Don't let it rest between your shoulderblades that'll fuck you up.
You're supposed to either let it rest of your trapezoid or on your back like what Maucer said.
Well when I started I always put the barbell on my neck/shoulders and it hurt like a bitch.
Then I realized you're supposed to hold it on your back

cheers, i'll give this a go.
Thanks for the comments guys.
I live near in Illinois. Also for big shoulders you guys should really work in some clean/powerclean/hang cleans into your workout.
And for all you guys on Zyzz's nuts, here's his friends who's nuts you should be on:

Fucking beast, 6'1-6'2 and probably 250-260 lean. This is why I am bulking.
Why would you even want to look like that?
We maxed out on power cleans for football this past Friday and I managed to hit 125.
Keep in mind I haven't lifted in a month since we maxed, and I'm only a 14 years old at 150 lbs as a freshman. I surprised my self and I was happy.
But some people my age managed to hit 180 :(. Ah well I see it as improvement, cause in the summer i managed to hit 75.
Stick in there, and look at films on youtube for advice on form. Type in dario2004 for some good motivation, that guys powercleaning like 400lbs, and does 205 with one arm.
I bet 20 bucks that something about your form is off and that's probably taking away at least 25lbs.But if your doing 125 right now, shoot for 200 the end of the year. Do one armed powercleans and squat low, squattings the most important.
Also my brothers pretty big and he doesn't workout. I have good genetics, but he has black genetics. He dunked his sophmore year in highschool at 5'8, and weighed about 180lbs without ever working out at probably 12 percent BF. I just eat A LOT and try my best in the weightroom.
i need help with doing squats, i can't get my form right and i always feel really uncomfortable.
how am i supposed to position the bar behind my neck? i find wherever i place it, it's always digging into my spine or killing my neck. i can't even go higher than 30kg because it's so uncomfortable, and on that note i can't even lift the barbell from the floor to behind my head if it's above 40kg (although this is mostly a concern with military lifts)
should i just practice more and i'll get used to it? it's only my third time doing squats
If you have a pretty visible spine like me, then you can just pop that fucker between the gaps in your spine. It sounds weird but it helps against the pain/annoying things and it works quite well.
If you guys are having trouble with squats, for whatever reason, try front squats. Clean/Powerlclean the weight up to your chest like normal, and then just squat from that position. It's a great exercise, as important as the regular squat IMO.
Thank you johnstamos.
And bleach, I was up last night looking up power cleans, and your probably right. Maybe my form isn't correct.
Also I looked up that guy dario2004, and holy shit. He doesn't look like a bodybuilder but his explosive power is incredible! I'm trying to build up explosive power for football since I play O line, and I heard powercleans is good for building up that kind of power. I also squat and bench and deadlift. But the guy has a lot of power.
Yeah powercleans are probably the most useful lift for football, followed by squats for us linemen. O-Line your definitely to want to add mass, I play D-Line and I consider myself undersized, and O-Line I would be tiny.
I know EXACTLY what you mean about the squat thing budspoonce, took me so long to get it right and it bothered my neck and back for the longest time, the thing is, the bar has to be farther back than you really think it should be, that`s what worked for me
still, i wrap a towel around the bar for heavy squats because it hurts like fuck lol
Maybe I'm not gaining weight because 3,000 calories a day is like my maintenance now. Time to up it to 4k. Wish me luck

Good luck with back issues bro.
yeah squats already compresses your spine (if you didn`t know this, make sure you do a big back stretch after squats, like hanging on the pullup bars for a minute and stuff)
i eat 5000 LOL
Waaah! Thats a lot, I barely break 1000 a day....

chances are you are miscounting, my friend
chances are you are miscounting, my friend
Not really, like I have said before I was trying to lose weight because I was a pretty big guy so I was doing uber-calorie counting! I've been eating more lately, but nowhere near the amount some of you are talking about.
not sure if this site has been posted, or if you guys know this dude.

ive been using his methods for about a month now, ive had amazing results (being the 115 lbs feather weight that i am). I got some definition and some strength and i feel really good. I can wait to go to a LAN party, rip off my shirt mid tf2 match and just game like nbd.
I feel like I should calorie count to make sure I'm actually gaining weight, but it seems so tedious. I just tend to eat a lot and usually I estimate to be over the amount of calories I burned.
Checked the scale and I am 180 currently. But I am 6'3 or 6'4 even and I want to gain another 10 maybe 15 pounds to get to a better weight.
Sustaining my weight currently is a hard task considering the amount of calories I burn from swimming everyday. Two years ago when I started swimming I dropped like 15 pounds at first because I didn't understand that I needed to eat a lot more or else I'd lose weight.

If you are not gaining weight at 3000 calories, it probably means you have a high metabolism. Go buy some nice proteins.
You don't need to take them 3 times a day. Usually a dose dissolved in water (not milk) after workout does the trick. Don't eat before or 30 mins after taking your supplements.
I talk from my own experience. Also don't buy cheap proteins, and ask people around so you can get an opinion.
i found this pretty funny. zyzz's first thread on BB.

I'm currently drinking 1l of milk and yogurt per day, 500g of Beef, shittons of herring and peanut butter too.
Not sure how much that is, but doesn't even seem to be enough for me.
fuck being an ectomorph
I'd love to be able to eat what I want. I love food.
I wish I could afford to buy a life time of chicken breasts.

Dead lift also is really hard on the back. I nearly threw it out the other week because I wasn't careful.
