His stuff is great. Personally I would love to see how he does it from the point he gets the body to the point it get's on display. Having disected 2 rats in my past I can see how challenging it would be to get the individual body systems to be so clean like that.
Do a google search on plastination. This whole thing sparked a bit of an interest to me an i wanted to find out more. I found a site with a guy who took pictures of the bodys going through the process. There was one with a bunch of pins stuck in it holding back all the different layers and it just kinda got me. So im not going to go searching for it again. I dont know if im for it or not, but it is interesting. I think i may have also searched for the institute of plastination. Im usually not a squeamish person. Ive seen plenty of shock images thanks to the internet. For some reason some of these get to me though.
I remember in my 7th grade year, we went to Minneapolis on a field trip. Part of going there, we went to see the Body Museum, which is more-or-less, the same type of display as this. They had corpses in very artistic forms. One included a nerve structure riding atop a horse. Ah, what a marvelous day that was.
My anatomy class is going to an exhibit full of this called the Bodies exhibit. I'm excited.

If you're mature, and not easily nauseated, you'll enjoy the exhibit.
It seems more educational then artistic. I mean it's not like he's doing anything fucked up with the bodies (i.e. chopping them up and making into other objects, like cars and trees and stuff)
Don't get me wrong though, there obviously is an artistic aspect to it.
Personally I think he's a genius.
I went to see an exhibition full of this kind of stuff, but more educational-focused.
Very, very interesting (and cool!)
And when I say consent I don't mean people who sign a form and say okay, I mean signing with absolute knowledge that you're going to be a naked pirate for eternity.

When you die your consciousness dies. Of course he gets permission, but it doesn't matter as you can't disrespect an inanimate object.
And yes, I would be fine with my body used for something like this.
I wouldn't mind my body being a naked pirate after I die
There are also other smaller exhibits like this that have come up, namely "Bodies Revealed" and "Bodies... The Exhibition".
They have similar, though not as extensive, exhibits and if a Body Worlds exhibition is nowhere near you then there is a good chance are that one of them will have a more convenient location.
Though it should be noted that Body Worlds is the only such exhibition that has a doner program. All the others get their bodies in a way similar to how medical schools and labs do, so consent is not a requirement in those cases. If you have serious moral objections to that then that's something to keep in mind.
If I could, I'd be a naked pirate anyways!
When the local university had their open day, the anatomy department had out some specimens (they had worked with Dr. Hagens on the process)
One notable aspect, was that you were allowed to touch them (pick them up, etc.), the actual texture of the surface is really quite strange (you don't pick up somebody's heart and expect to feel rubber)

If you mean about the homosexual corpse posing, then yes, it would perish painfully in the States.

oh god
when I saw this I felt completely and utterly horrified
I don't think I'll ever be able to look at a person the same way again
In my opinion, the man is a genius. What better way to study the human anatomy than by using actual human beings. And I'm sure he is using people who willingly gave their bodies to science. So, this is what they are used for.

art != science, I would hate for my body to be put on display in this way if I donated my body to science

That's not an artist, that's House's dried shrived corpse.

I have a permanent boner thanks to plasticization.
