If they're just looking to make an impressive effects reel maybe they should have used used something else than CS:GO to bind it all together, otherwise it'll look like a really overproduced frag montage
If they used "footage" (ideas) from some other game, then this same exact argument would be coming up within its context, with the argument being "Maybe they should have used something like CS:GO to bind it together, because right now it looks like a really overproduced x y". If they used a unique idea, then that would require them to spend time writing, choreographing, and directing such an idea. CSGO seems like an obvious choice for filler content to me: "Hey guys, let's make some crazy over-produced video, with the action synced to the music and some sick-ass transitions, and some crazy over-the-top destruction effects too!" "Okay, well, what should we do for the actual content to do the editing on? You can't exactly edit a blank canvas." "Uhhh, how about just some CSGO action? It's easy, it's fast-paced, it's action-packed, lots of people like it, and it has enough leeway that we could edit in all that stuff." "Yeah! That's a lot easier than spending time on writing, choreographing, and directing - all of which are things we aren't trying to focus on." They could have used Halo footage, sure, or Call of Duty. They could have even tried to make a video like this for Doom, or Overwatch, if the video were to be worked on now. Regardless of the medium, it'd always look like a "really overproduced frag montage" because they chose to use frags as their filler - they're fast, they're easy, and they don't require the time and effort for writing and choreographing.
The real question is how full of yourself do you have to be to even think about making something like this. Actually, how full of yourself do you have to be to get somebody else to make this for you
to be fair, im pretty sure the people in the montage didnt go and ask someone to make this for them, some random guy did. the person who uploaded it just does nothing but compile montages of other people on their channel, and the probably commissioned someone to make a more professional, super overedited one. and im not even sure if they even commissioned them, they mentioned working with them on it so who knows.
is that a problem or something? they wanted to make a frag video of csgo but they wanted to use their artistic skills for it. 99% of fragmovies are just filters on gameplay so they wanted something different. ive never seen someone do that sorta thing, actually remaking frag scenes in another program, it would have looked even better if it wasnt so overedited with the headmasks and shit.
thats true, it does seem a bit silly, but it doesnt have much to do with pride since its just random people making the montage for themselves, not for the pro players showcased in it or anything.
If they're just looking to make an impressive effects reel maybe they should have used used something else than CS:GO to bind it all together, otherwise it'll look like a really overproduced frag montage
I practice my photoshop skills editing weird shit I make in sfm or reskins for games It's not unreasonable for someone to spend a ton of time making some crazy csgo video to practice vfx or some other simple reason.
The video looks a bit more than just simple practice, but that's just me. People are allowed to do whatever they want with their time, I'm not trying to argue that
I mean if I had the know how and drive to make something like this, I totally would because It'd be pretty great to put this in a portfolio. The editing in this is masterful Hell that could be a reason why this got made, they wanted to show off their sick-nasty editing skills and then shove it into a portfolio
