Right now I am doing lifting, Stair Stepper Machine, Swimming and Riding on a Stationary Bike. I am doing a Vertical Press 16 times at 20 pounds and 16 times at 30 pounds Pull Downs 16 times at 20 pounds and 16 times at 30 pounds Rows 16 times at 20 pounds and 16 times at 30 pounds Leg Extension 16 times at 30 pounds and 16 times at 40 pounds Leg Curl 16 times at 30 pounds and 16 times at 40 pounds I go on a stair stepper for about 10-20 minutes. I just swim laps in my pool but nothing special. I also ride a stationary bike for three miles and then I am done. I am trying to gain 65 pounds and six inches by fall for football. Will this work or not. Also I am trying to gain more strength in my legs for college football in two years, so I will be doing heavier weights soon. Any advice?
65 pounds is A LOT of weight, and you`re making it harder for yourself to gain it by doing all that cardio and high reps
In order to gain weight on that regimen, you will need to consume over the amount of calories that you burn in a day. And then some. That means you are going to NEED to track calories to be sure. You don't necessarily have to eat a lot of food, if you eat things that are very calories dense such as pasta, whole milk, nuts etc. If you are serious there are ways to gain that much weight in time for next fall. One way I have heard works, is to drink a gallon of whole milk everyday. If you do that you will gain 65 pounds in time for football season. If you want to gain weight, and are serious about that, the best thing you can do is plan it out meticulously. And read up on it as well. It's not something to be taken lightly, 65 lbs is a big amount. And only do it if you are also serious about an active lifestyle to keep healthy with all the food you are taking in.
Merry christmas everyone, I hope you all had at least ten lbs of food.
I most likely gained at least 10 lbs during these two days (24th and 25th) :( Or maybe about half a meter in waist circumference :P Let's hope I'll manage to sweat some off before 31st, which'll be my last eat-all-you-can-day in a LOOONG time. 4 weeks of P90X remaining (go me!), after that I'll most likely switch to some routine thing like monday-wednesday-friday different muscle excercises and also the p90x stretch/yoga twice or thrice a week. Plus less food and no protein shakes, don't want to tax my kidneys too much. Merry belated Christmas to everyone here!

Sweet, I got some push-up bars and dumbbells for Christmas. Now I can keep loose during breaks when I'm separated from the weight room.
Do this
Sounds, good thanks. Both of you thanks.
So than what should I do for a workout.
Really, all you have to do, like the other person said is have a crazy high caloric surplus. Eat a lot and eat often. Also, since you`re playing football, you`ll probably want to do compound and explosive movements, like deadlifts, squats, bench, clean and jerks, etc. etc. For reps, don`t do so many, just keep it for 6-12 reps and make sure you`re pushing yourself. Hope this works and good luck! :D [editline]26th December 2010[/editline]
Sandvich make me strong!!
Muscles start to grow only after 21-23 years old. Dismissed, skinny boys.
Not really. Teenagers can really pack on the muscle with a good workout plan and good dieting. It's a really good time for strength training. I've seen some really muscular teens at my school.
Muscles start to grow only after 21-23 years old. Dismissed, skinny boys.
Strong Broscience right there. Teen years are actually the ideal time for building muscle because you pretty much have natural Steroids.
Muscles start to grow only after 21-23 years old. Dismissed, skinny boys.
Biggest BS i've heard today.
Should I do anything else, cause I play punter.
Should I do anything else, cause I play punter.
do a lot of leg workouts, there's many squat variations and such, do you have anything in mind that you want to accomplish? oh and to the topic of being able to eat more junk food than home food, answer is: monosodium glutamate, lol [editline]26th December 2010[/editline]
Muscles start to grow only after 21-23 years old. I'm assuming you are 12 if you've never seen kids under 21 who are huge
I missed leg day today because i got hardcore black out drunk last night and felt like shit all day. Feels bad, man
this is the exact reason I stopped drinking heavily so often (used to club almost twice a week, now lately like once a month and usually less)
I so need to go to the gym again. I lost like over a stone over the summer being ill/homeless. I was actually making some good progress, now I lost it all.

So I just got some exercise equipment for Christmas, including one of those pull-up bars, resistance bands, and dumbells (only 40 lbs though) I've been mainly doing pushups and situps since I can't go to a gym, but now that I have this equipment I am expecting to see some good results. Can anyone give me advice for pectoral and oblique exercises? And I am not very good with a lot the exercise terminology so you will kinda need to explain it, thanks!

Now you have no excuse to not workout haha For pecs, do bench press (with the dumbbells), fly (with the dumbbells) and dips (if your pullup bar has a dip attachment) if you have any questions on what any of those are go ahead and ask oh and I think the adonis belt is mostly genetics, but you can get your obliques better by a number of ab exercises
Congrats on the equipment, put it to good use! Now you have no excuse to not workout haha For pecs, do bench press (with the dumbbells), fly (with the dumbbells) and dips (if your pullup bar has a dip attachment) Thanks, haha. I am mostly focusing on chest and pectoral exercises because I have unusually large hips, so maybe if I increase the mass on my chest and sides it won't be as obvious! if you have any questions on what any of those are go ahead and ask oh and I think the adonis belt is mostly genetics, but you can get your obliques better by a number of ab exercises
[Weird my content didn't show up] Thanks, haha. Well I am mostly focusing on those parts because I have unusually large hips, so I thought if I focus on those, they won't be so obvious.
