Nah it's fine, I survive easily, muscle isn't deteriorating at all. My meals consist of... 6am Morning Walk Morning: Pumpkin Cereal Soup + Green Tea = 150 calories (I take 250mg of calcium citrate because I have cut off all dairy) Noon: Fruit Smoothie (Pineapple, orange, peaches) few blocks away from work + 250mg Calcium Citrate = 280 calories (Sometimes I will treat myself to Jimmie Johns and get roast beef, tomatoes and lettuce on whole wheat.) 6-8pm Workout Night: One of the below. Muscle Milk Light Post Workout = 200 calories Small Portion Grilled Chicken + Veggies = About 250 calories Turkey wrapped in lettuce = About 180 calories Garden Salad = About 80 calories and of course my 250mg of calcium x2. Yeah I know it's a pretty crazy diet but it works for me. Lost about 32lbs in a month and 50 over about 3 months at one point. For my workout I do a light jog for 30 minutes keeping my BPM about 120-130 for optimal fat loss. Then once I get home it's 1 hour on free weights. I exercise a core muscle group every day. Then ab routine twice a week for 15 minutes. Once I get down to my goal weight then I can start back to work on eating healthy but I have to start real slow so my body doesn't pack it back on easily. Also I am serious about my cousin eating like a pig and not gaining a lb, he was even on 2000 calorie weight gainer shakes at one point and gained maybe 3lbs in a month. As for me, my job keeps me on my ass ALL day. So I don't have much of an appetite, problem is I will eat like 1500 calories and then not do anything to try and burn it off so it will settle. That's why I have decided to just keep my caloric intake very low. Eventually I will get back to normal eating habits.
so you're saying you don't consume anything with calories from noon to 8? dude, you are going to completely fuck up your body, although 32lbs in a month is amazing it's not very healthy, especially since you're at such a deficit...why not eat more, but workout more as well?
Doubt you have much muscle to begin with if you're not seeing muscle loss on 800 calories. You'd be better off fasting for a week, believe it or not. Extreme caloric deficits always suck ass.
This is a waste of time. Eating right and jogging are enough to keep you healthy, and the reasons people give for why they want to go "beyond healthy" are bullshit. If a woman won't date a man who isn't muscular, she's probably insecure and shallow.
I basically want to work my chest. It's completely flat. If I put my arms down and flex it, it's okay, but really not much to brag about.. I weigh 132 and an 5'11 I have 1 10lb dumbell and was wondering what exercises I could do and how many sets/reps in between. Also would like to know how long to rest in between. also, my biceps and triceps need work as well, mention some exercises for that (they're not flabby, they so of have a peapod shape, but my left arm is fucking embarassing. Thanks >:D
Shit, and here I am wanting to lose muscle. 16 year olds, 186 cm and 92 kg (202 pounds).
so you're saying you don't consume anything with calories from noon to 8?
Pretty much. It's there, it's just too visible because of the fat. Which is why I just want to lose the fat first then I can concentrate on toning. People say it's unhealthy but I have had no issues or side effects yet. I can still lift large and have had no issues with my body. My endurance has actually increased and I feel like I have more energy. I believe if I don't consume enough energy then my body will just find it elsewhere, I have plenty of reserve. Eventually I will go back to eating regularly once I get down to about 220. But I would have to start real slow so my body doesn't store it all.
holy shit, went to the gym with a couple friends wednesday, worked the shit out of my arms and chest, lost pretty much all range of motion due to pain since then. So I went to GNC and got some amplified recovery shit, my first time ever getting a supplement. How the fuck are you supposed to get 3 scoops of powder in 12oz of liquid? And fuck powdered water, i'm using milk.

If you can invest in more weights or a gym membership i highly recommend it. [editline]30th October 2010[/editline]
This is a waste of time. Climbing, for example, takes a large amount of upper body and core strength. Tennis take a lot of fast twitch muscles in your legs to be more mobile on the court and less endurance like you would get from running. It's also been statistically proven that people who weight lift live longer and healthier than people who don't. Oh what the fuck My bis just seem to get weaker and weaker after each workout session.. And all I do with them is Dumbbell Bicep Curls. I do give them enough rest (4-5 days) so I have really no idea what the fuck is happening.

Still waiting on pics of OP.

Me on the other hand, I'll enjoy actually looking like a man, getting to eat great quality food, and benefiting from increased testosterone, strength and athletic performance.

Training since Xmas, haven't been able to train my shoulders for nearly 2 months since picking up an injury playing Rugby and tearing my rotator cuff. It's starting to feel better and should hopefully start on the shoulders again soon as you can tell they've dropped a lot of muscle. Taking protein supplements, creatine, amino acids and tribulus. Working well for my so far. Another year or so and I should reach my 14 stone target, currently 12.5 stone. Meh, everyone's gotta start somewhere... Would probably put on lean weight faster if I did less cardio but I play on the wing in Rugby so gotta keep my pace up. It seemed like a good idea at the time (17), huge mistake now, hoping to get it covered up before next summer.
Instead of constantly recommending ketosis, i'll just give you a link to an article. http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/keto.htm -Increases the body's ability to utilize fats for fuel -Blunts hunger in many people -Not much muscle loss -Inefficient energy source
Every reduced calorie diet is Catabolic, meaning that they can cause you to lose muscle. It's a fact! This is largely due to the fact that on a reduced calorie diet many of the anabolic hormones in the body are significantly reduced. Added to that most dieters do copious amounts of aerobic exercise when dieting which is a very good way to catabolize muscle. So the main thing we can try to do is lose the least amount of muscle possible when dieting, or even possibly rebuild lost tissue, which is where the carb-up comes in. But that will not be discussed in this chapter. Other than hormonal reasons the main reason why catabolism occurs is because protein will be broken down, or catabolized, to make glucose. This is because the brain uses a boat load of glycogen, upwards of 25% of the body's glucose. Now when carbohydrates are restricted, the body will still need glucose for the brain, so it is forced to breakdown protein mostly from your own muscle tissue. Now, ketosis is different because when in the state of ketosis the brain will prefer ketones over glucose. For the dieter this is very good because the body will not have to break down protein for energy. In turn the body will be forced to use its fat reserves, a.k.a. your love handles, for its energy. This is why ketosis is such a good method of dieting.
Eh ketosis is kind of shitty bro. It has it's benefits but it also has major drawbacks. That said if you're insisting on getting shredded it's infinitely better than trying to cut bodyfat with high carbs. Just to settle this matter for everyone right now: No, there is no magic diet that will allow you to stuff your face with tasty food and not put on an ounce of bodyfat. Fact is: too many calories = yo ass gettin fatter. It doesn't matter were those calories come from, be it protein, fats or carbohydrates, it's just that alot of people will find high carbs will pile on the fat faster. Some people have insane insulin sensitivity and actual get leaner on high carbs.

Did you get your torn rotator cuff operated on? If you didn't, you better do it now. It's a long 8 month recovery (I know 7 people who torn their rotator cuffs) and you're not gonna be able to lift shit, better get it done now while you're young. My dad had to get it at at 35 and it sucked fat bull balls.
If youre too hard on the cardio youll burn too many calories and begin to strip fat as well as muscle. Havent had it operated on. Id be stuck without my car if I did as insurance wont cover you in a cast. Its improving now so Il just see how it goes. If its still bad in a month then il get it looked at.

Guys, any of you ever done calisthenics? I think I'm going to do it a few times a week now. Met some guy at the gym who does some crazy bodyweight shit, he's ripped to shit and I just think it's impressive to see all the things he does, like upside down dips (yes, that's right lol). [editline]1st November 2010[/editline] Guys, I'm starting my cut next week, what are some good cutting foods? ^Good cutting foods: Whole wheat breads, Egg whites, Skim Milk, Protein Powder, Lean meats(Roast beef, Turkey, Chicken), Fruit, Veggies, Certain Cereals, Pasta, etc. In the long run, you want to limit fats and simple carbs, while ingesting a lot of protein and complex carbs. Right now I weigh 180 at 6'2". Believe it or not, my back is actually one of my stronger points and my shoulders aren't that big. I just practice posing quite a bit, so I know how to compliment my physique pretty well. Thanks though man.
I wish I could drop bodyfat... I just love food too damn much!
