summer rolls around. There's a REALLY bad flooding problem with the road going back at my place. :/
This is my current status of the Jeep Stuff that will be done: Exhaust system Fix front left window lift Mounting bracket for rear bumper Switch left taillight (it's been repaired before with fibre glass and looks ass) Interior (headlining and installing sound dampening) Get vacuum hoses for the engine New paintjob New grill Refirbish all 8 rims Ordered: Left taillight Rock rails Done: Radiator Central locking system fix Door electronics Interior lights are now turning off when the doors are shut
Wait, you finally got the radiator? Nice!
Yeeees it was actually the wrong one since those jeeps come with two different radiators but the only difference was a small plug which dad rebuilt to make it fit and it worked :buddy: Also for the restoration of the rims I need a polish wax that takes away scratches and gives a mirror finish. Anyone got a suggestion?

This was my first time cleaning up some rims and it did a great job so it should be even better when you do it. I don't know about taking scratches away though, it did kind of hide them by the shine.
Always use Mothers, you can't get better than that. [editline]11th May 2011[/editline] To get scratches out all I know of is Turtle Wax's rubbing compound. Don't use Turtle Wax's actual wax though, definately use Mothers.
the reason I want one that takes scratches away is because I need to use this: well thanks for the tip :buddy: I could ask some local mechanics too maybe
I used this for the majority of the rim, then I hand applied and cleaned the rest. Mother's Powerball
Good luck building a complete disgrace to everything muscle related. Would be a good idea to pry off every Chevrolet and El Camino emblem.
yeah, it needs to roar. put a vg30 in it

[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/erpG0.jpg[/img_thumb] And what appears to be bits of an exhaust system and the camera was hard to hold still there so excuse the horrible quality: [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/ZLBzw.jpg[/img_thumb]
Getting some goodies for the Civic :D Can't wait.
back from shopping :q: [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/dsuBK.jpg[/img_thumb]
Anyone in PA know where I can buy inspection stickers?
Ldesu, you given any thought to cleaning some of the underbody and slapping some rust sealant on?
Ldesu, you given any thought to cleaning some of the underbody and slapping some rust sealant on?
Yes ofc I'm definitely doing the leaf springs and the axle, and respraying the rear bar where the trailer hitch is the rest isn't really that bad
Anyone got a bigass FMIC for sale on the cheap? Also, Lemon_lover, been trying to PM you about that turbo you have but Y U NO REPLY :C I want to buy it, if my price is a little low that's fine I can go up a bit I just need to know what you want so I can get it and clean it up , and see how it's going to work in my bay. Since it's internally wastegated I can use an HF manifold with a T3 flange adapter and then just downpipe it and run some oil lines, so I'd like to get it and a front mount as soon as possible, I'll be MPFI by next week. Would have been MPFI today but I didn't have a 12mm wrench. Might do it tomorrow and have Japfeiffer watch me do it and hang out w/e. I'm having to use a Z6 dizzy on my Y7 head but shit should be okay. Going to use my 5-prong plug and run a two-wire jumper plug off of it for the CYP, then run OBD1 injectors so I don't have to use a resistor box. Going to be great having a MPFI car done right, or at least mostly right unitl I can afford a TD-02U (I think that's the dizzy I need) that fits my head right. Edit: Looks like I'll be MPFI tomorrow if I get my ECU tonight. I got ditched by my friends so I went and finished getting my parts in the rain. Woohoo!
sorry, read your pm late one night and forgot i had it the next day. yeah the turbo is internally wastegated but the wastegate flapper thing is not built into the turbo, it's in the o2 housing/downpipe thing. So you're have you cut that off and weld a pipe to it [editline]11th May 2011[/editline] here i found pictures from a z31 turbo or something, it looks like this [editline]11th May 2011[/editline] i also dont have the wastegate acutator for it [editline]11th May 2011[/editline] maybe go EWG with something like this? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/T3-T4-TURBO-EXHAUST-DOWNPIPE-FLANGE-ALUMINUM-GASKET-/220779237927?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item336777d227 [img_thumb]http://trendgears.com/ebay/TacoTacoNew/Accessories/DPF-Combo.jpg[/img_thumb]
Alright, so EWG it is. It'll cost about the same for an EWG cast manifold as it would for a HF to T3 adapter so that's alright by me. When can I shot buy? Depending on how much I splurge on this MPFI swap I might be able to buy it over next week or maybe the weekend after. I spent about an hour in the rain grabbing a Z6 manifold completely outfitted with rail, injectors, all the sensors. I was going to hack the injector clips off but I realized something... I might be doing OBD1 injectors and not using a resistor box (so I can't use my DSM 440's yet) but I can still use the DSM plugs so that I won't have to modify the injectors, and with the right O-rings they will be plug and play with a resistor box. So I just got done cleaning up the plugs :3 About to call the guy on my ECU and go by Autozone to get an intake gasket, then if both of those things go well I'll be MPFI tomorrow.
While searching for a rebuild kit I stumbled upon this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Garrett-internal-wastegate-T3-T4-turbo-turbonetics-gate-/270747007009?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3AThunderbird|Submodel%3ATurbo&hash=item3f09c77821 Maybe cheaper than going external WG... [editline]12th May 2011[/editline] FFFFFFFFFFFFF AUTOMERGE Y U NO MERGE AUTOMATICALLY
