Armbands on the two guys said "CDT" and "Corpse Disposal Team 6" Guy calls out to Reedus as "Sam", Reedus also has "Porter" on his shoulder. Possible protag name of "Sam Porter"?
So potentially this is the beginning of the game? If Mads Mikkelsen's body was the one they were disposing of, it looks like it went awry and he came back as a mind-controlled leader of the eldritch creatures' forces. On the other hand, I have a feeling that this game will not be told chronologically. We may be somewhere close to the end before zapping back to the middle.
I think people are gagging on Kojimas willy a bit much, let's wait till the game is out to see if it's actually good, it's still at the stage where people are thinking about what the game might be about, building up their own expectations and then passing that off as how the game is going to be even though we haven't seen any gameplay or other details yet. Despite that I'm excited to see how it turns out.
MGSV might not be his greatest game, but its still a really good ass game. Its got more charm and better gameplay than most other games on the market.
Yeah, I hate Phantom Pain as a metal gear game, but it was some of the most polished gameplay of 2015. To say Kojima hasn't made a good game since 2004 is some next level crazy. Even when they're a flawed mess, they still offer some kind of unique unforgettable experience compared to 80% of stuff on the market.
Imo, cryptic shit only works if the people behind it have a clear view of what they are building, regardless of whether they are planning on sharing the whole scoop with the audience or not. In terms of Death Stranding however, I have a good feeling that everything, no matter how bizarre it seems now, actually means something. There is a ton of media, art and other things that are strange for the sake of being strange. But like most post-modern art, it's "up for interpretation!!!". Which is to say, it doesn't actually mean anything.
I think it's easy to separate lazy stream of consciousness from thoughtful work if you can do a tiny bit of critical analysis. Even if we get some pretty eldritch visuals and interesting baby-reliance lore that culminate to very little I'd be happy, it's some cool stuff. The trailers alone have my imagination running wild. With the exception of Nier I can't think of many other games that have done that recently outside of when I was a kid; I'm all for devs attempting to make artsy nonsense. Edit: Can anyone identify what formulas these are?

I mean yeah sure you got the cryptic and artsy fartsy avant garde presentation down pat but there is still no game and that's the most important part.
I mean yeah sure you got the cryptic and artsy fartsy avant garde presentation down pat but there is still no game and that's the most important part.
thanks i dont think anyone realized that there was no game yet

No pc release?
Here are some 4K wallpapers I made from the trailer in case anybody is interested: EDIT: Link cause I'm probably embedding the album wrong: https://imgur.com/a/Nb50y
I mean yeah sure you got the cryptic and artsy fartsy avant garde presentation down pat but there is still no game and that's the most important part.
I was worried about the same but the consistency of elements between the "trailers" has me hopeful that this isn't just Kojima wasting money on fancy music videos. He's either deliberately stretching people's expectations because he knows he can, or he has nothing to show for it, but I think he earned the benefit of the doubt by this point.
Seems like the have a bad case of realities bleeding into each other.
I need this, I love rare collectibles. hopefully they'll make more so it isn't in the thousands of dollars range
Just get like a bunch of these bad boys and put them on something like this and you're good to go :v: [t]https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/31Oxe9nDG-L.jpg[/t][t]https://i.imgur.com/5yH5D69.png[/t]
No pc release?
They said a while ago this will be a timed exclusive on PS4 with a later release on PC. Not sure if that's still the case. Regardless, will be interesting to see the Decima engine ported to the PC, maybe it will pave the way for some more games to make their way there (not expecting anything like Horizon: Zero Dawn of course).
This looks cool as hell, but damn is it impressive to create an 8 minute trailer and expand on literally nothing. It's the phrase "leaves us with more questions than answers" but without any trace of the whole "answers" part. Also the Norman Reedus fetus rhymes are arguably the best part about the whole thing.
Norman Reedus and his Norman Fetus seriously has me asking more questions with every new trailer, that's so rare. I'm so used to trailers giving away the entire movie/game, this is a serious breath of fresh air.
If Phantom pain had a story that didn't feel like trash and some better areas to explore it would probably be one of the greatest games of all time. It plays incredibly but you're stuck playing in these pointless and boring open world segments
he's becoming too powerful
I mean yeah sure you got the cryptic and artsy fartsy avant garde presentation down pat but there is still no game and that's the most important part.
hey buddy! Kojima has a proven track record of THIRTY YEARS in the video game industry, and almost every single title he's made has been released to wide acclaim and every game, with almost no exception, has had fucking incredible gameplay I don't need to see gameplay RIGHT NOW RIGHT THIS SECOND to know whatever he puts out is going to have fun gameplay even if some of the other aspects of it aren't so great. Every game in the MGS series has been stupid fun to play and I don't think DS is gonna be any different. On top of that it's still a while until it releases provided it is coming out next year, probably not until the later half of the year. We have opportunities to see gameplay still. Just be patient and appreciate the theatrics until we eventually get shown gameplay that will probably blow us away
With the exception of ZOE 1 Kojima has made sure every game he's made has played fantastically

I'm in it for the cutscenes and boss battles, baby, and those are fucking incredible every time.
the esophagus has hand prints on it to the left of the baby head Also, I think the dream catcher might be there to protect the baby
I honestly don't care if the gameplay ends up being terrible. Theses trailers are amazing by themself and as a designer it's super inspiring to see someone push his vision and creative ideas so far. My main fear is that he keeps his habits of having insanely cool visuals that end up having no narrative meaning and are never mentionned again or explained, and are just there to be cool. [sp]fire whales, son[/sp] At the same time one of the reason that world is so cool is precisely because it's so cryptic and mysterious, and shows its rules one by one. In an age of boring narrators and cliché exposition, this is so refreshing. I just hope that by the end of the game most major surnatural and cryptic ideas shown in the trailers fits at least the rules of the world he built and are understandable in that frame of reference.
What if this was just an elaborate, multifaceted PSA about abstinence, peer-pressure, and suicide prevention?
I was thinking pro-life
he's becoming too powerful
That fucking cupnoodle's hat. I'm dying :v:

[sp]fire whales, son[/sp]
i thought that was pretty obvious what he was going for. [sp]moby dick references out the whazoo. ishmael, ahab, pequod, etc,. also the fire whale was a representation of ahab/venom snake's emotions controlling psycho mantis (hence the shrapnel in psycho mantis' head during that scene), which is also how every scene with psycho mantis occurs, with something on him representing who is currently controlling him with their emotions (red armband for eli, etc.)[/sp]
Im still bothered by the fact that there's no gameplay yet, but goddamn now that kojima can do whatever he wants he's going balls to the wall with all this insanity, and im loving it so far. Kojima Unchained
Is it weird that one of the things that stuck out to me the most is something as mundane as how awesome his costume is?
i think the trailers follow a time line, trailer 3>1>2.
