I wouldn't say Enter Shikari is post hardcore. At least not purely, because of the trance/electronic sounds. It's more like trancecore, just with a little less 'core'.
I never got angry over you guys discussing actual post-hardcore. Plus, the only real christian band I can think of that I originally listed was blessthefall. Attack Attack denied it in a blog post and From First to Last even hits towards being against Christianity a tad bit claiming that they "bought up hardcore." It's just a song though. It sounds like you dislike it only because of the fact that they produce Christianity-related music, that sounds very intolerant, but I think what you mean is that you don't like the mainstream post-hardcore.
I was responding to your fagazi "joke" with another joke
but you are correct I don't because they are "pop hardcore" or now even more often just fucking club techno music with added guitars. so much pop it makes my mind rot.
Post-Hardcore has its origin in Punk according to Wikipedia.
yeah because the "hardcore" theyre referring to is hardcore punk, like black flag, bad brains, circle jerks etc., not any kind of metal.

Unfortunately I'm going to have to agree with Vedicardi here
I really hate the bands which sound like they want to be electronic, but instead throw in some chugging and some weak breakdowns in order to label themselves post hardcore/electronica or something
If I'd never heard post hardcore before and somebody told me to listen to one of those bands, I would have absolutely hated the music and avoided it at all costs from that point onwards.
What I don't get it how they are so popular, and why there are so many of them. Everyone I know despises them.
yeah because the "hardcore" theyre referring to is hardcore punk, like black flag, bad brains, circle jerks etc., not any kind of metal.
aren't all cores derived from punk essentially, or at least evolved from a style that was heavily influenced by it?
Also has anyone heard of or listened to Of Mice & Men?
They're a pretty awesome band, and they've got cleans to rival Emarosa.
The only minus about the band, is that the vocalist who orginally did the screamed vocals was from Attack Attack!, but he's gone now and they've got a new vocalist
If you haven't listened to their self titled effort (which is the only thing they've got out) yet, I'd suggest you do, because it's awesome.
Yes I listen to Of Mice & Men, they have quite some cool songs I dislike their screaming though.
Also some Aiden and Alesana here since they were not mentioned hin this thread before.
Do not watch at the retarded clothes and shit, just listen if the clothes bothers you.

I have to agree, I disliked the screams too
They've grown on me now though
I think Attack Attack!'s screamer was really good. One of my favourites. Glad to see he's gone on to a better band lol.
Also listening to Of Mice and Men

Good stuff
What band did he go to?
Well their screaming has grown on me too but it's quite bad compared to that of for example Alesana, well in my opinion that is.
I don't think there's anything bad about post-hardcore, it's just that there is an insane amount of post-hardcore bands, and they are all 90% alike. They all have pretty much the same kind of names, lyrics, musical style and fashion style.
Just take a look at this picture:

It could be almost any post hardcore band out there, because they all look like this.
The most a post-hardcore band can vary in musical style is that they might add some electronic elements and autotune, but that's pretty much it.
And the names are all very samey-samey, like:
X The Y, We Came As/With x, wedontlikespacesorcapitalletters, As x Dies/Falls/Burns and the like
The use of words in their names like:
hope, fate, dreams, die, remains, fall, before
It all gets very repetitive, and you don't really need to listen to more than a few bands before you have every part of the genre covered.
Like I said, I don't think there's anything bad about post hardcore in general, it's just that there's too much of the same things.
Stizzles nailed it. It's a really good genre but they're all very similar. VERY similar.
[editline]24th October 2010[/editline]
Did Fugazi and Minor Threat have the same singer? They sound very similar at least
I think you might be confusing post-hardcore with metalcore.

yeaaaah that's awesome.
Yeah while punk has really pretty much lost all that it once was, which was much more awesome, I still enjoy the music
well post-hardcore anyway pop punk and the like is just plain terrible
Haha, Adept are my friends. Their music is alright, but it's pretty clear they have a set sound for their music. My own band are supporting them in November.

Way to go with generalizing one genre without realizing that the same thing could be said about whatever you listen to as well. Whether it's rap, metal, classic rock, or any other genre, people create similar music, as well as sing/scream about similar things. That's how you classify music, which would be called genres. It would make sense that people who like/create similar music, would also appear to be similar, right?
Way to go with generalizing one genre without realizing that the same thing could be said about whatever you listen to as well.
yes because he clearly stated that post-hardcore is the only genre that can be generalised
Way to go with generalizing one genre without realizing that the same thing could be said about whatever you listen to as well. Of course there are a lot of similar bands in other genres, but post-hardcore bands are just too similar while there are also so many of them. It's almost a shame that all these talented artists are wasting their skills on sounding just like any other post-hardcore band, when they could be doing something different to stand out and still be great.
And I do listen to post-hardcore, but I don't go looking for more like it, like I do with other genres.
If I see a post-hardcore band that I haven't heard of before I'm not really going to get excited about it if they seem just like any other stereotypical scenester post-hardcore band out there.
I wasn't saying that post-hardcore is bad, because it isn't. There's just too much of generic bands with nothing special about them.
I don't bother with post-hardcore bands unless there's more to them than just some pop-punk/metalcore hybrid.
I sometimes like it when post-hardcore is fused with other genres, but I always get tired of post-hardcore bands much quicker than any other genre, even though it really is a good genre.
Enjoy a slow song from Aiden.

And suggest me a good band, I already knew all the bands listed in this thread.
Also there are plenty of unique Post-Hardcore bands, Aiden, Alesana and Ice Nine Kills for example.
Yeah what Doriol said. Take a look at Fugazi.

I completely agree. There are a lot of repetitive bands in post-hardcore. It get's pretty annoying. From First to Last honestly seems a bit different from most of the bands but still similar. I haven't heard many of the creative bands and I mainly just stick to some of the pretty bad bands mainly because I listened to them a while ago when I was a little bit less mature.

As much as I love post hardcore, this man has nailed it right on the head.
It's generic, whiny and scenester , but hey, I dig it
I wouldn't go as far to say that the bands are all the same though. Yeah it's all about the same basic principle, but that's why a certain kind of music is for.
Just like how Death Metal deals with things like sorrow, anger, war, existence, post hardcore deals with being a whiny pussy
But so long as you enjoy the music, who cares? I certainly don't which is why I intend to keep listening to it.
Bands like Emarosa and Of Mice & Men are some of the greatest examples I believe, they're just great to listen to
[editline]25th October 2010[/editline]
Hell as I type this I'm listening to 36 Crazyfists
I think I'll like Post for a long time, who cares if they have generic names? It's something I can kind of relate to at times, and it's easy on the ears.
Alexisonfire is some pretty good post-hardcore.
They're from Canada and aren't that huge so I don't expect a lot of you to know them, so here are some songs.
This could be Anywhere in the World

Born and Raised

Dude are you kidding? Everyone knows who Alexisonfire are. Good band though.
Yeah they're pretty popular. Good shit.
why is At The Drive-In considered Post-Hardcore?
Because that's the kind of music they played?
Because that's the kind of music they played?
well it's just kind of random
[editline]24th October 2010[/editline]
the only band in the OP they had something in common with was Fugazi, but that's a stretch
