I worked at like 80% efficiency, but in the end I'm glad I did it. Hope to be better in time for legs tomorrow.
yeah I always work out when I`m sick, it`s hard to push yourself to go but once you get there you know you made the right choice unless it`s the flu or something I always work out with the cold or a cough, makes me feel better

i hate you VQ
Are 6 sets of pull-ups with many different grips enough for the lats?
not sure if srs..
I mean things like rows and lat pulldowns. Deadlift works your lower back and legs mostly, not your lats and upper back.
Are 6 sets of pull-ups with many different grips enough for the lats?
Quoting because bottom of page
Quoting because bottom of page
Depends on your goals. A lot of factors buddy. Also, pull up in my opinion is like most compound exercises - if you have a stronger body part, you'll need to exhaust it in order to be able to use most of your target muscle. For example, if I try and bench press and keep my chest growing, and I have strong triceps, I might need to exhaust 'em to get the full effect on my chest. Everybody's different, you might want to try stuff for yourself. Take me for example, I hated pullups, and yet I got motherfuckin' huge traps. My best body part if you ask anybody around.
You know, I woke up today and looked at myself realized how much better a person I am than before I started lifting over a year ago. I was such a pussy, I couldn't do any athletic or strong without looking like an idiot, I had basically no self confidence. Everything is different now, I can't imagine what I would be like if I hadn't decided to go start lifting with my friends for just "1 day to see what its like"

If I'm 5" tall and growing, is it a bad idea to start lifting weights?
Proper weight lifting does not stunt growth. So no, but you should always try to maintain 'perfect'-form. Do some research to already existing routines, find some exercises and study them a bit.
If I'm 5" tall and growing, is it a bad idea to start lifting weights?
Nope. Also 5 foot? How old are you?
Nope. Also 5 foot? How old are you?
15
How many times a week? I want to maximize the size of my lats as much as possible in this 3 month timespan I still have to bulk
I only do once a week but once again i climb and stuff. You could try working them twice a week and see how that goes. [editline]27th January 2011[/editline]
not sure if srs..
Lower back is completely different from upper back.
Just modified my split into a 5-day split because 6-day splits seem to get a lot of criticism. Shoulders and Tris will be on one day now.
Got sick, can barely breath due to nose/throat. I hate this. I've used like 300 hankies already (10 times each).
If I'm 5" tall and growing, is it a bad idea to start lifting weights?
Weight lifting doesn't slow or stop growth, it encourages it. [editline]27th January 2011[/editline] here is a post I made in the workout thread, copying it over because that thread seems to get much less traffic and these topics are very popular with bodybuilders/weightlifiters, and often untrue things go around concerning this stuff, so i thought this would be a very contributory post.
i pretty much have no idea on height gaining, maybe you could talk to your doctor about getting growth hormones. I had a friend who did that shit and he grew a couple inches, i don't know if there are any bad side affects or anything though.
HGH is something you supplement if your body actually lacks it. If you take it and you aren't short (we're talking like 5'4 at 18yo) then you will shorten your life, weaken your bones permanently, and more. It could even kill you in your sleep. Doctors will usually not give it to you if you are not lacking it. The problem is most people don't know this and they tell their friends they got treatment with HGH and their friends wanna do it too. The doctor tells them no or something but they get it done anyway... bad things happen HGH is told to build in your body when you eat good amounts (eating a lot will not work and you might actually suppress its build) of nutritious stuff. If you don't eat good when you're a kid you'll lack height later in life because child and pubertal development is development that, once it ends, you will never have that kind of development again unless you keep your testosterone up for your whole life (Taking supplements will shut down production and literally substitute it so that your body produces more estrogen which we all know what that shit does to you). Another note on estrogen since I know everyone thinks it's the devil's wine for men. It's in everything you eat, so don't try and avoid consumption. It's in tap water and water bottles. It's even in sea water if you've bothered cured it. Luckily, it doesn't mix in with your body, and even if it did, it wouldn't be enough to even do anything to your body, let alone make your penis or testicles smaller. This post wasn't directly to you Binsky but a general reminder to all that HGH really is a killer. HGH isn't in your body a lot and supplementing it can really fuck you up. I'm not joking. If the doctor says no, then you don't use it. He is the doctor. Not you. [editline]26th January 2011[/editline]
When you lose weight, what happens to the excess skin? I'm short of that helps, but I think I'm about to hit the growth stage of puberty.
The skin will eventually tighten back to your body. 10 pounds won't really do much since your age. I'm 16 and lost 70+ lbs since March of last year, still going for 10 more pounds and maybe another 10 after that, I just need to slim out all the way. I have barely any stretch marks at an athletic level of body fat. Skin's like elastic. As you age its elasticity decreases. To keep it elastic stretch often - stretching is also important pre-workout and flexing is something to do often if you wanna get tough because it sends nutrients to your muscles via blood. That's why when you work out you gotta breath smooth, easy, and level, because your muscles need oxygen to rip shit up, and oxygen is transported in your blood A cool tip is to crane your head straight up and try to jut your jaw out. It's a workout for your vocal cords and it will deepen your voice without making you sound like a raspy smoker drill sergeant. You will get a cool smooth deep voice. To lose fat you wanna increase your metabolism to go from endomorph to ecto-meso like I have. Eat 5-6 small meals a day via meals every 2 and a half or 3 hours, between there. This keeps your metabolism chugging. And when you've got food to process, testosterone is running smooth too. For fat loss eat .8 grams of protein per kg of body weight and for muscle gain to 1 gram per kg. IDK what that converts to it's math and knuckleheads like me don't do math so please help me with this conversion. Eat more protein than that and you will 1) pee it out or if you're eating way too much you will 2) get fatter [editline]26th January 2011[/editline] And don't supplement funny shit like Nitric Oxide or Creatine. Don't matter if you get gains in muscle and burn fat. The reason people take it is because doctors don't know their downsides. Well, that's the reason people took steroids long ago when doctors didn't study it. They didn't know it'd fuck you up. Now they're paying for it. [editline]26th January 2011[/editline] only supplements you should take are protein shakes and that should be like pre- or post-workout pre-workout supplements give you more energy post-workout supplements fuel your gains afterwards supplements being food especially carbs protein and calories. ok im done typing
15
Wait until 16 or 17 so that you don't fuck any of your joints up since they're still developing.
Sup boys just weighed myself and I am 149-150. I went from no weight gains to 9 pounds in like a short period. And my abs are more visible than ever so I'm guessing a lot of my gains are muscle. Onward to 160.
I worked back+abs today instead of legs+abs because frankly i currently dont give a flying dick about my legs. My back is absolutely useless right now fffuuuu [editline]28th January 2011[/editline] Also 167.5lbs [editline]28th January 2011[/editline] Gonna be so happy when I hit 170. Fuck
Wall of text
No offense but most of the stuff you said is broscience please if someone reads this do not take it seriously Since I know I will get raged at if I don`d to this, here are some specifics WRONG:Taking supplements will shut down production and literally substitute it so that your body produces more estrogen which we all know what that shit does to you` By supplements I assume you mean steroids. When you take them, your body`s natural testosterone production shuts off because it is unneeded due to the already high levels. When you are done your steroid cycle, you have to do PCT, which restores your levels to normal. The only reason estrogen levels increase is NOT because your body produces more, but because excess testosterone often gets converted into estrogen (gyno, lol) WRONG:To lose fat you wanna increase your metabolism to go from endomorph to ecto-meso like I have You can`t really change your metabolism to a significant degree. You stay what you are. You have not changed your metabolism, once you start eating a lot and trying to get muscle you will understand this. WRONG:And don't supplement funny shit like Nitric Oxide or Creatine. Don't matter if you get gains in muscle and burn fat. The reason people take it is because doctors don't know their downsides. Well, that's the reason people took steroids long ago when doctors didn't study it. They didn't know it'd fuck you up. Now they're paying for it. Creatine is one of the most tested supplements out there. Doctors don`t know very much about supplements because they`re not nutritionists. Go ask your doctor about protein supps, they`ll tell you that it`s awful and you should never take it. They are not dieticians or nutritionists so they don`t know that much about this. Saying that, there have been numerous studies done on creatine. Nitric Oxide can give you low blood pressure (expansion of blood vessels due to increase in blood flow when taking it), but creatine, as long as it is used properly, has been filtered correctly, etc. has not really been shown to have any negatives. And dude, please, PLEASE don`t talk about steroids if you don`t have the slightest clue, seriously: They didn't know it'd fuck you up. Now they're paying for it Most (if not all) Mr. Olympia winners are still alive and kickin` and they all used steroids. You just have to use them right, in proper form, in proper amounts and with proper PCT. How do steroids `fuck you up` when taken properly? Sure there are some side effects but really they are not as bad as you make them sound, but then again you are comparing a synthetic injection of testosterone to have the same side effects as creatine....
Creatine more like STEROIDS. [editline]28th January 2011[/editline] Whey protein more like STEROIDS [editline]28th January 2011[/editline] Multivitamin more like STEROIDS [editline]28th January 2011[/editline] Binsky more like STEROIDS
15
Working out before 16 is usually discouraged, it puts tremendous pressure on joints and plates. Just do bodyweight exercises for a bit. Pullups, chinups, widegrip pullups, dips, pushups are all awesome and very useful. But of course that`s just my 0.02, you can do whatever you feel is right. Just research it on google a bit more since it`s a big popular subject. [editline]28th January 2011[/editline]
Are 6 sets of pull-ups with many different grips enough for the lats?
how many reps are you doing per set if you can do 6 sets??
