I've been doing a compound workout for the last 3 weeks. It's a 2 day split that I do Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. I've definitely seen a lot of improvement in my physique and strength. I haven't used any protein yet.
I'm thinking about starting Isolation workouts and adding protein and more cardio
You can still make strengh gains while maintaining the same amount of muscle- why not maximize the muscle you get instead of just getting the bare minimum?
You need protein. When you workout, you need more. Plain and simple.
Oh and btw I work full time in the summer and part time during the year and probably make a year what you make in 3.
/rant lol

Also, there is a difference between 'eating enough' and 'eating to maximize potential'
[editline]11th February 2011[/editline]
Yeah dude, that happened to me pretty fast like 2 weeks ago
I was gaining weight and strength, but size just started coming on one week and during that week I gained the least weight but the most size
it was weird
but cool

They`re not bad, I guess. If you`re only having one a day it`s easier, healthier and cheaper to just get mixed nuts, you`ll get more protein and calories (and fats, but whatever)
You didn't just compare your time to mine.. bad idea, mate.
Also, on topic,
Who said I am / or preaching for the bare minimum? I am preaching for people to stop with protein shakes. Trust in the meat you can purchase and consume instead of drink.
Yes, protein drinks are convinenet, but jeusus, you guys aren't even close to what you should call pro. Why the hell are you on N.O Explodes, shakes and 50 thousand more products put in yourself instead of just training, using the basics and growing big. That's not the only issue, you're consuming in ways you naturally are meant to. Just read the goddamn Feed the muscle, Burn the fat. Will change your way of thinking. One out of a few ebooks I read in my life, that I trust fully.
Also, you're correct about the strength and physical muscle gains. But, I'm not preaching to eat less, rather change your main diet from liquid to solid. Puting trust upon those products is idiotic. Every fucking person on earth who starts bodybuilding gets protein shakes. You guys are all about extra calories, right? How hard is it to make a sandwhich with 20p in it? I'll eat that shit in 5 seconds. Stop bullshitting me about having no time. You got some cash, buy some uneeded protein and think the world changed.
Furthermore, you can't possibly know your max potenial. We humans don't even fully understand the process of Protein Syntesis and carb consuming. How can you claim to know your max potenial? The max you know, is that some dude gave you a formula, and you're going by it.
What's your indication of eating enough? Getting fat, 1-2lb a week/2weeks? Is that a good enough indication you're eating enough? Who the hell made that rule? Your information is lacking. READ THE EBOOK.
"You can still make strengh gains while maintaining the same amount of muscle- why not maximize the muscle you get instead of just getting the bare minimum? " - So, if I do Strength and Hypertrophy inducing workouts, and get stronger with each workout I experience, I need to eat more, because strength and size are 2 different things? If my strength gains are going up, I need to eat more, because it's an indication of strength and not size? The only proper indication I see, is when I workout, I got stronger while doing Hypertrophy, which means I got enough protein in my opinion.
Nontheless, you guys are also correct. I am not neglecting PS at all. Just wanting people to be less lazy and make their own food. Trusting in something you shouldn't naturally, contradicts somewhat the fact you're naturally bodybuilding. It all goes down to the basics - Food, compounds and sleep. If you really need it, then fuck what I say and buy it. Just giving my 50000 cents about the trend that's goin' on.

No, from my own personal opinion and experiences. Read it, and die happy rather than looking for holes.
I've got to start consuming carbohydrates while doing long runs, to avoid losing muscle mass.
E: I'm not trying to burn fat.
I'm currently in France, staying at a hotel and heard they had a gym, so I head down there.
They have a bench and a barbell w/ weights and shitloads of running machines and shit. They don't even have any dumbbells. I just did bench press and barbell curls and left because I was angry at how shitty it was. Do you have any suggestions on what upper body exercises I can do with bench and barbell? (no legs, I don't want to be tired after working out when I go ski)
Are you serious? Most of what I do is with a damn lonesome barbell.
Define upper body. Tons of excercises you can do, tell me what you want to focus on. Basically, just slap the weights on, and work whatever muscle you want. Barbell fits all.

wat
I haven't exercised in so long. I decided to try the 100 push-up plan thing. I can do a decent set of press ups, but when recovering the main problem seems to be my abdominals, not my arms.
Like I'm supposed to do a set every other day, but I can't because my abdominals take like 4 days to recover.
Will they speed up and is there anything I can do now to make them speed up recovery faster? Possibly something dietary?
It's annoying because I'm trying to do squats, pushups, situps and pullups, but I can't do both situps and pushups.

I read that your core is the only muscle group you can exercise everyday
But I know what you mean, the pain I get in my abs sometime the day after a good workout pretty much stops me from working out, the only thing you can do to try and help it is drink lots of water, and stretch out your core before and after working out

Shoulder press, bench, curls, skullcrushers, wrist curls, shoulder thing which I forgot what it`s called (you hold the bar in your hands, they are in front of you all the way down, then you lift it up by bending your elbow and keeping your hands right in front of your body), also shoulder raises, rows, deadlifts, and squats

Because, `training, using the basics, and growing big` is pretty much impossible without supplementation. Every person who is jacked, big, etc. has used one supplement or another (more likely that they used multiple). It`s hard to get the protein you need from everyday food, especially when you are cutting. Supplements help you maximize your gains and this is a proven fact.

So you're lifting as an unnatural bodybuilder? I see. Well, fuck me, I believe the impossible. At your point and even at mine, it is not needed. I bet my jewish ass on the fact you'd grow big even without them.

i did 5 sets of squats 5 sets of deads and a 2 minute planche with 4 friends while we tossed a 15lb medicine ball around and did 5 sets of 10 oblique twist things with it before we dropped down. You aint got shit on me.

I am a natural bodybuilder, by definition AND by blood tests. I have never used hormone supplements, and that makes me natural. Protein supplements are natural too, you can get protein from meat, fish, etc. and from protein shakes, all of those ways are natural.
You cannot get synthetic testosterone from normal food, so that is why steroids are not supplements.
I probably would grow big without them, but at a slower rate and I would be smaller than with them. Idk what you are even talking about, all I take is protein lol, its just an easy way to get it into your diet without having to eat more food. You are making it sound like steroids.

What is unnatural about protein supplementation? It's simply easier than eating a fuckshit ton of protein but it could easily be done "naturally"

Umad I did my squats for 5 sets of 225 and deads for 5 sets of 300
Then I went rock climbing
am I cool now Binsky
our university has a rock climbing wall, shit was pretty cash until I almost sprained my finger cause I went all the way to the top, swung my legs off and started doing chinups, then realised I suck at rock climbing
If VQ wasn't natural he would be fucking huge right now because of his diet
