explain?
Beginner question here.
When doing Pushups/Situps, is it better to just do all of them in one set? Or do a few, rest, do some more, rest, etc.?

Do multiple sets, but don't do a 'few', these bodyweight exercises are pretty easy to get good at so once you're doing like 50 or something just do 3 sets of 40 or something like that.

Thanks.
Thanks.
Remember that there are always variations you can do for bodyweight exercises, try to switch it up. Like decline push ups, wide grips pushups, T (close grip) pushups, etc.
The pathetic fatass here again.
I'll be beginning a workout and nutrition plan on monday. Hopefully I can keep up my motivation as the amount of food I need to eat is pretty insane compared to what I usually eat (meaning much more than I usually do).
It's a modified p90x (yes, I can hear you all gasp NO, not that you idiot!), but I really need to do something different than usually as I get extremely bored unless I get a lot of variety.

What does your new nutrition plan consist of? Oh and I don't think anyone has anything bad to say about p90x really, I've heard lots of good things about it as a way of losing weight and getting more defined. Tell us how it goes.
Well, I'll be following the p90x nutrition plan mostly. Since I'm so overweight, I'm in the class III stage, which means quite a lot of food for me to consume (3000 calories) daily. Basically I'm planning on downing 500 grams of meat and 300 grams of tuna each day, with 1,5 liters of salad (1l leaf 0,5 cucumber, tomato etc.). Then there's 1,5 dl rice and porridge made out of 1 dl oats and milk products (1 liter of milk for example, or maybe 0,5 liters of milk and 2,5 of cottage cheese and 85g of normal nearly fatless cheese), two slices of rye bread, 1 tbsp of olive oil, some mustard, 160 grams of nuts and probably more that I forgot and need to check again. Oh yeah, a banana and an apple.
what

Looks like you got it all figured out. Good luck.
Are there any good dumbbell exercises for the back?
also why the fuck is this on page 2/3

Dead lifts and single arm rows.
I play college football for Tennessee, my max bench for one is 275 pounds. Top that.
i go to UT. My max bench is 250. I might have seen you at the trecs
Got a new PR in deadlift on Friday, 445, 40+ lbs from my old max of 405.
Senior year of highschool.
age:17
weight:150
max bench : 225 ^^
Whats is the difference of your weight to your max bench?
Weight: 350 (bluh)
Max bench: 120 last I checked, but I've been working out on 115, so higher.
You bench the same as what I can dead lift (last I checked)

Yeah single arm rows are pretty good. Also, reverse dumbbell flies work shoulders but also a bit of back I think.

Awesome! Deadlifts are by far my favourite to set PR's in, but whenever I do I'm pretty much shitting my pants for the time before I do it.
Here's a video of a guy passing out after maxing deadlifts.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8RcDb_wZfQ
Oh and I'm getting pretty close to my bulking goal of 175 pounds, only a month or so and I'll start cutting!
that's exactly what I told my friend!

Watching 2 documentaties on steroids right now, one's "bigger stronger faster" and the other is a national geographic one. I think it's a pretty interesting topic since I recently found out such a high percentage of people that workout in America use steroids, it's ridiculous. I would never do them
Bigger Stronger Faster is an excellent documentary, except with one major flaw. There's a section where they talk to Greg "the man who's arms exploded" Valentino about "steroids". Problem is, they never stopped to point out Valentino wasn't using anabolic steroids, he was using a synthetic injectable oil called Synthol.
Is peanut butter good for bulking?

Yeah I noticed that too, I remember when I first learned about synthol...ew
The worst part is, when he was natural he looked like he was doing pretty good
Is peanut butter good for bulking?
Yep, make some peanut butter sandwiches, maybe with a banana or something. Awesome snack for bulking.
Is peanut butter good for bulking?
Dude it's calories on calories, of course it's good.
I put it in protein shakes with milk sometimes too. PB chocolate protein blast, what up mafuka.
Yeah, PB is a great bulking food.
I've eliminated it since I'm trying to lose mass in fat and increase my lean body weight.
Trying to get more lean meats in, and eggs look like they have a good calorie-protein ratio (6 grams of protein for 80 calories), even if they have lots of cholesterol. Skim milk is pretty good too, 9 grams of protein for 90 calories and it has good calcium.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Just to clarify here for those of you who are less knowledgeable on the matter, he's removed it because it's calorically dense, NOT because it's mostly fat.
Dietary fat =/= bodyfat.
So don't be scared of that mafukin PB. Get a spoon, bitch.
So I started running today, only to find I can only run about 1/4 to 1/2 of a mile straight.
I am so disappoint :ohdear:
Instead of taking protein just turn carnivore.

I gotta start making protein shakes again. I only workout at the university now and I just mix the water with the protein powder, before I would make a fucking extravaganza of taste in the blender: bananas, milk, protein powder, berries, hell yeah
[editline]26th October 2010[/editline]
But now I can't really do that unless I wait like 6 hours after my workout to have protein :(

Yeah, PB is a great food for bulking up. Lots of protein and calories to gain your muscle mass. I'm trying to lost fat since I'm in no short supply so I've been trying to get more protein through eggs, milk, and lean meats since they're pretty good on the calorie-protein ratio. (A large egg has about 6g protein and 80 calories, while 2 tbsp of peanut butter has 6g protein and 200 calories)

Holy shit that sounds fucking good.
I'm considering trying out whey protein supplements, but both my sisters, and my dad say that the best way to get protein is through smart eating. It's annoying to wake up at 5:30 in the morning so that I can make my hardboiled eggs and oatmeal though.

You gotta get all the protein you can from everyday things, and for all the rest there is protein powder. By no means should it replace your meals but it's a great way to supplement. Oh, and aren't eggs kind of high in fat?
Somewhat, but I'm not shoveling them in my mouth like some guys who weight train (fucking 6 eggs every morning? Wow).
I have 2-3 in the morning (4 if I'm really hungry) with a small packet of oatmeal with a glass of skim milk.
