Yep, this guy is an A class psychopath.
I think we should embalm people like this to bury them, although no one sees you once your buried it make people feel better that they wont be rotting away or your family member wont be rotting.

I don't want to be cremated, or burried. This method isn't for me either. I'll just have to live forever.

It was almost sad, but it was also pretty interesting. The guy was 60something and looked 40, so he was on the right track I guess. I wouldn't want to live forever though.

I'd love to see the world change.
Seen his exhibit in Manchester. Amazing stuff. There was more than this. There were babies...a corpse from each gestation period. Interesting as hell.
I also went to see it in Manchester, great show. The babies weren't as bad as some when I went to Russia. In St. Petersburg there was an area of a museum full of jars full of aborted foetuses with various abnormalities
He came up with a patented method of embalming which replaces water and fats in corpses with resins.
Anyone?
Anyone?
Damn, there use to be some exhibit thing at our local amusement park with that name. It still scares the shit of me, thinking back on it. The statues looked so real. I used to think they secretly murdered people then waxified them. (I was like 9 back then)
He also did a camel and a horse and a pregnant woman
I saw the camel at OMSI. It was huge, and very cool to see.
*House of Wax* Anyone?
Haha. It is a bit Vincent Pricey.

It was really creepy back then, there were a bunch of darker areas with Frankenstein's Monster type models.
I'm halfway between that's awesome and that's disgusting. But in all seriousness, I can understand why this would be controversial.
That's amazing. I don't find it disgusting at all, I find it awesome because I'm one of those guys that like to look at the insides of things to satisfy my curiosity, just to see how it is, how it works, etc. And this does just that. I can understand why some people think/believe this is disgusting, the thought of skinning dead people, but still, I think this is awesome.
Pretty fucked up in my opinion. Interesting nonetheless.
it looks so real that it looks fake! ive seen these ragdoll things everywhere. now they are just common. i cant tell the difference about the real thing and the fake. and i dont care either.
it looks so real that it looks fake! ive seen these ragdoll things everywhere. now they are just common. i cant tell the difference about the real thing and the fake. and i dont care either.
Thats because it is effectively plastic now.
Thats because it is effectively plastic now.
well regardless of what it looks like its still art. i dont usually like arts but this one is very awesome. i hope kanye west doesnt interrupt this thread >.>

I really hope he gets consent for this shit.
I wouldn't mind seeing this in real life. Do they let you touch them?
It is certainly creative, very awesome and interesting to look at. However I do find it disrespectful to the dead people used. If they of course somehow said "yeah Gunther I'm cool with you playing with my corpse when I die" then it's a whole different matter.
I wouldn't mind seeing this in real life. Do they let you touch them?
Not sure, there are photographs with Hagens touching them, but I guess he owns them. I would think not as they are exhibits.
It is certainly creative, very awesome and interesting to look at. However I do find it disrespectful to the dead people used.
I really hope he gets consent for this shit.
Your avatar fits perfectly with your pessimisti-- err realistic nature.
Your avatar fits perfectly with your pessimisti-- err realistic nature.
Yeah what a buzzkill thinking it would be unethical to use anyone but volunteers.
If no one gets hurt, let it be. I don't really like it, but I'm not against it.
And when I say consent I don't mean people who sign a form and say okay, I mean signing with absolute knowledge that you're going to be a naked pirate for eternity. [editline]02:43PM[/editline] Or that he's going to make one of those blooming onions with their face.
Do they let you touch them?

I went with my school a year or two ago to the exhibition in Manchester, it was awesome! And some guy who was in my year made a bet for 20p to shove his finger up the gorrilas ass. He did it.
I guess so. :ms: Or his friend got lucky.
