I did the same today but 10 of them. Then I did 10 of (not sure what they're called) holding my legs straight out while doing pull ups. And dips too. What's the most dips you all can do? I collapse at 27.
fuck, I started doing those thing holding your legs at 90 degrees to your body and that shit hurts if you do enough of them
oh and I can do 30 if it`s my first set

i haven't done weighted pull ups in a long time. I may try some next time i do back.
Dammit I never said that was all I did. And I'm not going for build, believe it or not. Unlike the rest of you. I have a balanced workout that works my entire upper body. I do know how to work out.
I don't think you can do too many sets.
dude i have balanced workouts that work my whole body. i value strength more then build, but i am still looking to get big because i like having big muscles. and no you don't know how to workout you fruit, stop acting like you do.
and yes, you can do too many sets.
[editline]9th November 2010[/editline]
Does that really happen? Never seen/heard/been warned of that happening.

Googled it, and I can only find people that have torn their pec by benching too much weight.
you're an idiot. get out of this thread.
Hurt my knee 5 weeks back so I can't squat but I can still do deadlifts for the moment.
So yeah, started Bill Star's progressive 5x5 routine with my big lifts and so far so good.
I'm changing my workout plan again because i'm finding i don't have enough energy to do 3 muscle groups a day and i want to fit in more exercises per group, so i wanna know if this is a good idea.
Here's how i had it before; i split my muscle groups into 2 day types, using the gym 5 days a week. (abs go in any day)
Day 1: Chest (6 exercises), Shoulders (5 exercises), Triceps (4 exercises)
Day 2: Biceps + Forearms (5 exercises), Back (5 exercises), Legs (6 exercises)
I want to change it to something like this.
Day 1: Shoulders (8-10 exercises), Legs (8 exercises)
Day 2: Back (8 exercises), Biceps + Forearms (9 exercises)
Day 3: Chest (10 exercises), Triceps (8 exercises)
also should i use the gym 6 days week with this, or just stick to 5?
fuck I can barely go 3 days a week
Hallo.
When i do my back, then i cant feel any kind of streaching at all. I feel like i am not working out my back when i actually doing exercise that incudes back exercise. I am putting more and more weight, but it is the same. I have always a partner when i am working out, the funny thing is that he can feel his back is streaching and he feels tired. We do the same exercise, but different weight. I do not have the problems when i do my shoulders or bisceps.
Information:
20 years old
Weight: 102 kg / 224,4 pounds
Height: 195 cm / 6 feet and 4.77 inches
2 years of workout
Working out:
-Monday: Chest, Triceps and Neck
-Tuesday: Day Off
-Wednesday: Back, Shoulders and Biceps (Leg)
-Thursday: Day Off
-Friday: Chest, Triceps and Neck
-Saturday: Day Off
-Sunday: Day Off
Sorry, my english aint that good. :(
fuck I can barely go 3 days a week
3 days seems like the minimum. you will end up seeing fairly slow progress if you only use the gym twice a week, unless of course you work your face off.
it helps to have motivation. i have an older brother who's reinforced like a tank so he motivates me a fair bit.
Plan on running a 5k this winter.
I plan on making this winter my bitch.
I need different effective workouts for my arms, chest, and hopefully legs. I've been working out for like 3 months and taking whey protein and I'm seeing some results for my arms, but not really for my chest. Maybe it's cause I have fat on my belly area. I need a way to lose this more. I was thinking of doing little strength training exercises and do more cardio and like run more rather than lifting weights. Any suggestions? I got about 5 times a week, rest on the weekends.

if you want to lose weight rapidly, cardio
I hope to god I didn't pull anything doing those wacky jacks! My back has now been fine for three days.

dude those are word for word the EXACT workouts I did, I did the first one then just recently switched to the second one
the second way works better but only if you go very frequently, like almost each day per week
Do chin-ups work/affect your pecs?
Because yesterday I had my chest day and now my pecs are sore and they of course need to rest, but I really want to retry chin-ups too.
-snip-
Forget it. SickJits is right and I am wrong.

Do the fucking chinups brah.
Technically they will place some stress on the pecs, since almost every muscle works in unison on high loads, but you could say the same about any exercise, e.g bicep curls working your abs. At any rate, it's not enough to affect your rest.
As an aside though, just because you've trained a muscle group one day, and now it's sore, doesn't mean it can't be trained again.
Okay.
I was just worried that I might overwork it and fuck up muscle growth.
Okay.

Heh. No. Very, very few people actually come close to overtraining.
With true overtraining you'll feel like shit scraped off a boot and working out will be the last thing on your mind.
That said, I am in no way advocating training the same muscle groups every day. Beginners tend to find they get their best results from less frequency and more recovery.
Just got home from a night of drinking, hooking up with girls then going to get some AM McDonald's, lol. I might stop drinking though (I do it once a week now) completely, since I heard it affects your working out quite a bit.

Something like that won't be a problem unless you're shooting up roids, having way too much protein intake and just lifting every day, all week.

Is it really that bad only once a week?
Is it really that bad only once a week?
Yeah if you get drunk every weekend it is pretty bad, ive cut down a fair bit on my partying so that I can concerntrate on my build. And with the Uni holidays starting now I can really kick up my diet and training routine im pretty excited :D.

Well you can do both, just watch the alcohol consumption and make sure you get enough sleep to ;)

Yeah but after a heavy night of drinking I either don`t work out the next day, or if I do I don`t feel very good lol. I`m thinking I`m going to cut down on the drinking

Good choice mate :)
How often do you guys switch up your routines?
Whenever I workout I always try to have at least one workout per day that I don't do everytime I do that body part, for example, for one chest-tris day I'll do triceps extensions with the rope, and the next chest-tris day I'll do it with the bar, and another chest-tris day I'll do skullcrushers. Should I keep doing this or just do one for a long period of time then switch it up to another one?
I think mixing it up is good because your body doesn "get used to" a certain exercise.
I need a starting routine as I am helplessly out of shape.
I eat all day (and night) munching on shit most of the time but I have a good meal 1 or 2 times a day (chicken with rice and veggies etc) at work yet:
I am underweight (118 lbs wtf)
I am 6'2" (again with the weight)
I am 18.
I have basically no muscle on me. I don't have access to gym equipment either.
I restarted my journey on the 100 pushup challenge today. I can do 16 full pushups.
What can I do to get into normal shape?
What can I do? lol...
