I've known really strong people that weigh around 145 and shit and are like 5, 8 and they lift 1.5xtheir weight. Which is ridiculous, you must have 0 body fat or something.
I forget what I measured it at, but it was pretty damn low.
ok that makes more sense but still, damn good job
Just a read a thread on bb.com where one of the best and most famous `natural` bodybuilders of all time himself said that he did steroids in his 20`s, but only to `keep his weight on`....
I guess natural bodybuilding is pretty much dead at the professional scene

Professional body building is never natural it seems. And it looks pretty disgusting, I'm more for a firm and thin body then being bulky as fuck.
People on the supplement portions on bb.com make it sound like it's impossible to gain mass or anything without some type of supplementation.
Like whey protein. How do they work?

don't get discouraged. Most professionals look horrendous anyway. I actually don't take any supplements ( i have been thinking about starting to use whey but i haven't looked into it enough yet) and i've seen fairly substantial gains in a good amount of time.
I've just started looking into it 30 minutes ago, and I can honestly say that "supplements" have to have the same kind of ad sketchiness of weight loss programs. "EAT THIS AND BECOME BIGGGGGGGGGGGGGG *Insert picture of steroid using guy with product in hand*"

Yeah but I was talking about natural Mr. Universe, this guy won it at 200~ pounds and he looked pretty big but nothing like hulk sized ronnie or cutler.
It's kind of a shitty feeling to find that this 'natural' guy used steroids. Lately in working out it's all about the hormone supplements and such, pretty much the belief everywhere now is "If you don't take roids, then you won't go far"
I'm never going to take them but it's kind of unfair how even when they try to divide natural and not natural bodybuilders they don't end up doing that fully. I mean he hasn't used for like 20 years but the contest usually only requires like 1,3,5, or 7 years of no use. feelsbadman.
that's the big problem with the professional league of anything. When you're competing with the best of the best it can be hard to keep up and people feel needlessly pressured. Try not to let it damper your spirits. There are plenty of really strong people who don't.

supplements like mutlvitamins and protein powders are proven to enhance working out with minimal side effects, it`s just that the FDA does not regulate workout supplements so pretty much anyone can enter the market, which= lots of competition, and pretty much whoever has the biggest guy in the magazine ad gets the most customers
lots of supplements are pretty useless or bad for you though, and finding legit scientific based reviews is hard on anything other than protein, vitamins and creatine really

thanks, I`m pretty sure the only reason the natural guy did it anyways is because he was getting pressured because all the other guys used and he didn`t
oh well, I`m not planning on being a professional bodybuilder anytime soon (lol) so I`m gonna keep working out hard and being natural for life, yo
being natural makes you feel better in the end anyways. more proud of yourself cause you achieved the goals by yourself through hard work and dedication and nothing else

What's your routine? Sounds kinda unbalanced.
I wouldn't want to look like professional bodybuilders anyways.

awesomeness. i just got a free pass to the gym near me (a really good one too) that i can use throughout the holidays whenever i want. there's a program for students between 13-18 which lets then use the gym in the holidays for free - they just have to print, fill out some form, and attend one seminar. (which i didn't have to do)
i'm pretty psyched. i'll be able to have more equipment to use besides the weights in my garage. good timing too because i was gonna start my bulk in the holidays so now i'll be able to build up easier. also i was starting to lose a bit of motivation so this should get me going again.
Hey guys my palm hurts when I lift weights, its the only thing holding me back. My skin is really sensitive and it starts to burn to the point where I have to drop them. I can handle the weight, my skin is a faggot though.
get some gloves, i cant workout without them, and chicks dig the smooth hands :p

That's what chalk is for buddy, weight lifting gloves hahaha.

It's not like not wearing gloves will make your entire hand rough. It's honestly a lot better to just let your hands get callused up instead of wasting money on equipment that is unnecessary.
If you maintain a good grip and train properly you shouldn't have too much a problem with callouses.
I can't imagine working out without gloves.
My dumbbells would slide like fuck which would make it impossible to do almost anything.
also gloves > chalk
sounds like you need new dumbbells. Most are textured so that you can grip them very well so i don't see why you would even have an issue with holding on to them
True, I'm pretty sure my dumbbells are from far, far back in the Soviet Union.
At least they look like that.

The handles on the ones at my gym are like this

Those little grip engravings killed my hands until I got gloves.
i can say that i am honestly surprised by the amount of people the use gloves on here. That rough engraving is meant to provide friction so that even if your hands are sweaty you won't drop them. I don't really ever remember having it hurt my hands that much to need gloves but i don't know. It's interesting
some people have more sensitive skin I guess.
i'm gonna start using some weights i've bought - i'm not fat but it'd be nice to get a bit slimmer - can dumbbell workouts do that for me if I get committed?
very much so, you just have to be a little creative. what's the lightest-heaviest you have?
They're adjustable, so from about 2x1.5kg to 2x9kg. Pretty cheap, so will get heavier if/when needed.

well.. In the long run it'd be better to jump into a gym though.
of course, i understand that - unfortunately I live in the middle of nowhere, so no gym for me :(

That's not bad and since you can't get a gym that's a good alternative. If you need ideas for work outs this website is really good and has been posted several times in this thread:

[editline]15th December 2010[/editline]
and obviously if you need ideas or suggestions on what is best i and others in here are more than willing to help
thanks - i'm literally a complete novice at this, i've never done anything of the sort, so if you could suggest some starter-pointers and a good set of work outs to begin with that'd be very good of you.
