Not a big poster here but could use some advice. I've got a decent programme going and my diet is pretty good, 6 medium meals a day, plenty of protein and plenty of sleep. I go to weigh myself at the gym today and I've lost 2 pounds in the last 2 weeks! I'm 180lbs, 6' exactly and have very little bodyfat. There's not that much I can do in the way of eating as it already costs me a small fortune in food as it is. What foods are the best bang for buck? Chicken, salmon and eggs don't seem to be doing the trick. I'm already on protein supplements, might get back on the creatine but never saw huge results on it. I've been neglecting my legs for a looooong time so I reckon I'm gonna start hitting the legs hard and I should see an easy 10lbs there, same with the shoulders too but how else can I get out of this plateau?
Working legs will help a lot, legs encompass a shit ton of muscle. Eating-wise with good bang for your buck, you should try maybe eating eggs, peanut butter, lentils, spinach, more peanut butter, nuts, etc. [editline]25th February 2011[/editline]
I don't like peanuts... Or cheese :frown:
That's somewhat of a problem. How about milk?
you must have been pretty athletic before you started?
Nein, I was 130lb skinnyfat [editline]25th February 2011[/editline] Btw binsky what is the circumference of your hips?
oh what :D that's good to hear [editline]25th February 2011[/editline] gives me some more, what's the word [editline]25th February 2011[/editline] just good to know it's possible brah
I don't like peanuts... Or cheese :frown:
Almond butter. It's supposed to be healthier, too. Same goes for sunflower seed butter.
I've been thinking about quitting eating candy and drinking soda, the thing is that I'm not overweight or anything. I actually need to gain some weight. So I wondered, will I gain more weight by quitting on candy and soda, and eat more healthier?
the less shit food you eat, the more you will be hungry and the more you will be able to snack on healthy food, which= more progress instead of candy, snack on cashews or almonds instead of soda, have some milk [editline]25th February 2011[/editline]
this may be a retarded question but you're doing this with one arm then you swap to the other, right? [editline]25th February 2011[/editline] off to my job, manual labour workout ftw
for concentration curls I do them one at a time with my elbow on my leg, but sometimes I just stand up with both dumbbells in each of my hands and take turns curling them, and fuark yeah, i do landscaping in the summer, shits good for keeping your strength [editline]25th February 2011[/editline]
I need to get my bodyfat%, where's the best place to go?
for all the guys asking for bodyfat: there are certain techniques to estimate your bodyfat like measuring certain bodyparts but they are still inaccurate most of the time, really the best place is to get it professionally tested, we can have a "guess your bodyfat" thread though just for shits and giggles [editline]25th February 2011[/editline]
also i saw zyzz's bro, chestbrah, and his aesthetics crew in the carlingford shops the other day. fuaark.
fuaarrrrrrrkkkk how swole were they brah [editline]25th February 2011[/editline]
Not a big poster here but could use some advice. I think you should still do it in v2
I would love to get some advice here. I've been doing fitness every sunday, 2 hours for 1/2 a year now. I am still not satisfied with the result and the people I fitness with have way better result. I admit I don't eat that healthy, but I find it hard to actually eat 6 small meals, and in the meantime keep track of all the calories, proteins etc. I've also been quite sleep deprivated recently. Can someone help me with putting up some kind of schedule of what to do weekly, and/or give me some advice? I hope someone can help me.
What are your goals?
I think you should still do it in v2
K I`ll just remove the stats part since there`s a thread for that here`s the new name: Bodybuilding/weightlifting/working out discussions and questions thread v2 yes/no
How about Weightlifting/Bodybuilding Thread V2 - Something witty here that I can't think of right now [editline]25th February 2011[/editline] ignore that second part of the title

No matter how hard you go, it is just not enough working out. As long as you eat moderately healthy, you shall see results, but you need to work out AT LEAST 3-4 times a week regularly.
What are your goals?
Lose weight, a more muscled upper body, feeling comfortable when taking my shirt off basically.
How about Weightlifting/Bodybuilding Thread V2 - Something witty here that I can't think of right now [editline]25th February 2011[/editline] ignore that second part of the title
Weightlifting/Bodybuilding Thread V2- discussions and questions here the only reason I put the second part is so people know that this is the place for questions
Lose weight, a more muscled upper body, feeling comfortable when taking my shirt off basically.
Decide which to do first, You won't really build muscle while losing fat, but you can lose fat then bulk back up with fat AND muscle then cut the fat down again. You will need to lift weights more than once a week though.
Alright, So I'll be going to the gym on sundays, tuesdays and thursdays (can change because of school) and try to walk/run outside every night, and I got some weights here at home and I can do some exercises. I don't think my eating is really the problem, but I sit alot behind the PC. Need to do that less.
So does protein powder actually work? I've been using it for like a month now, and I have no idea if I've gained anything.

Calorie count and figure out how much you SHOULD be eating
So does protein powder actually work? I've been using it for like a month now, and I have no idea if I've gained anything.
Protein powder only works if: -you are working out hard -your muscles are rebuilding themselves and the amount of protein you get usually is not enough Protein powder is just protein. You need ABOUT 1 g of protein per day per pound of bodyweight (different sources will disagree but this is the most commoinly believed one) for working out Realistically if you are eating a good healthy diet you should be getting anywhere from 100-150g a day from just normal foods, so one or two shakes a day, depending on how much you need, can help you out. Don`t go to overboard on the protein, anything more than 1 or 2 scoops a day is most likely unnecessary. It is very beneficial to have if you workout regularly. Also, eat healthier and less (if you want to lose weight). What are your stats right now? (height and weight)
Found one of those great food calculators. I'm missing a lot in my current diet. [editline]25th February 2011[/editline] I am around 170cm and 70kg. To be on the save side let's say 175cm.

I feel I have quite a stomach. I'm not comfortable posting a picture but compared to my groin region my stomach sticks out around 1,5CM. Also, when I flatten my stomach to around the ideal size my ribcage sticks out quite alot. Not sure if that's normal.

You are not overweight but you do have flab which is hard to get rid of. Lost of people are like this. Really, the best thing to do, would be to try to gain weight by gaining a bit of muscle, then lose the fat. If you just cut down right now, you will lose all your fat but you will just be scrawny. So do you want JUST abs or do you want a proportioned physique?
