I would say they are extremely lucky they didn't harm anyone during the misfire.

well they did fire it in a bomb range, if it was out in public they'd probably get jailed but it will most likely end with discovery paying damages

They are very concerned with safety and if you just saw something you launched go in to a house that was potenitally occupied... you'd probably be a bit worried.[/QUOTE] Yeah, I'd be worried of being charged. I doubt they could be sued for too much, given the amount of practice and all the safety measures they put in place. This was more of a once in a lifetime fluke, that is unless they've went slack on safety.

Everyone talking about houses being near the bomb range have to remember that there was a giant hill between the houses and the actual bomb range. It's a perfectly safe bomb range for regular explosives. You have to remember, cannons are artillery, they're made to shoot far. It just so happened in the freak accident that the cannon misfired and the cannonball went over the hill. If they were to go down to the salt flats every single time they wanted to shoot something at high velocity they'd never get anything done because it's a day trip in each direction.
