Go to the gym kids, it's good for you. If I didn't go to the gym I would never exercise, ever. [editline]13th November 2010[/editline]
How often do you guys switch up your routines? Whenever I workout I always try to have at least one workout per day that I don't do everytime I do that body part, for example, for one chest-tris day I'll do triceps extensions with the rope, and the next chest-tris day I'll do it with the bar, and another chest-tris day I'll do skullcrushers. Should I keep doing this or just do one for a long period of time then switch it up to another one?
I try to do something different every other time I do a muscle, if I did 3 machines/workouts last time then I'll try to do at least 1 other type. How often do you add weight to any workout? I generally keep a notepad of all workouts and what my weight/reps were for it, and whenever I feel like I'm no longer sore from it I add on weight.
I need some more help guys: Should I risk doing weighted leg raises? The only option that I have for these is to put a 10kg dumbbell between my legs and lift them BUT I'm too scared of injury to do it. Because when I do regular leg raises it usually tends to rape my lower back more than my abs. I'd also do hanging leg raises but there's a problem with that: My pull-up bar is in my doorway and obviously it isn't high enough for me to keep my legs straight while hanging. Can I still effectively do them or am I restricted to hanging reverse crunches?

Also, whenever I just plain feel like it. Like if I want to do regular curls with a curl bar instead of concentration curls with a dumbbell. [editline]13th November 2010[/editline] Also, I got some of this: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Body-Fortress-Dietary-Supplement-Strawberry-Super-Advanced-Whey-Protein-32-oz/10322372 Tastes awesome, in my opinion. I've been replacing my normal breakfast of 2-4 eggs and a bowl of oatmeal with this and a banana or a bowl of oatmeal. Keeps me from feeling hungry until lunch and I feel like I've been doing better in my workouts too. Has anyone else tried it?

Also, just to see who does what, anyone here ever considered doing the 5/3/1 program? Or, at least, any premade pure strength programs?
Nope All I have is my dumbbells and a pull-up bar.

Like for bench I add weight when I can do 3 sets of 10 of a certain weight. For my fourth set, I increase the weight quite a bit and just pump out the few reps or whatever [editline]13th November 2010[/editline]
i am slacking off i havent worked out properly for days im waiting for my eca stack on the plus side i just ate 6 chicken thighs got like 3,450 calories today. take that world
` I`ve only gone like once in the last week, due to midterms at Uni and shit but now I`m going back, going to do an allbody day today just to get back into it [editline]14th November 2010[/editline] Guys I`m really tired lately, ALL the time. I get at least 7 hours of sleep a night, what do?
Well, it kind of depends on what's wrong with your body. Your body could be tired from working out and need more sleep. Heavy weight lifting can often times make your body need to shut down for awhile to recuperate. It may also be from a lack of vitamin B. Possibly try to eat more foods like tuna, beef, turkey, or bananas.
I'm gymless. I need more bodyweight exercises pls, Google provides me with shit. I only do 3x10 plank and pushups and stretch. [editline]14th November 2010[/editline] before showering usually
uhh buy some weights, that's all you need really.
I do have dumbbells but they're @static@, in other words only 1 weight and that's around 7 kilos. [editline]14th November 2010[/editline] which is low.
better low than nothing at all.
better low than nothing at all.
maybe, but its annoying. it's like im exercising with baby dumbbells [editline]14th November 2010[/editline] hmm. bodybuilding.com has a lot of exercises and it has ratings. sweet!
try doing handstand push ups (against a wall to start out with). It's a very good shoulder exercise and no weights are necessary. And with the seven kilos you can still do a fair amount of exercises with those too like front and side lateral raises. [editline]14th November 2010[/editline] if you are serious about weight lifting than you probably do want to get a membership or buy some free weights or something. Ask for it for christmas or something [editline]14th November 2010[/editline] if you do have your heart set on body weight exercises try looking up calisthenics.
I have multivitamins everyday and eat banans and beef daily lol, idk what`s going on [editline]14th November 2010[/editline] Dips, pullups, leg raised pushups, close grip pushups, clap pushups
idk man, each pushup set is that my hands are in different locations for example 1 set is my hands are parallel to my chest, 2 set is parallel to my shoulders and etc. rate my pushups? plzz also havent thinked of dips, gonna do it. i can\t do pullups, i don\t have barbell in my house. I also listed some dumbbell exercises from Firerain, like Goblet Squats and etc.
I have multivitamins everyday and eat banans and beef daily lol, idk what`s going on
Just get more sleep. I used to get 6-8 hours of sleep and now I get 9-10 hours since I started working out. What I do is set my alarm every day and just go to bed when I'm tired.
I've slept 28hrs in the past 48hrs.
I'm changing my workout plan again because i'm finding i don't have enough energy to do 3 muscle groups a day and i want to fit in more exercises per group, so i wanna know if this is a good idea. Here's how i had it before; i split my muscle groups into 2 day types, using the gym 5 days a week. (abs go in any day)
Day 1: Chest (6 exercises), Shoulders (5 exercises), Triceps (4 exercises) Day 2: Biceps + Forearms (5 exercises), Back (5 exercises), Legs (6 exercises)
I want to change it to something like this.
Day 1: Shoulders (8-10 exercises), Legs (8 exercises) Day 2: Back (8 exercises), Biceps + Forearms (9 exercises) Day 3: Chest (10 exercises), Triceps (8 exercises)
also should i use the gym 6 days week with this, or just stick to 5?
You have it kinda wrong. The legs are almost half of your body and they should be exercised alone in a single day. For better results you could do 1 group per day. It allows you to work out harder and have better results in the long run (every muscle has time to rebuild itself properly, and you shouldn't risk using a muscle with muscle fever, because it isn't very good to do that) Monday: Chest. Tuesday: Back. Wednesday: Shoulders. Thursday: Biceps/Triceps. Friday: Legs. Saturday/Sunday off. Also, do abs every day apart from Friday. (I usually do 4 sets of 20 with 15-20kg, depends)
I need a starting routine as I am helplessly out of shape. I eat all day (and night) munching on shit most of the time but I have a good meal 1 or 2 times a day (chicken with rice and veggies etc) at work yet: I am underweight (118 lbs wtf) I am 6'2" (again with the weight) I am 18. I have basically no muscle on me. I don't have access to gym equipment either. I restarted my journey on the 100 pushup challenge today. I can do 16 full pushups. What can I do to get into normal shape? What can I do? lol...
Ok, I tell alot of people this. You need to make a commitment to do this. Diet and Exercising. Diet, do as much as you can. I know it's hard but push your self to get the nutrients you need. Work out as much as you can too. Only things you're gonna need is: 1.) Pull-Up bar 2.) Good running shoes 3.) Push-Up bars (not essential, but they take alot of strain off your wrists) Your work-out should consist of this for about 3 months, to get your body adjusted to working out. 30 minutes of cardio 3 sets of push-ups (builds tricep, and pectoral muscles) 3 sets of crunches (builds abs) 3 sets of pull-ups (build biceps, pecs, and lats.) Note: Each the reps for each set is how much you can do with good form.
Guys I`m really tired lately, ALL the time. I get at least 7 hours of sleep a night, what do?
Eat more.
Eat more.
Yeah, make sure you're getting enough carbs, so have some oatmeal or whole wheat toast or something.
What's the best way to cut down on between-workout snacking urges? I've got more than a few pounds to lose, and if i can cut down on snacking and soda drinking in between my weightlifting sessions i figure i'll go much farther. My trainer said my diet wasn't that bad, but i figure every little bit will help.
Well its first week of the summer holidays and I was so keen to really get into my new routine but of course I have been stricken with severe flu.... well shit...

Or stop buying snacks. Can't eat them if you don't have them.
Eat more.
The funny part is I eat like 5 times a day and am still on a bulk lol [editline]15th November 2010[/editline]
What's the best way to cut down on between-workout snacking urges? 5 times isn't exactly a lot.
you're meant to have a meal every 2 hours
fuck that I eat whenever I fucking want to
