One of the most disturbing movie scenes I have seen in a while - General

Irréversible has great special effects, especially for an independent 2002 film. The situations are disturbing, but the suspension of disbelief isn't there. Just seems like another exploitative Hollywood movie.

Oh baby, that's awesome! I like this woman's assertiveness, though I'm AMAZED she didn't call the fucking cops first. I mean, yeah she had a gun, but I wouldn't have put my back to those people for a second. Personally, the moment I found the kid stuffed in the closet, I'd have shot out their fucking kneecaps. Fuck training the gun on them; if you KNOW these fuckers pulled this and can prove it, don't even give them the chance to interfere. Nobody's standing up or attacking unarmed after getting shot in the leg, and they'll most likely survive it. Meanwhile, you're safe, the kids are safe, and if nobody somehow heard the gunfire, get the fuzz down there. No jury in the world is going to convict someone for this, and if they did, you shot them in the leg, they lived, and you were under a severe potential threat. Either way, GREAT filming. For being basically bloodless, PG-13 and not witnessing any scenes of child abuse, that was suspenseful and vindicating. I've seen entire movies manage less throughout their total running time. People don't ACTUALLY fly backwards upon being shot. However fast they travel, bullets are small objects compared to a human body, and they're designed around piercing and damaging surrounding tissue via hydroshock. Yeah though, we don't really see them stumbling or anything, just writhing in pain.
