Escape the Fate's new album comes out in 8 days. Not really looking forward to it that much. They've turned too generic. It's not bad but doesn't sound amazing. Ronnie's album, the debut, was by FAR their best work. He had a unique voice, and brought his own sound to the music. Kept EtF from sounding like 'just another band', but with Craig they no longer have that extra edge to them. I fucking love Dying Is Your Latest Fashion. This War Is Ours is good but not amazing. So good :3:
Yeah while punk has really pretty much lost all that it once was, which was much more awesome, I still enjoy the music well post-hardcore anyway pop punk and the like is just plain terrible
Punk is still around, no doubt, post-hardcore is too. What you see here being called post-hardcore is more like pop hardcore, as I stated before. It's taking the whines and melodic vocals of pop-punk like blink-182 and then the riffing of deathcore. It really bares no resemblance to post-hardcore and I feel it's really an incorrect label for a variety of reasons. It's like calling Nickelback post grunge. You can see where they're coming from to an extent, but really it's just a new form of pop-rock. [editline]25th October 2010[/editline]
It's been established many times by many people, but let me remind the idiots: THIS IS NOT SCREAMO, IF YOU BELIEVE THAT IT IS, YOU SHOULD STUDY UP.

I don't want people coming in here acting like "I KNOW ALL THERE IS TO KNOW, YOUR MUSIC IS NOT REEEEAAAAAL POST-HARDCORE" blah blah blah I see it in every single thread involving any type of music genre. I'm posting what ever I identify as post-hardcore, but I sometimes do get it mixed with metalcore.
Does no one else see the INSANE irony here? If you care enough to tell people something isn't screamo, why the fuck don't you want to correctly classify your genre further? IE If I posted a thread called screamo and posted these bands he would jump in screaming about how they're not screamo but as soon as we do the same with him calling these bands post-hardcore he says "I don't care it's what I call post-hardcore that matters!" Hypocritical, typical of post-hardcore fans, no?
Generic band image ahoy! This is what I call a good cover I totally forgot about. Better than the original imo. [editline]19:10PM[/editline] Also Silverstein is also quite kickass, I'm surprised nobody mentioned them yet.
covering pop songs to be "rebellious" is one of the most ridiculous trends. It's as if they are trying to point out the most obvious thing in the world. POP SUCKS? NO SHIT. If that's not that case and they legitimately like and want to cover this music, then I just feel bad for them.
Oh wow Vedicardi I totally agree with you on all points No really, I do
Well it is indeed a rediculous trend but I found that one properly executed and enjoyable to listen.
wow I just listened to the song and they barely changed anything about it. I think they legitimately like that shit. And that is pop-punk at best, not even close to anything that resembles post-hardcore. Sounds more like a shitty avenged sevenfold song that anything else. [editline]25th October 2010[/editline]
Oh wow Vedicardi I totally agree with you on all points No really, I do
yay someone likes me
Children of Bodom covered Britney Spears I honestly think that CoB's covers are far better than their original music :v: terrible vocals in this song but they work. Their cover album is their best album. This band is decent at best really. Not a clue why they're so famous. Well I do, they sell all their shit at hot topic and they've become trendy. But they're still terrible compared to the better bands of Melodeath.
the difference between their clearly parody styled cover and the other above cover where they just "adapted" the cover to appeal to a extremely broad yet different audience is clear [editline]25th October 2010[/editline] CoB is just better at promoting than anyone else. I don't think they're any worse for it since it doesn't effect their music much at all. [editline]25th October 2010[/editline] CoB is just better at promoting. I don't think their is any worse than someone like In Flames or anything just because of that. They're plenty good. I don't listen to them myself though.
Post-Hardcore is awesome. Blessthefall, was good when Craig was in, but since he left, I never liked the new singer. Escape the Fate, is the band that Craig is currently in. However they're turning out pretty bad in my opinion, they will release a new album in November, so hopefully they've wrote something good. Black Veil Brides, have some really good songs. Andy Sixx is a skilled singer. Enter Shikari, I've seen them live, once, here in Sweden in October at Moshpit Open 2010. Impression I've gotten is that they have alot of fun live. They have some great songs, and some - in my taste - bad. FACT, if you like Japan and the Japanese language & their music, this is a band for you. It's a somewhat Post-Hardcore Japanese band. I really enjoy their music. Those are some bands you should check out, and see if you like.
Seems time for my customary Devil Sold His Soul post. Fucking love this band, I would class them as progressive/ambient post hardcore but others may agree, not that there seems to be much in way of consensus in what is and isn't post hardcore here, they still fucking slay.
Glassjaw are fucking incredible. That is all.
Could somebody tell me which ones of Fugazi's albums are studio albums?
Damn Escape the Fate is becoming generic not bad just generic. Their first album was brilliant in my opinion but now they're just another Post-Hardcore band. And Dopey Trout that song is awesome.
I don't think the "old" post-hardcore and the new scene stuff is the same, and you shouldn't say all post-hardcore sounds the same because only the new scene/emo stuff does.

And I just learnt they're coming to Edinburgh (thank you last.fm you are so fucking useful for this stuff) In February. Will probably go. Thought I'd give you the heads up since you're from around here too, incase you're interested.

And a generic band is in my opinion in music a band that sounds the same as the majority of the bands of a genre at the moment.

Ah right cool. Was a bit disappointed upon reading that, good to hear there's a Glasgow show. And it'd be nice to actually go with someone this time :v:
We'll need to meet up at Amorphis too :v: bravehat's going to that too I think
Oh cool, that'd be sweet! :buddy: My stepbrother's coming to that one, as well. You going to any other gigs? Going to DevilDriver on the 7th November and Arch Enemy on the 24th, might go to Fear Factory in December. Going to BFMV with some other friends cos one got me a ticket for my birthday which is pretty good.
Dillinger on the 29th, planning on getting a ticket for Arch Enemy and probably for Fear Factory. Probably some local gigs too. Ooh and I think Rinoa are touring soon too so I might catch them
Could somebody tell me which ones of Fugazi's albums are studio albums?
all of them besides stage dive masters and "live series"
Anyone here like Lovehatehero? They seem pretty generic to me but I've noticed that the generic bands started popping up a little later than they did.
It'd be good to go to a gig with a facepuncher I only go to a couple shows in a year though I got to a decent amount of local shows with my friends though [editline]26th October 2010[/editline]
covering pop songs to be "rebellious" is one of the most ridiculous trends. Can we just for once focus on the music? Yes at times it may be somewhat unoriginal, and you're complaining about pop punk bands that do terrible covers well so what? Let's just focus on what we're doing, and forget about the fans, and covers all together You may not like pop punk, fine that's cool, just stop repeating yourself. I don't like how pop punk bands cover shit songs either, but I do enjoy listening to the albums that they write themselves. Let's just try to stay on track here, this isn't about pop punk or the shit covers they do I mean you obviously have a better understanding of post hardcore than most of us, but just stop complaining, please
someone posted a cover and I posted what I thought about it. Isn't the point of the thread to discuss these bands and post what you think about them?
Yes it is, and he was posting his opinion about your opinion.
he's telling me to "stop repeating myself" while saying how much you like band x over and over isn't any different. The thread was about post hardcore and you can see on the first page I posted the post hardcore I like and through out the rest of the thread I stayed generally optimistic and on topic. This is one of the few threads where I didn't spark any negativity, only posted my opinions on others' observations, at least for the most part. Read through the thread and you'll see that
Anyone like Fear Before? A couple from The Always Open Mouth. Good album, their peak I would say
I never heard about them before, cool stuff. I'm gonna look more into them. Thank you for posting them.
